those are cocopeat/neopith; free of pathogenic bacteria, absorbs waste and takes a long while to stink.

but of course got to spot clean poops and change the medium after a while.

imho, a great medium for tropical species kept indoors.

camillenoir got it right. frankly, i've never noticed any stink (except when there are visible poops)

take note that this is best ONLY for tropical species since it can maintain the humidity very well. not suitable for desert species or dryland species (sulcata, star, etc).
plus have to mist regularly to prevent it drying up and becomes dusty (may cause irritation to the tort).
you find them at nurseries, and some pet shops (88, NA, etc)

they are very cheap and sold in blocks. you have to soak them in water before use.

you're probably referring to 4-eye turtle (Sacalia quadrocellata), many stocks just came in.

note: wait for them to fully extend their neck.

irene? I go there often. I wanted to get a Common Snapping Turtle from there. Their pets aren't exactly the healthiest... Their baby common snapping turtles are cute lar, but got all these white patches on the body (on all four legs and even tail. 2 of the babies were so sick it could hardly move. The white also coated the eye lids). I know it's either a disease or a vitamin deficiency, so I purposely ask the pet shop worker 'wat is the white patches?" just to alert them that their turtles are sick.

=.=" The person tell me so many excuses.

1st excuse = nothing lar. Just skin shedding.
I used to have 2 RES for 3 years before they were stolen so I know the difference between skin shedding or not. So I tell him "I had turtles. Shedding don't look like that".

2nd Excuse = Nothing wan. Just body pattern growing in as it grow up.
Worse excuse ever.... There is a larger version of the CST in the tank right below the baby's tank and it looks nothing like the babies with white patches. The larger CST is healthy and obviously no white patches.

3rd Excuse = Don't worry la. It will just drop off wan.
If it's a disease or a deficiency, it obviously won't just "drop off". Plus all the 3 reasons aren't even related! That just tells me he doesn't know what he's saying and is just making up excuses.

BTW the false eye was so cute! I would get it if it wasn't so costly...

Today I went to 8 aquarium shops. Among all of them, IRENE has the most tortoise/turtle

Highlight: I found 2 baby alligator snapping turtle at Kepong, Kin Fatt. Length is around 2 inch (without tail)

Selling at RM350 each

When I was there, it was feeding time. Those 2 ate around 6 small fishes in less than 5 minutes. Wah lao.. can really eat. The fish is around 2cm

These 2 looked very nice and healthy. Unfortunately I'm not looking for this alli

If anyone knows where to buy Radiata, do let me know. I prefer to be small size ones.

i really doubt the fact that they are false-eyed/hainan eyed turtle (Sacalia pseudocellata). The species is so questionable (might be intergeneric hybrid or even hybrid between S. quadriocellata and Cuora trifasciata) that even scientists and taxonomists are baffled. the seller probably heard four-eyed turtle and misinterpreted (intentionally or not) the turtle as false eye turtle.

when i got my Sacalias back then, it was wrongly labelled as Burmese Four Eyed Turtle. senseless, since Sacalias are native to countries on the other side of the indochina. not as bad as the vendors who claimed Notochelys platynota (Malayan Flatshelled Turtle) to come out of Africa, LMAO!!

truth is, sellers will come out with anything to make sales, so best make our own research.
