Just slightly higher than Malaysia. If convenience is the factor, it should be OK. Why don't you hunt around in Togoparts if there's any used unit? Most Singaporean bikes are in good condition, they don't ride much and also many of them are upgraded with really nice components.

what is the cheapest price i can get in KL for Speed P8? I might go to kl in this 3 weeks?
Is it wise to get it in kl rather than s'pore? how frequent it requires for servicing?

Woohoo..thanks for the detailed explanation(big thank you). This really get me thinking if i should get another bike instead of the vybe. I decided on the vybe because i like the frame design and that its made of alu which doesnt rust but i did hear that its gona be more work and money to upgrade the gearing system on vybe compared to other bikes but definately wasnt expecting this haha. Will the difficulty level of upgrading the gearing system on a broadwalk be much lower and any cheaper? Or maybe if i show the specs that you typed earlier to the kedai basikal i wonder if they are willing to do it for me lol. Im sure its gona cost me a more significant amount too since i have 0 kangtao

never tried the boardwalk d8 coz no body own it in ipoh. rolleyes.gif so i didnt know is it freehub of freewheel..better ask before you bought..i got two friend of me owning an old boardwalk d7 bought from halfcut (kedai potong).i already rebuild the bike with full tiagra groupset + nice set of wheel and one more already re-furbish the bike into original condition.. icon_rolleyes.gif

but for me if u wanna cheaper upgred, just upgrade the crank.from single chainring to double chainring.its more efficient and economy rather than upgrade the cassette only..just think, from 7 @ 8 speed,u will get 14 @ 16 speed and many different ratio by just upgrading the crank.depends on people.few person i met like folding with single chainring only.. rclxm9.gif

i love my vybe, and its a cool frame design with some curvy straight shape without a chainstay (cheaper compare to MU models with no chainstay).i wont sell it in the future, but maybe will give it to my sister as for now im funding for a new speed p8 for touring purpose! blush.gif

In my point of view
i you love the frame bro, just bought it.for me frame are important.other parts can upgrade later.slowly see buy n sell and find many cheap2 parts and upgrade ur bike.lucky here in malaysia we cannot buy only frame for folding bike sweat.gif .otherwise its good to have that option.

Dear All~~

I owned a Tern D8 with the N Fold mechanism~~

Recently i have an off road trip around Taman Wetland Putrajaya and some how dropped the REAR MAGNET of my bike~~

So when folded, the front and back was not able to "stick" together...

Checked with Vans Urban from where i bought the bike and they told me that the distributor does not carry the part and i would have to wait (indefinitely)....without the bloody magnet the bike just feel....incomplete~~

Would like to seek help from all fellow bikers here for help and recommendation~~

When you say to upgrade the crank..the crank is the part where the peddal is connected and the front gear disc right? So i can add a piece of crank to it, a derrailuer and a shifter to it and it will get me to 16 speed right since the the bike is 8 speed? Also if i add a smaller disc crank at the front, i realize i will now have 16 gear choices, but will this makes my bike go faster or will it make climbing easier? My guess is climbing will be easier right? Also i wonder why would ppl prefer single chainring rather than 2 as with 2 you will get more gear choices. Haha sorry im realy newbie.

For the broadwalk i did some reading and i found that its much easier if you wana upgrade the gearing. So i assume its opposite of what vybe is and you dont need to change wheel set. Its only a few hundred difference but i really like vybe frame alot. So if its possible to just add 1 or 2 crank disc at the front that will give me option of 16 to 24 speed. That sounds like a huge upgrade haha

yap,
the crank is the disk connected to the pedal.vybe original crank cannot add a new disk @ chanring besides the big one.oh ya,not to mention original vybe crank size 46t.so the option u will adopt to buy a new crank @ 2nd with complete sealed bearing bb @ hollow bb size 50/34 or 53/39 or 56/42.

when u upgrade the crank, add on shifter and fd+fd hanger u will add more gear versatile and its easy for climbing and speed since the new crank are bigger than the stock one..

if i dont have any parts option on the time i upgrade my vybe,
of coz i will find 8speed cogs,
http://www.bicyclebuysell.com/item/254079/...-34t-screw-type

put double chainring crank, install the fd with shifter and get the 16speed gear for the vybe without changing the hub.plus, the stock 7speed rd can tune up to 8speed without changing the rd.. brows.gif

for starter you can try something like this first.. cheap and you dont need to replace bb for dahon. or if you stay somewhere nearby bayan baru penang you can come and take my old crank it has double chainring(disk) but 1 side only lah bcoz last time i made mistake and ruined the non crank side.

original vybe crank+bb its not a sealed bearing type of bb.its a low grade type of bearing..so better change the bb also flex.gif

How can the magnet just drop off like that? This is not a very good design.
