After multiple calls to microsoft help line, they scheduled a remote session with their tech and confirmed my win8 is genuine and my activation problem, they decided to generate a new key for my win10, will be getting it later today in the afternoon. Give them a call asap coz scheduling a session with their tech has a dam long waiting list and they dont work on weekends.

I use http://www.lelong.com.my/cooler-master-not...5-10-Sale-P.htm.

Btw, turn off Intel Turbo Boost to reduce the heat. I noticed if turn on, CPU easily went above 80-90.
*
Does the cooling pad help lowering your Z5's temperature?

80~90 is ALOTT!!! ohmy.gif Mine goes 76 maximum even during ultra settings gaming.
I didn't turn off my Turbo Boost since getting my S5 (it's turned on by default, right?).
I am only changing the power options between power saving > balanced > high performance and the temperature gets around 55~65 idle during high performance mode, 40~50 during power saving mode.

guys currently i'm using 8GB ram in my z5, if i wanna upgrade to 16GB, jz pay for another 8GB price? or the dual channel type of 16GB(8+8?) is different from the standard 8?
*
Hi Blizzard,

I suggest you to use the exact same ram to do dual channel.

I think huislaw is talking about the i7-4720HQ temperature with Intel Turbo Boost enabled. It's quite common to have that temperature with intel turbo boost. We have seen lot of processors running at 95C to 98C with Turbo Boost on.

Disable the intel turbo boost for lowering CPU temperature.

Yes it helps. So far cpu max only 80 with turbo on n GPU Max 70. If turbo off can reduce around 10. Let me do some more test when free.

Turbo off also don't feel diff in gaming. Looking for way to off it by default since always forget to off it.

Definitely getting a cooler pad and hopefully it doesn't blow more dust into my laptop.
How do you turn off the Turbo Boost? blush.gif blush.gif

yeah same, and once i've finish gaming, off the turbo boost, and wait awhile, the temperature goes down fairly quickly. thumbup.gif

Ram .. Dual channel.. Y ppl recommend to get the same rams same brand etc at that time because its better to have the same ic on the ram binned with the same jdec timings. Bioses on mobos are updated with different ics.
So things get whack sometimes when you pair different ics with same spec. Because the drive by the imc skews are different. Laptop n desktop is the same in this respect. Totally would listen to PrinceJ

Take a wiff n technical support in lyn. U will see alot of ppl having issues after some time with upgrades on ram with same spec but most probably different ics on them. Ics are binned n improve regulary as well to increase yield n reduce cost.

Are you playing on a hardsurface in a good ventilated area??
Nvr seen the temps on cpu hit that high.
if ure in a warm area its better to just put the fan at high.

High temps wont kill the cpu or gpu. It can affect other components durability that are prone to heat like vram for the gpu n rams etc..

So do whatever u can dude to lower it. If i have to game in battery mode for a while in less ideal situation.. I would use battery boost in nvidia gfe n let it optimise the game to lower setting to hit that frame rate.

90c..

Theres another possibility. All cpu has different vids. Some lower n some higher that corresponds to different voltage hence different temps. Btw i am not sure but guessing u lucked out with a higher vid. Again just guessing here.

if i constantly leaving the turbo boost on while plugged on. will it harm the lappy?
(not on games always)
and how about leaving the fan on maximum in another case. will it result in fan durabilty loss?

Msata increases boot time on os. 256gb barely enough for a gaming install drive. Nowadays need 500gb to 1tb.

Tech 8gb is enough. Since vram is at 3gb n swap reseved n most games are at 4-5. So 8 is borderline. Pagefile is needed for hybrid sleep/hibernate. So its enough. Rams in general with ddr4 coming soon.. Ddr3 prices will go up...

Msata... Sata interface price is dropping since smaller fabs in nand n new tech in stacking. It however faces challenges from pcie based m.2 n the new nvme standard. But those are expensive atm..

So decide base on this dude.

why ddr4 coming soon, and ddr3 price will go up? shouldnt ddr4 be better than dd3 ._.

i dont get the msata part thou, btw my comp is running one 1TB SSHD already, hence considering the MSATA
