Well im from penang so...  XD
You mean the hinge has been changed to aluminium since then? Because there is only 1 model that goes by the Z5 name and customers customize the specs to their liking.

I thought of waiting for the arrival of core i7 6x00 series (skylake) but it might get even more expensive if there is such an option. hmm.gif
*
the new version it's covered with anodized aluminium, the old version is plastic, but then the hinge is still metal internally.

and based on the discussion of a few forumers previously they've said that skylake will result in increase in cost,

and the performance, gaming wise not much, since it depends on GPU also.

correct me if i'm wrong. u can look it up, jz few pages bfore this.

Ohh, finnaly decided jumping to Illegear already? brows.gif

Anyway, the only major difference with previous processor with the skylake series would be i7-6x00 series has onboard graphics (Good for troubleshooting when your dedicated graphics is down) and consume lesser power than the previous gen. In terms of 3D rendering, both would still be very similar too(4 core, 8 threads, both have Hyper Threading). I think that wouldn't be a problem if you wanna go with the current processor for now. tongue.gif

But if you go to gaming, best of all you will not even notice any big difference when you game between those 2 as current gaming tech still heavily relying on your graphics card to process.
Unless the GPU manufacture will release the new series of GPU, that would be another story.

???? 4720hq uses igpu hence optimus tech as well.

Main difference with skylake is

Nvme pcie m.2 4x via pch
Native usb 3.1/type c via 100 series chipset

Don't forget about the ddr4 ram and chipset too..both has better efficiency.

The ram also has higher clock speed is much faster than ddr3

But I think the price will increase

Edit: usb 3.1 also

Im thinking of this Z5 for my next laptop but im concerned about the hinge some reviewers are talking about (but they seem biased to me). My current Asus laptop already has hinge issues and i dont need another one which will give me similar issues in the future.
*
I went there to view the laptop today. The hinge feels pretty solid to me.

I saw the new Asus ROG machines (with that ridiculous water cooler which i wont need but still looks pretty damn cool), but at prices of USD$1500 and our current exchange rates, no, not happening. So im looking at Illegear now.
Im just a casual gamer to be honest, i dont push the game to max graphics and i even turn off V-sync, in favor of consistent frame rate and most importantly less heat production. I need the performance of a gaming laptop mainly for multitasking and editing huge raw photos from my DSLR as a photographer.

Great. GPU i'll probably stick to the 960M 4GB DDR5, but i want to push the RAM to 16GB. I need a gaming spec laptop mainly for multitasking and editing RAW photos from DSLR cams (hence i will need to add in the screen color calibration). Gaming-wise im just a casual gamer, i dont push graphical settings to maximum in favor of lower heat production.

My past experience, two Dells with burnt motherboards. Heck, i very scared to push graphical limits even though my laptop may be able to handle it, even if i know brands like Illegear and Asus perform better in the aspect of heat ventilation. Rather play safe unless im in aircond room. My campus hostel does not have aircond, laptops get hot very fast on a warm day.

Hard for me to be sure. As i didnt game between all the updates for most of the games i have

BAK impressive.
Vsync 60
Texture Normal
Everything high
Physx last two enabled.

43-55fps on batmobile
60fps everything else.
Benchmark.. Ignore the min as the benchmark starts off low n then maintains 59-60fps all the way to the end with avg 59.

But again as with project cars.. 60fps .. Min 55...
I am seeing my gpu@70s n cpu @80s.

All done in living room ..ambient about 29c according to my room temp probe that i have arnd the hse..

Btw those who wanted skylake procs.. Check msi pricing n be prepared to be mind blown.. Cheapest with 970m 256gb ssd rm9++k. A freaking 970m.
