Hi all...went to Ikano today...saw some big tortoises in the big jungle enclosure....and seekor big Softshell macam sesat inside. The rest are all what i've seen since last time. Today gatal go tanya how much is the juvenile Star Tortoise hehheheh...RM230...is that a reasonable price?  smile.gif

Anyway saw some Yellow Bellied Sliders smile.gif Pretty striking laaa the colour...RM40...thinking hard thinking hard... rclxub.gif

Uzairi i wanna see pictures of your Asian Leaf!! HHehehheh...sorry getting impatient when it comes to turtles! Maaf laa bro always urge you...sorry sorry... icon_rolleyes.gif
Kamekame.
*
Im not sure but i think that's not a softshell. Because last time i see it was an Asian Giant Pond Turtle, not a softshell. And juvenile star for rm230 is a overkill. Their prices always changing one coz they sell it expensive ppl dun wanna buy.

U want the pictures badly eh ? Give me 1-2 days, i'll post the pictures for u dont worry. Now a bit busy coz preparing to go back to cyberjaya.

QUOTE(ekiddie @ Oct 31 2006, 09:16 PM)
de big softshell u see which u claimed sesat is not a softshell... it's a pignose turtle... hehe... kinda big yet fat hor... hahaaa!!

yellow bellied slider RM40 d ar?? de other day i went it was RM50! apalar...

why not just go for star tortoise kamekame? or de yellow bellied slider oso can ar? as it's something diff unlike common RES...

asian leaf i wud say not so nice lor... hehe... see lar... mayb diff ppl diff view kua...

wink.gif

Eh, just wondering. Is it normal for Tortue to sleep all day long when he's being drydocked? (Actually there is nothing for him to do oso apart from sleep and pee/poop!)
*
Yeah, its completely normal. But remember not to let him to be so dry ok ?

QUOTE(ekiddie @ Nov 1 2006, 07:02 PM)
if de 'softshell' tat kamekame is referring to in at de entrance where it is housing together wif the giant tortoises... well, under the water wan is definately a pignose turtle... but if u said inside the blue tank... tat i really donno but i've asked uzairi and he told me it's a donno wat terrapin d... hehe...

wink.gif
*
Inside the blue tank is either Painted Terrapin(Calagur) or River Terrapin(Batagur). The one that were housed together with burmese mountain tortoise im not sure coz last time i saw was a Giant Asian Pond turtle.

QUOTE(Drascox @ Nov 2 2006, 10:10 AM)
daily 23 drydock? oh you mean 23 hours dry for turtle?

23 drydock usually for treating turtles with serious fungus problem, with proper medicine and care, turtle will usually be quite ok within 1 week... and yes, turtle are really stressful during this treatment, but its require for its own good...

slight fungus problem can be cured using salt water soaking method...
*
For shell rot problems, i usually use sea cucumber oil (Minyak Gamat) to treat them. Firstly i drydock them for 1 day and the next day i use dettol to clean the infected place, let it dry and then put a little sea cucumber oil. It works for me. smile.gif

oo so dettol and minyak gamat also can aa. no need for me to go buy some iodine/bethadine later.

hehe, sure cannot find in internet this method even if you google for it. mana ade minyak gamat at negara mat salleh  laugh.gif
*
Dettol and betahadine/iodine have almost the same antiseptic functions so u can use either one. As for the sea cucumber(gamat) i experimented it myself and i get positive results. The wounds and the rotten shell stopped and curing, so i think its a good solution too since we can get plentiful supply of them here in malaysia. But remember not to put excessive sea cucumber at one place, they are still oil and might danger the turtles itself.

QUOTE(ekiddie @ Nov 2 2006, 03:37 PM)
so uzairi... r u gonna get it coz' i'm very sure to buy it d... c'mon... get one ler... need not alwiz change water for them mar... especially ur malayan box... too cumbersome to do it often... hehe... kasi poison skit...  blush.gif

Ive already put my boxie on the soil, giving them the natural feel. The ones still in the tank are snappers and asian leaf. I might get one but not so soon coz now no cash. sweat.gif

minyak gamat = miracle cure
after 1 day of drydock, i applied dettol, wait to dry and then put some gamat yesteryday. this morning i was shocked to find the infected areas 80% healed (at least visually). this morning i applied again. cant wait to see the results this evening.

however, im still worried about the infected areas at the plastron since they have no access to the uvb rays
*
Hehe, nice aite ? That's why im sharing it with u guys. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(meiteoh @ Nov 3 2006, 11:22 AM)
Gamat? What's gamat???? Where to get ar?
*
Minyak gamat is sea cucumber's oil. You can get it from any pharmacies i supposed.

I understand. Yeah, u are correct about that, the plastron wont be getting any uva/uvb at all. Maybe when we drydock them, we can put some gamat oil to the infected place.

Yeah, i did notice about the mud turtle but im not so sure about it. Ive been wandering around trying to find the real species. Coz there's only two of them that got the white spot behind its head. Others dont have at all. Maybe tomorrow i'll check again for the white spots behind their head again. ::

I was wandering why its different from this one since i got them.
http://www.chelonia.org/cdentatasc3.jpg

This is the best page that clearly shows the picture of the specimen.
http://www.asianturtlenetwork.org/field_gu...rassicollis.htm

Update about the white spot behind their head.
QUOTE
Although abundant throughout much of the Southeast Asian rainforest, this shy species is seldom seen in the wild. It lives in Thailand, Sumatra, Borneo, Java and peninsular Malaysia. It is almost all black, with several white markings on its head. The eyes are outlined in white. (Adult males lose the white markings.) The feet are fully webbed. The carapace has a rear serrations, a center keel and sometimes 2 lateral keels. It is a small turtle that rarely reaches 8".
I get confused so many times now. Firstly the Malayan Flat Shelled turtle and now this Malayan Black Mud turtle. doh.gif

Thanks to you. If its not because of your curiosity i wont know its a different species. laugh.gif

Indeed, but they are very shy. Especially the females, they never eat in front of me. How's your quest for turtles ? Come la join the fun here. brows.gif

And my friend's Black Breasted Leaf Turtle stocks were not that good either. Most probably because they stressed, a few of them died already. cry.gif

They are just too small, indeed a good price but scared later they cannot adapt to new environment. Anybody with musk turtles do give your opinions here. notworthy.gif

There's 3 type of Gallon that were used until today. I think the one that ure mentioning is U.S. liquid gallon. They way to calculate is correct like what u had shown.

Some info about Gallons : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gallon
