Found this link for Compal NL8 (from the original laptop manufacturer) --> for download drivers, bios, update, and user manual.
http://www.ftpsearch.co/browse-en/70.35.58...ook/Compal/NL8/

the drivers look similar like illegear provided but Just follow up with what illegear providing.

I was planning to buy z5 after my final sem test (around cny). So... Is it worth it to add the ram to 16gb? And im planning to buy without os and install win 7 basic manually.

konklusi

unless you are working with very heavy graphics or video editing software, i don't see the point of getting beyond 8gb.
besides, it leaves room for future upgrade to 16gb, which is definitely gonna be cheaper at that time compared to now.

that's just my personal opinion

I remember when I first bought my Z5, one of the right USB 3.0 couldn't detect anything.
What I did was plug in an old wired mouse for it to auto detect and then it started working again.
Sounds like a problem there...

Have been following this up for almost a month and a half. In the end, the MVP , Patrick, told me that I might get hardware failure issue.

Here's my experience. Sometimes I got black screen after BIOS , and BSOD of DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE happened.

If I'm not mistaken, I carry in this laptop at 22-Dec last year. I got my first BSOD at 1st Jan. Here's my record.

1 Jan - twice
3 Jan - once
14 Jan - once
15 Jan - twice
22 Jan - once
26 Jan - once
5 Feb- once
10 Feb - once
15 Feb - once

FYI, I'm in Penang and currently working. It's really hard for me if you asked me to carry-in the laptop to the outlet.

Somehow around 22 Jan I asked for help at Sysnative forum, enabled verifier (details please refer to the link above) , find out the culprit was RealSpeed.exe from Realtek, the WinpkFilter inside it. I uninstalled it, the BSOD issue during boot up still persisted.

Now it might be a hardware issue, but Chin stated before that if it's a hardware issue, it should be getting BSOD every few minutes.

Any suggestion what I could do now?

Well, I suggest you to send it back to ILLEGEAR. Use POST LAJU to ship it to them. Post Laju will be more efficient compared to GDex most of the time. Just let them test your machine out. If you're not using it for your work, try reformatting your z5 to windows 7 or other windows version. See if the problem still persist.

I personally had encountered 5 BSOD, 2 Power_State_Failure, 1 System_Service_Exception, 1 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA and 1 unknown error code BSOD. I suspect it is all due to driver issue as after updating my driver most of them is solved except the latest Power_State_Failure BSOD as all driver is up to date.

Windows 8.1 is really not a good OS compared to windows 7. I'm not having any problem when I self install windows 7 on my old laptop, but win8.1 is having a lot of issue sweat.gif

Edit: Please make sure you UNINSTALL the internet booster called RealSpeed. As I mentioned it in a very early post to you. The driver is not compatible with intel AC card

I am getting power state failure all the time. drivers updated to the latest, same goes to OS. After I uninstalled the RealSpeed. exe I thought the issue should be solved but then its not.

Yea I know. I had read your post. I just want to point it out so next time if you're setting it up again you won't install that Driver again.
Did you try install a different OS ? I think you better ship your Z5 back to ILLEGEAR to have them test on it. That's your only choice I afraid.

Hi Xarive,

I suggest you to send in your laptop after CNY (23/24th Feb) so we can have a chance to test your laptop completely.

How long approximately it can be done? Can I take it back on the spot?

EDIT: Could it be possible that I close the laptop up before it completely shut down and cause the problem? Mostly I close my laptop up after the screen goes black and the black lit key goes dim, but shits happen sometimes maybe I close my laptop before the back-lit key disappeared.

We need time to do complete diagnose with our OS, your BSOD issue is a very intermittent problem.

If I gotta head down to KL, I need to back on that day. So maybe early in the morning I go to the outlet , left my laptop there, evening I visit to take back. Is this okay for you?

Because your hardware is meant to use that driver software. Realspeed is tend to be for RealTek, not Intel AC card smile.gif
Correct me if I'm wrong

Well, it is better to leave it for few days so they got sufficient time to test thoroughly. If your laptop doesn't have any important or private stuff, ask them to use your OS and check for the error also. So they can compare your OS and their OS.
I suggest you find another temporary machine to use for your work.
Maybe after sending it to them, ask them to ship it back to you after they had done analyzing and fixing your machine. I believe the return shipping fee is covered by ILLEGEAR

3 - is the USB thing happened to every user?

4 - how about the BSOD thing?

1. The battery stuff is already mentioned in previous post or in one of the thread in this section, search for it

2. I personally haven't tried to open the laptop yet. But Prince J said Z5 required more tearing, it is a little more complicated.

3. So far I didn't encounter the USB issue. The only issue is sometime I can't seem to power up or detect my external hard disk/optical drive, which I assume is my wire problem. Pendrive is having no issue on it so mostly is wire problem.

4. If you're afraid of BSOD, purchase OS from them so they will set up everything necessary for you. DOS version tend to face more BSOD if you are not aware what you are installing and what you should install.
