Since they did do a test on carbon dating and research about the history, i think its true and partly accurate. Few them did have historical stories like they were taken in by Charles Darwin and were given as presents from royal family so i think its true. Depends on the individual whether they want to believe it or not.

Cheapest Radiated i've seen was rm600. That was for a hatchlings, and mind you they are very prone to get sick so its not worth it. I myself also scared to take the risk even tough its cheap.

Small ones are prone to health desease, later u buy then fall sick how ? Mine last time i bought for rm250 each for a 4 inch specimen. At least they are more hardy and less prone to fall sick. I think u can start with an Elongated Tortoise first. Not that beautiful but i want it myself but yet until now no money to get them.

QUOTE(bubucaca @ Nov 12 2006, 10:18 PM) hmm..so expensive? i bought my tortoise for 50cent now as big as a CD size. Yes, they are priced like that depending on the stocks. About the poo, i think u can place a bowl where they can go inside it. They usually likes to poo inside the water. When i put a bowl inside my tank, they drink some water and start poo-ing and pee-ing inside the bowl. But its cleaner and better that way.btw got any effective and easy way to clean tortoise poo? because im going oversea soon and my parents dont know how to handle my baby. so i need a plan a easy way for them to clean it rather then handling the tortoise. QUOTE(EuJax @ Nov 13 2006, 12:05 AM) Actually Elongate tortoise is not cheaper then Star tortoise i think...usually they are above RM150 for hatcling...maybe someone seen them with lower price? Both are nice tortoise i would say. Ive seen a few of those Elongated were selling for Rm150 for a specimen around 5-6 inches. And i think they are the cheapest tortoise we can get. Forstein's are more expensive and they are rarer.bubucaca, change the bedding often. I guess thats the easiest way. Regards |

QUOTE(ekiddie @ Nov 13 2006, 08:45 AM) i oso says tat elongated are more harder to source compared to stars... stars are everywhere! i'm sure smugglers had brought them in... Simple, this is because Star Tortoise have more demand compared to Elongated Tortoise.i've seen new stocks of them in most shops tat sells tortoises... QUOTE(sayasebuk @ Nov 13 2006, 10:02 AM) star tortoise for 50 cents? or do you mean the green turtle? Well, different turtles have different characteristics. But most of the turtles/tortoise will poo inside the water.i now feed my RES and malayan box outside of the tank. after feeding time, normally 1/2 hour to 1 hour later my RES will poo inside the water. But the same thing does not happen to my malayan box. After more than 1 hour still no more poo. So when i put back in the tank, he'll poo in the tank (not sure when does he poo. sedar2 dah ade). Do malayan box take longer time to poo? |

QUOTE(ekiddie @ Nov 13 2006, 04:26 PM) bigger oso less petter will wants it, izzit? tat's why it's cheaper too i wud say... given me... i still wants a hatchling ally snapper than an adult ally snapper... hehe... I prefer to take the big ones, they are nasty. QUOTE(kamekame8888 @ Nov 13 2006, 05:49 PM) Ya...Sulcata tortoise is nice too If they grow big and you cant take care of them, im glad to adopt it from you. Some of the forumers are doing so. They didnt even sell it to me, they give it for free to me. They just want me to take good care of them, provided i update with them about their turtle/tortoise when they are with me. Their love for turtle/tortoise never gone even without their chelonians with them. Kamekame. |

QUOTE(kamekame8888 @ Nov 15 2006, 09:55 PM) Currently no, no money to go out. QUOTE(BillyJoe2212 @ Nov 15 2006, 10:04 PM) Umm Hi....I am interested in getting an Alligator Snapping Turtle (preferably hatchling), anyone can point me to the right direction? I am staying in PJ and I have been to a couple of reputed pet stores (88 pet store, Irene Aquarium, and a few others) and all I have found are common snappers. Firstly, caring an Ally Snapper is not as easy as it looks. I would recommend you to get other turtles first and then slowly increase the turtle level. That way is much better.Would any of the members here recommend a place to purchase one and around how much damage am I going to be looking at? Thanks in advance for all and any feedback!! Cheers! For now, there's no stock for juvenile ally. There's only adult ally which were selling at around rm1k each. QUOTE(ekiddie @ Nov 15 2006, 11:35 PM) if u find any... damage wud probably be > RM200 for a hatchling... hehe... good choice... very coOL attitude turtle... Cool attitude ? Wait till u have one, you'll know how 'cool' they are. QUOTE(bubucaca @ Nov 16 2006, 12:22 AM) Yeah, they eat fish. About RES, my adult RES eat fishes too. I feed them once in a week with feeding fish and they just love it. |

QUOTE(ekiddie @ Nov 16 2006, 01:28 AM) i wud say a common snapper are more agressive than de ally snapper... as they have a longer neck hence can attack our hand easier... they haf de 'attack power' or izzit called 'striking distance'?? They are not aggressive as ally snapper. The common snapper are just more active compared the ally snapper.QUOTE(BillyJoe2212 @ Nov 16 2006, 08:52 AM) Since you have a common snapper last time, then i don't think its hard for you. They are roughly the same just that they differ in the way they eat and how active they are. Ally snappers are more aggressive compared to common snapper. And they don't chase their food like how common snapper did. They need a good filtration system to prevent algae build up on their carapace. Try to avoid handling them as they can be quite aggressive and might snap you finger off easily. Other than that i don't think there's anything left. |

QUOTE(bubucaca @ Nov 16 2006, 03:11 PM) Mine sometimes i feed them shrimps and crickets too. QUOTE(BillyJoe2212 @ Nov 16 2006, 03:37 PM) Hi again uzairi! Thanks again for your feedback and I really appreciate you taking the time to answer me. Glad to know that caring for them is similiar to the common snapper, I loved my snapper...unfortunately I had to let it go. Anyway I am back for good now and finally setlling down, meaning I can dedicate more time to my pets. Now that I know I can take care of an Ally Snapper.....all I need to do is to find a place or someone to sell me a hatchling Another thing i missed, they grow quite big and you need a big tank ready for them. Furthermore they can grow quite fast in the earlier years of their lives and they ate quite a lot so be ready to fork some money for their foods. |

QUOTE(BillyJoe2212 @ Nov 17 2006, 10:10 AM) Hi again uzairi! Heheh yeah...been reading up care sheets and skulking in other forums to learn more about Ally Snappers. I am quite aware as to how big they can get and I am not too worried about space as I am ready for it. I don't mind spending a little on food too, so long as my pet is happy! The smallest ally snapper was at Pets Safari which retails for rm500.QUOTE(mwtang @ Nov 17 2006, 11:17 AM) Woah, nice man. How much u bought them and share some pictures. |
