Be careful of impaction even thou some of the very small pieces are excreted with their poo I believe some still remain inside
Fine Sand which are smaller than the small pieces of loose styrofoam you mention and some but not all are always excreted with their poo in all Chelonian kept outdoors No matter how fine the sand are they still cause impaction
All the best

They might chew on the silicon surface which are accessible to them the best they can do to the tank's silicon are to claw them out but RES and Boxie are not strong enough (both type of Snapper on the other hand are strong enough to clawed out the silicon holding the tank )

QUOTE(HughieRmX @ Apr 27 2007, 07:35 PM) Ooh. I see. Thanks for telling me that HmMm ... I saw the blood came from those injured areas and sometimes undetectable as well .. no wounds but yet the water turn into reddish .. They lay it inside the water .. mind I asked why it will be lost ? Regards, HughiE If on land eggs if unburied the air will dry the egg and kill the embyro If in water the embyro will drown as simple as that

QUOTE(camillenoir @ May 4 2007, 12:11 PM) Softshells got some Pelodiscus sinensis farms that produce thousands for consumption. got a Chitra chitra farm in Johor. Batagur/Callagur Batagur conservation centre in Bota, Perak and a Callagur centre in Terengganu (don't know i they still open or closed already) Marine turtles Hatcheries in Sabah (green), Terengganu (leatherback), Melaka (hawksbill) I think other than the Softshell that are bred for commercial sale the rest are " can see but not for sale " I think there might be many backyard breeder that breed a few species for sale but sales are thru private sale and by word of mouth only Who knows as when there are demand and price not too bad there will be supply ( imported , smuggled or breeding ) to satisfied the demand

QUOTE(White Palace @ Jun 29 2007, 10:13 AM) Juz a thought, is it a must for sea turtle to stay in salt water? It is illegal to keep any species of sea turtle !!!!! Be warned But just for your information they can be de-saline over a period of time to be kept in freshwater But their shell will suffer !!!!!
