I just informed them that I wanted to cancel the card and they straightaway waived the annual fee (saved me RM1200, haha) and the GST.

if you need to inform them first means it's not automatically waived.

I see, let me rephrase my statement.

Actually I wrote to UOB to inform them about my intention to cancel the card and not to ask for Annual Fee waiver as UOB did not charge me any fees yet when I wrote to them. Then they called and offered me the Annual Fee/GST waiver for another year. smile.gif

yeah, that's what i mean. uob will not automatically waive the annual fee without you taking the first action.

you need to call to waive but most of the successful case is that one need to threaten to cancel in order to get waiver. i'm one of this example.

Is it possible to waive the 1200 annual fees on the infinite card? If cannot I'll cancel it after few months later.

The CS said that to me too. He said they will charge first, then only I can make a request for a waiver. Then I told him no purpose later if I kenot waive it. So I requested for immediate cancel of card. He told me CC dept will call me back within one week. Guess what, the CC person call back and gave me GST waiver + 3 years annual fee waiver on both my vox card and one card.

When CC dept call me, she direct waive. The CS dept told me it's hard to waive GST. Annual fee no issue though they must charge it first. I was very direct. I told the CS either u waive both charges on both cards, or u cancel my both cards.
