Hi,

Currently driving Almera E spec.

Plan to change tyres soon, currently using stock tyres Conti comfort contact cc5.

1) Should I change back to stock tyres? How much would it be per tyre? I am satisfied with the stock tyres but feel that can be more stable if get a bigger width tyres (195/60?)

2) If not, any recommendations of any other tyres? My main concern will be the cost as will be changing all 4 tyres at once. Hopefully around rm200 max per tyre. Wider and more stable tyres will be a plus point.

Thanks!

Isn't it a bit late to ask AFTER you paid?
*
Lol true also ah.. Nvm la, I was thinking quite Okay, since pay now the 1.6k, then no need to worry about service cost for next 3 services until 70k mileage..

Hi all,

Just booked my standard spec Almera, waiting for loan approve.

Just wondering anyone bring the car to Genting? You use D all the way up?
*
Can just use D, but you will soon realize that Almera will be underpowered when going uphill.

What you can do I press the OD button at your gear knob, or push gear lever to 2 when tackling steeper corners.

I myself went up Genting twice and Cameron once with no problems. Almera E spec. Good luck!

The NVH of Almera is better than many cars out there. Managed to bring it up to 100km/h, the car is quiet at both engine and road noise intrusion with no noticeable wing noise from the A pillar area.
*
This one I have to agree. Even at 140 also quite quiet for me.

However my only grouse is when the car moves from stationary. Will hear a distinct high pitch gear change sound from gear one to two.

Hi all,

I just serviced my car for 50k mileage.

When at home I checked the engine oil level but realized that it is below the "H" level on the dipstick.

Question is, can I ownself go and buy a bottle of synthetic engine oil and top it up myself or just let it be? Since it is not at nearing the "L" level.

If I were to top it up myself, what brand of engine oil is the one TC is using? Because I didn't ask them what brand where they using.

Thanks!!

Hello Bro, have your Almera brake problem solved?
Same as my Almera too, every time brake will heard a louder sound from the brake, quite annoying.
the sound like those old generation buses that made an emergency brake sound, i sent to SC and told
me that there is too much carbon, but after clean the problems still the same.

Anyhow, my car only has 2 years old, the problems only happen on last few weeks. Great if you can
share with us if there any finding. Thank you.
*
Hi Bro,

My 2 year old Almera also facing the same brake noise problem.

Sent to sc once to service, but noise came back after that so didn't bother until now.

i just worry if the new motor fan they change also have the same problem after 1 year?? or how to verify this?? it seems almost all almera get into this problem...should be a major issue?? if 1 or 2 cars nevermind...almost evry almera owner had face this issue... the locally manufacture parts sucks big time i guez... i slightly regret buying almera ady... fan motor very very important, it protects the engine,  cry.gif
how ensure the quality of the replacemant part?? it brand new or just repaired version frm other new almera cars which faced the motor problem?? how the warranty works??
*
Hi Bro,

I can only tell you from my experience, others might differ.

I realized there was a problem with the motor fan when one day I offed the engine, but the motor fan was still running for some time.

After a few days, it became more and more obvious. It became more and more noisy whenever I on the air cond. But I felt it only during slow speed.

At higher speed I don't feel the vibration. At standstill you can hear the fan rotating violently, but good thing is its still working.

In fact I drove with defect motor fan for at least another 600km before getting it changed. I don't recommend you do the same.

So what do you do when it happens? Don't panic. Make sure the problem is your motor fan first.

Call your nearest SC and make the nearest available appointment, and provided the SC has stock available. Some SC need 1 week to order and for the stock to arrive.

If it's within 3 years of your warranty period, it's free. However I asked, the cost of a motor fan is around rm700.

I did asked the SC whether they changed vendor and they said yes, however I am not sure whether for the face-lift version they have already changed it. Mine is pre face-lift

When will it happen? Nobody knows. Mine happened at 60k mileage. Some earlier, some later. But if it was meant to happen, better if during the warranty period.

Of course there was some regrets in buying Almera but hey, there are always service centres to help.

And don't get me started over bearing problems.. Let's keep that for another day. Mine yet to happen, but I am keeping an open and positive mind.

Cheers.

So how do we know the fan spoilt ? My condition above it is Fan problem or others unknown reason.

I think I left with two final service before 3 years warranty end. I will make sure have these two item brearing N air compressor fan check. Cheers
*
From your description it's not a faulty air cond motor fan but more like an Almera common "feature" because I also experience it every single morning hahaha..

For air cond motor fan, I can tell you that you won't miss it. The moment you on your air cond, you will hear a continuously loud sound from your air cond motor fan to a point you just want to throw the car away.

Bearing I can't tell you cos I am yet to experience, but I think currently I am experiencing it's early symptoms.

I knew the tuck following the zeee sound feature from day 1. Ha-ha but now it evolve to inconsistent zeee sound. Normally the zeee sound will be consistent and get weaker N lost in 1-2 seconds. But now the zee sound is up and down sound like zee zeeeet zeezeeet zeeeeeeeee zeeet. Feel like something is broken like a broken exhaust pipe. Really annoying and worrying where u know something is wrong but not consistent and unable to detect where went wrong. Seriously I own a wira saga FL N viva, none of them having such problem. Wan to sell off Almera but no resale value as serving 9 years loan. Hopeless car and I'm telling others stop considering buying Almera.

Best option to send for SC Check since still under warranty.

Last time my saga BLM also no such problem.

What to do, already bought Haha.. Just live with it..
