v3. i begin to felt the harshness of my back tyre when crusing. does it means my turn of bearing issues is coming ?

air con belt sound aso more noticiable. jus passed a year aniversary only.

aso notice 40 n 80 k service , auto charge appx 200 more than manual. it is bcos of gear oil ? luckly we don need 80 k service back to sc.

arrow: suprised with their fast email response? Glad they offered the help to get your car checked at HQ. Update us if they manage to solve your FC issue.

And for my case, air cond cooling coil replaced. Now as good as new biggrin.gif

I was expecting a response a week later or so. They replied the very next day. Then they called me the day after and tried to schedule an appointment for me to come in.

Im impressed. Nv got such cust service before. But again, i prefer they solve my fc rather than fantastic cust serv haha.

Just got call from SC puchong regarding my rear brake..

So they say arrange someone from PJ SC to test my car together for the squeeking sound, and then submit report again to claim for a new rear drum set.

Updates again once I manage to claim !

Well it's still new and the gear shifts needs some tuning as sometimes it goes over rpm without shifting the gear. Overall I'm satisfied

initially they wanted to bring in note, but got source in tan chong says that they are unable to price it competitively. Can't beat jazz in pricing, and thinks that most people would not want to spend on the amount given the specs. So drop it.

note that you saw is cbu imported.

Unhappy and disappointed.

Sure call u back again biggrin.gif

I feel prob with tceas is, when we complain sound etc, they dun allocate test drive with us. How to know what sound we conplain abt? This is what i noticed..

Like when i bring to my stand alone workshop, thr foremen will go with me and drive around trying to make that sound.

Saw your post asking about stiff rings in v2. I installed it, steering is heavier and stiffer, turning it is more precise. The car feel very solid now. It had been a week, very huge difference, the car is no longer shaky when you drive through bumpy road. I also managed to run 120km/h in smart tunnel all the way. Before this i wouldnt dare because the car will be very bumpy and the cornering was weak. Now saving money for anti roll bar. ^^

It had been a week, very huge difference, the car is no longer shaky when you drive through bumpy road. I also managed to run 120km/h in smart tunnel all the way. Before this i wouldnt dare because the car will be very bumpy and the cornering was weak. Now saving money for anti roll bar. ^^
*
regarding that, no any con/negative feedback? if so i might consider it *when i have my budget ready.

now speeding at highway when cornering body roll alot

It doesnt help with bodyroll, just more precise cornering. I dont know how to describe, it is like no more longgar feeling when you are cornering and the car is not shaking after cornering.

If you want to reduce body roll, the only thing to do is to lower your car, change the suspension or install anti roll bar.

On highway, maybe 120km and above. Car feels like its floating. To the left then to the right. Very mildly.

I feel this. I suspect i need 195 tires

Woohoo live update from sc puchong to check on the rear brake issue. Tested car together with technician from pj hq and puchong technician. I was driving and they manage to listen to the squeaking sound that I mentioned. So they say they want to check. Waited about 2 hours now the SA told me can't claim the rear drum because they have tested nothing wrong and this is the first time they encounter such problem. They rejected my rear brake warranty claim and ask me to continue drive see still have sound or not if have continue to complain to their customer service. KUDOS to these jokers ! Looks like I have to bear with the squeaking sound again sad.gif another early morning wasted time

It doesnt help with bodyroll, just more precise cornering. I dont know how to describe, it is like no more longgar feeling when you are cornering and the car is not shaking after cornering.

If you want to reduce body roll, the only thing to do is to lower your car, change the suspension or install anti roll bar.

I am planning to get year end car with auto gear lower spec. I guess is E Spec. I think if I buy from KL, it will be much more cheaper than Penang. Any good and reliable sales agent  that I can contact and buy from him/her?

Thanks.

But if i am not wrong the TCEAS Body & Repair only allow your claim if you buy insurance from them right?

Else we have to go outside of TCEAS to get our car repaired in the event of accident.

I had this sound when i got my car the very first day.. didn't bother until recently my cooling coil rosak claim warranty with the whole dashboard out.

Suprisingly after change a new cooling coil, the roaring sound isn't there anymore. But once a while will have.. I notice if you start your car maybe idle 1minute, then start driving for short distance and turn on your aircond sometimes eliminate the roaring sound. Do try it out smile.gif

Or else you will be facing same issue like me very soon, whole dashboard out to change the cooling coil cool2.gif

Then after that goes to Petron just bcoz Petron gives better points redemption.

Not much difference in FC. I just notice my 10k service they got add hospower, car is indeed more power.

Shouldnt it be the other way round??

Put N to jaga ur gearbox, leave on D and u are putting minor stress on the gearbox as its trying to go but ur brakes are on.

while waiting for traffic light, best if pull handbrake and set to N.

Think of it as driving manual, free your gear and pull handbrake.

Everytime stopped at traffic light...u can see all the brake light on..
that mean they only press brake paddle...
that's why I'm asking...is this the way we should do so that gearbox will last longer...

if it's short stop, N and brake is ok.
If not, better put on handbrake to prolong your brakes and gearbox lifespan.

there are a lot of choices for B segment cars, why you choose Nissan Almera ??

for me, i chose because the full spec price is about the lowest spec for toyota vios and honda city.

Haiyo. My car mcm banyak small issues.

I chose it cuz its cheap, and nissan has damn good nvh, and i nv own a nissan before.

Also, the big leg room for the rear and really good sales assistant. I go honda and toyoto, no one bother to attend to me. Nissan, he immediately greeted me when i walked in.

I bought it because it's cheaper, and affordable to maintain. While toyota and honda was also the consideration, I needed to fork more to maintain compared to nissan.

But after service service part is somewhat disappointing and meagre in quality. Got it from MUV and within 2 weeks, masuk kilang three times dee.

My car was sent in for service today, tomorrow only can collect. Reason being is their protocol isn't convenient for both bearings to be replaced at once. (Need to lodge report and wait confirmation. But can go with one day replace one bearing. ????? i was told. so leave it there for a day since one bearing was replaced in the evening)

Yes in your case this is correct. I tried claiming both the wheel bearing one shot before, they say normally won't get through the claim. They always advise to claim one by one so that they don't have to write in a report.

In the end i got only one replaced. And another one replaced next time

Maybe i can suggest you to try other SC to claim. Not necessary to go back the same SC since they giving you such excuses each time.

Going to other SC gives you other expertise opinion. Or .. best of all, write in officially via email and complain !! Arrowhead and me has done our emailing part and they are willing to help.. But try to make peace out of the email dont go trashing them first tongue.gif Write in more proper manners then they will direct you to a more experienced technician for repair.

If you want to see the email that I've send to them, let me know i can forward to you thumbup.gif

Minor problem for now since under warranty. If warranty over, need to charge one side 200-300+ inclusive labour.. Quite a big sum to chunk out considering we have 4 wheel bearings ! rclxub.gif

Just to share my first 2 weeks with Almari.
I love the looks with Impul bodykit. Better then God car. Hehe
Good NVH, great Leg room and trunk space.
Like the ICE too, Initially I thought of changing the stocks speakers before getting it.
But after I change my mind after getting my ride biggrin.gif .
FC wise I have not really calculate it. Will see after I run my first 1000km
Overall I’m happy with it. rclxms.gif

On reviews, they daid can achieve 14km/l

That should come out to abt 500kms for rm80

Then can get 16cents/km.

Mine is way off...

Again, its subjective. Depends on how udrive and where u drive (city or highway). I tend to avoid jams so i have pretty smooth journeys. 60% city roads 40% highways for me. But fc sux

Sofar only 1 full tank done, slightly better only.

Used to be abt 10km/litre, managed toget 11km/litre, but subjective again.

Made a trip to klia. Skewed the test.

Definitely better than vios and city. In terms of solidness, quietness and comfort.

Cheaper also. But u compromise looks.

Hope u get a good unit, not like mine. My fuel consumption is horrid. While some others get really good fuel consumption.

Depends on ur luck. But oveall, quiet happy with the car.

By theory, this should be true. When new, everythings tight. Need more power to move the crank.

But my car is almost 40,000km. Mileage still like shit. So meh..

if u are referring to the one shown on the speedo, i believe its alittle inaccurate.

my full tank (rm80) gets me approx 320-330kms only.

thats about 25sen/km

and 9km/litre

10.86litres/100km

Hi all,

My Almera coming to 2 complete years. Bought in 2012 Dec.'

Going to do my 70K service next week.
*
Ok. Done service for 70k km.

Total damage RM500.

Change engine oil and atf. Now super smooth. This is 80k service schedule but i ask them to bring forward cause i prefer to change my atf every 30k instead of 40k.

I ask them to change the air filter but they say no need can last another 10k km.

Loving this car!! Great millage and comfort. Next is to change my tyre.

Wow this very bad. I am getting at least 450km per tank.

I run to and fro PJ sec14 to Subang Jaya to Old Klang Road so my travel is mostly jam plus some cruising in NPE.

subang jaya -> pj near jaya33 area -> subang -> assunta hospital area etc.

my full tank 330kms je

i usually avoid jams, like travel at 11am, and try to return before 4pm... hardly get caught in any bumper to bumper type jam, federal highway slowdown, once awhile, but i also dunno why my mileage mcm haram

Huh later batch that bad?? Luckily mine all good. No pulling, all stable.

Or could it be the tyre problem? The Conti CC1 and CC5 that Nissan is giving is simply the worst tyre there is. Quality is not consistent at all and all is prone to problem.

Mine got CC1, and out of 5 tyre (including spares) I already have 6 punctures. The same happen to my previous car, same route, using other brand no issues. The moment change to CC1, puncture here and there.

Your car all stock or got modification?

For engine oil I use fully syn, except during first 3 free service, 1k, 5k and 10k. They insist on giving the mineral oil, I have to argue with them to use semi Castrol Magnatec 10w30. Very lousy oil but SC don't have fully sync for 30 weight, they only have Castrol Fully Synthetic Edge 5w40. Too heavy.

Now I already switch to Nissan Fully Synthetic 0w-20 (made by Idemitsu). This is the best oil for this engine so far, very quiet, free revving and no sluggishness detected even at 10K km.

As for ATF, I insist on changing every 30K instead of 40K as per schedule. Other than that, everything else I follows SC recommendations.

Tyre pressure is 230kpa as per recommendation.

Aircond is auto, usually set between 20C and 23C.

Petrol is mainly Petronas RON95 (giving me the best millage) or alternative Caltex RON95. I can't use Shell (results like yours about 350km per tank only and pickup is sluggish), the worst. Other petrol brand is in between. Never used RON97 or Vpower before.

Driving style..... very subjective and irregular. No comment here.

Currently on shell. Giving me consisten 320-330kms.

Air cond is at 23, fan speed 2 bars only.

Tire pressure always check and repump every 2 weeks.

Car is stock.

Yes. Driving style is subjective. There was once i super light footed, nv rev pass 3k. No diff also.

I revved the engine beyond 3k but below 4k in it's first 1k. You know sometimes the car is a bit under power when it is going uphill.

Easiest way go to any accessories shop, or you can DIY yourself. Find directly underneath your car seat there should be a clip + wire attached to the bottom, just unplug the clip smile.gif No need to buy those dummy seat belt

As with all petrol, you will need a few more tank to realise the benefits, also to help weed out the placebo effects.

Caltex seems to work as well as Petronas for me. So you may be on the right track to a better fuel economy.

Try a couple more tank of Caltex before switching to Petronas and see how.

All the best! rclxm9.gif

Agrees!!

Using Caltex vs Petronas, both giving the same results in fuel economy, but I can feel engine is quieter with Caltex. I stick to Petronas due to convenience.

so far

shell - consistently 320-330

caltex - only tried once, manage to get 393 (but i traveled more on highways, so got like 30km+- more. need to try few more rounds)

petronas - only 1/4 tank tried and i can see the diff already. usually the 1/4 tank mark gets me abt 110kms+-, i am at 70km only now.

This is a myth. Cleaning power comes from the petrol's additive and not the RON ratings.

With RON97, you get fuel that can withstand higher compression before combustion, lower RON means easier to explode when compressed. You want fuel to combust when the spark plug ignites and not during compression.

If your engine is able to take advantage of higher compression, then using RON97 will results in higher power and if it suits your driving style this will translate to better millage.

If you think that your engine runs smoother and better on RON97, how about trying a mix between RON95 and RON97. Some users in other forum have run this with same results as using full RON97, but only mixing partial thus cheaper.

Clear the tank, and tries few Caltex full tanks, and try to do some high rev run to "cleanse" the engine. See if this improves.

Whatever you do, just stay away from Shell during this period. shakehead.gif

Hi,

Currently driving Almera E spec.

Plan to change tyres soon, currently using stock tyres Conti comfort contact cc5.

1) Should I change back to stock tyres? How much would it be per tyre? I am satisfied with the stock tyres but feel that can be more stable if get a bigger width tyres (195/60?)

2) If not, any recommendations of any other tyres? My main concern will be the cost as will be changing all 4 tyres at once. Hopefully around rm200 max per tyre. Wider and more stable tyres will be a plus point.

Thanks!

But some times, the sheer quietness of our cabin makes me happy..

Hahahaha.

My cc5 front tire getting botak, so fast. Only 36,000kms.. And its time to rotate already. Continental so lousy?

My cc5 front tire getting botak, so fast. Only 36,000kms.. And its time to rotate already. Continental so lousy?

It is wobbly. Not sure if it does cause any sound. I removed my exhust tip cz it vibrates at certain rpm, very annoying.

Thanks!

Just change my 2nd bearing (interval-ly to avoid tedious process of awaiting approval), came back with another unidentified sound.

Plus I need to wait approximately 2 weeks for HQ to approve of fixing the problem of black oil leakage. T.T

Super sad wei, barely a month and already need to standby for my 5th visit to sc.

Got it less than a month.

It's a used car though, from MUV aka test drive unit.
somehow the 180 point inspection sounds like another marketing gimmick.

Just received delivery of my Almera VL today. Quite nice i must say, but somehow the steering is lighter than the test unit the other day. The CC5 tires also looks a bit slimmer than i can recall previously sweat.gif

195/60 may give a little bit of stability, but the increment is too small when considering the extra resistance, less comfy & increased fuel consumption it causes (also slightly). Depends... but I think better stick to 185/65. You will appreciate the extra comfort & fuel savings.

Hahahaha.

*
The Vios doesn't provide the sheer amount of rear legroom.. and the City gives lower driving position. So, I always kept these in mind whenever my mind started to cringe 'why didnt bought Vios/City instead'.

Anyway, CC5 with mileage 35,000-40,000 is OK normal. My neighbors Toyo tyres only clock 20k km before botak. Make sure its properly inflated.

Its a common problem, especially when bodykits are attached. Mine, I've sent to SC and they have rectified it.

Knocking sound aside, Almera is quieter than Vios and City, and a whole lot more comfy.

Get the knocking sound checked, ask to tighten the undercarriage, whatever that means. That is what the SC (Nissan PJ) told me when I complained about that and so far it never came back.

Not sure about QC but Tan Chong has very bad after sales service. Heard many stories of forum and friends have to go through a lot of hassel getting warranty claim. Tan Chong prefer to repair than replace parts.

Experience with Honda, they are willing to change and replace parts to keep customers happy.

Anyone using 195/60 or 195/55 tires?

Got any significant diff? Heavier steering, more fuel consumption? No floating feel when speeding at highways?

My tires are balding.. Changing soon

What is the symptom of faulty bearing? And what is the new unidentified sound?

If bearing is cracked, you would probably hear sound from the tyre section. I don't know how to describe it. Perhaps other may help you in it.

As for the unidentified sound my car is emitting, it remains unidentified.

I had the same symptoms.. each time after starting car & turn on the aircon, suddenly "KTTOOONG" noise appeared. My old Saga and Persona never had that kind of eeery sound when aircon turned on. Heck, Klang TCM Service Center won't even bother to repair, they said that the compressor is running normally.

I have that loud noise from compressor whenever started. Very weird first time hearing that.

But the auto aircond is very good and cooling even on hot weather, I never bothered with it anyway.

Did you get the aircond cleaned? Changed the air filter? Have the cooling coil cleaned?

I did mine twice, if i am not wrong, since that time Tan Chong have aircond service promotion. Aircond is still very strong.

Just drive normally up Genting, after midway, sometimes engage 2. Have to engaged gear 2 coz gearbox will upshift whenever you lift foot up from pedal.

Very relaxing drive up genting I would say, very suprise to hear you are struggling in MRR2. rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

This is not accurate, it would be better to calculate from km done from full to empty. The average of few run will show an accurate rating.

For those facing issues with Tan Chong service center, please complaint and complaint big.

They are ranked 2nd (behind Toyota) in customer service index survey by JD Powers. Let's remind them to keep it up instead of letting it slide. Show them the power of consumer. flex.gif flex.gif

Service quality holds 38% of overall satisfaction and it is the biggest contribution.

I think Tan Chong have done great in vehicle pick-up though. nod.gif

Wah, everyday i come here all I read mostly are complaints sweat.gif
There seems to be the same recurring theme, but I really hope this happens in isolation.

Only got the car for a few days, and obviously I'm very happy with the purchase. No complaints so far.

Wow it seems like many problem....

Let's see what problem do I face with my Almera

1) Klok klok sound when going over uneven road. Happened twice, and both time resolved by SC. They say tighten undercarriage, whatever that means. If this happened again, I will raise hell at SC.

2) Minor scratch on the third quarter body when collecting car. SA check and provided free touch up service.

3) Reverse camera sometimes showing and sometimes not/flickering. Claimed warranty.

4) Radio got bzz sound from the head unit. Sounds like HU fan faulty. Claimed warranty.

5) Got one time car loose power, very sluggish. After check, found air filter clogged, complained coz less than 3000km after replacing air filter. After spray clean also the same. TC give a new replacement, power is back!! rclxms.gif

Other than that. So far so good. Loving this car. Great fuel economy. Comfy and can get you from point A to point B with ease and comfort and you arrived fresh.

Maybe I got it first batch, so QC is a bit better. sweat.gif

buying a new car suppose very happy.

for me, every time i look at it, feel sad...

even complaint to HQ customer service also no use, then push back to sc since they said is technical problems.
then sc sa told me the problems they already checked, everything OK...

I went to sc about 8 times, none of problems are resolved, feel like wasting time and money..
i requested HQ to check at other sc, but they said u talk to previous sc first what is the problems.

so every one taichi each other, problems never solve... while our mileage/car age keep increasing, that time sa will tell u this no more warranty, that no more warranty..

how smart & this is tan chong!

for those consider to buy, think twice...

Its been many months since i last posted here. My Almera already clocked 30K ++...Went to Jln Ipoh TCEAS few weeks back for 30k service...it was a Sunday so only normal service..cost bout Rm 300++...

As usual, they pour the 0-20 Nissan Fully Synthetic Oil..OEM is ELF/Total engine oil...Prior to this service, during 29K i tested on PLUS highway...190km/hr no problem..can still revv smoothly...A Volk Beetle was trailing me all the way...

I do agreed that Almera doesnt give the best/claimed FC....mine is worse also..

But...I managed to clocked 700km/full tank 100% highway before...Those were the good days...most of the time I clocked 280-350km / full tank...

I think main reason being the bad traffic in Klang Valley...Whenever i went outstation, mileage is 400-550km/full tank....Speed no less than 140km/hr..

During first 15k of driving Almera, my complaint was A-Z & 1- 99.....Now, i already get used to it...Its all about the driver anyway..

My advice:

1) Change d bloody ori RIM & TYRE...Countless time of near "buang car"
Try 195-60-15..Change sport rim..Mine is 6.5 inch wide..It helps ALOT..
Keep the ORI RIM if u scare void warranty...I dont care anyway...

2) For uphill task/Genting....ALWAYS off O/D ...No nid 2nd or 4th gear....
For downhill....use 2nd gear all the way or off O/D for 3rd gear if u prefer abit
more speed...No worry ur engine wont blow...

3) During cornering for speed above 100km/hr, u may off O/D just before d
cornering for more fun...I lovessss high speed cornering...By pressing off O/D..it
dowshift gear immediately...MAcam MANUAL...haha

4) My favourite petrol is BHP..Ron 95/97 also powerful...For more mileage can try
Petronas...I stopped using thou...Dunwan support BeEnd...Tulan keep on increase
price...

5) I been constantly surveying on how to made my rides better...in terms of engine
oil, suspension..etc...But I told myself to bear with it until the end of WARRANTY...
ALL BRAND will blame you for whateever malfunction...

Anyway...its been a long write up..This is just my experience sharing with fella Almerians...

DO NOT HATE ALMERA FOR WHAT OTHER SAID....LOVE IT FOR WHAT IT IS

Its been like that since day 1....

The only solution I been practising until now is.....Nvr ON ur A/C until d temperature bar is HALF....normaly it only tooks about 2-5 drive to goes up Half BAr...

Then u can safely switch on A/C...the sound will either be less noticeable or none at all...

Good luck.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Every new car will have common problem also,,depend on how's the service from SC help you to solve the problem only.

As long as the problems can be rectified, i don't mind. It is not okay if they say ok without solving anything.

Advanti Racing Storm Series 15inch pcd 4x100.....5.9kg each...better rolling resistance paired with Conti cc5 195-60-15...
Stock suspension coz ALmera very hard to find after market parts...
Anyway better use stock until end of warranty...later kantoi hahaha....

FC wise...i learnt to take it already...try to improve ur FC through longer route with more consistent speed rather than shorter bump to bump route....

Personally i prefer Enkei RPF 1 but Ori too expensive...settled for Advanti....Like the word STORM RIDER hehehe... cool2.gif cool2.gif cool2.gif

Hi guys,

What upgrades have you guys done so far?
Planning to upgrade my head unit. The only reason why I didn't take full spec. No USB input!!!
Also, FC is quite bad for me. Best I got is 450/highway 350/city. How do some of you pass 500km???

Maybe I got it first batch, so QC is a bit better.  sweat.gif

Let me share mine:-
1. Head lights aiming are off
2. A lot of body noise when when driving on uneven surface. The noise became so obvious after 3 weeks of collecting the car.
3. Driver seat become loose.
4. Brake pedal become loose too. It could be moved from left to right.

Previously my usb port cant read thumbdrive...straight away drive into tan chong segambut factory...no nid appointment...they fix for me within 1hr...

thats the difference between after market products...

So far I think the navigation thingy ok la...cant complain much..its oem Clarion anyway
