Hello my house just finish build and now start doing electrical & wiring work.
But they quote my another cost saying do air cond piping, as at below:
2.5 HP - Rm 960
2.0 HP - Rm 805
(they say is pull to behind of the house so total length is 45 ft.)
Can i ask all sifu here izzit the price reasonable?
And izzit necessary to do it now or can wait the aircond seller to install later?
Pls help me coz they r waiting my reply.

Basically for best result and saving your electric bills, both units shall be installed as near as possible.
If your house is double storey type, the outdoor unit can be installed on top of the car porch roof.

Guys. Saw at SenHeng Panasonic Inverter (2015 Model) 5 Years Extended Warranty plus Installation around RM1.7k. Is that a good deal?
*
Why want to get next year's model?
Get this year model or last year will be cheaper.
Old stock but never been powered before will be as good as new.
But make sure they are giving full warranty.

Don't worry too much on Japanese brands, you won't be wrong most of the time, but not Kimchi brands whistling.gif

Does anyone have reliable and honest aircond repairman they can recommend? I need one to come take a look at mine.

I suspect my aircond is not draining the water properly cos the wall around it is slightly damp. Also, I can't switch it on, not sure if aircond problem or remote.  The remote not showing anything when I press Switch On.
Appreciate any help and thanks.
*
Just before you proceed further, did you :
change the remote's battery?
how long never service the air cond?
plastic filter got take out and clean or not?

Yes, I tested the aircond remote with batteries that worked in other remotes.  The little screen is blank. But when I switched on the aircond main switch, I do hear a beeping sound from the aircond unit.  i tried to look for the button in the aircond unit to see if I can manually switch it on to test but cannot find this button. I'm using LG aircond.

Actually the aircond has never been serviced since I bought it a few years ago. I hardly use it also, maybe on average about 20 days a year of usage. I do clean the filter about once a year.

I see, looks like more on hardware issues.

not sure this is terrace or what ? Should consider mounting it on the side of the house . Really spoil the look of the house by placing in front . Furthermore its directly under the entrance door which is more easier to notice . Placing on balcony floor is good option but if insist to put below entrance maybe can consider putting a steel louver to block it .
*
Install in the front won't really spoil the look.

performance series ?
i see... before this i dont know how to calculate electric consumption

thanks.. that shop also got pana but quite pricey.. they push either Mitsu or sharp
*
They charge higher on installation with poor workmanship.
Mine was installed by them, the main pipe was damaged partially by them, need rm600 to change. They did it as they need to make money from me later on.

Dear all

is inverter type air con necessary?
How will the electricity cost difference for inverter and non-inverter?

I am considering to take panasonic brand. Any long term user for panasonic here?
*
Yes and no.
Yes if you are using long period of time.
No if you are using short period of time.
For me, long is > 4 hours and short is < 4 hours.
And do consider other factors like your wall, surface area of the room.

Install between dining and living hall, nearer to living side. No point install on top of the window(by logic, that's the easiest place with less hacking job.
Using the plaster ceiling sides to cover the hose.

Since all 3 unit of yours broke down within 2 years, which is quite uncommon...You should change your aircond man...aircond man plays the most important role for your aircond aside from user problem. No matter how quality is the aircond, if aircond man install not good...all also no use
*
Some air cond man will cause some damage to the air cond when installing. Sort of they have agreement with the shop we buy.
Mine are typical, they purposely bend the connecting pipe more causing metal stress to it. It is done in a way such that after few service, it will fail. Lucky I change air cond man which is my neighbor and he has to do welding each time servicing my air cond.

thanks for the info sir, great help!  thumbup.gif

i choose to upgrade from 1hp to 1.5hp because the materroom cool up very slow. i not sure if this is because the half spoilt aircon performance or what but my masterroom is just normal for apartment level.

been following this post for sometimes, it seems like most recommeding to go for Mitshubishi, might need to dropby some electric shop to look for this brand then. icon_question.gif

btw the about the piping, i thought it can be done by the AC installation guy as well no? i need to look for other ppl for the piping installation ?
*
For your case, install 1.5HP would be better, may reduce your electric bill also.
If you are changing from non-inverter to inverter, you may need to redo the piping works.
Installing air cond means the fellow will do from A to Z. If you done the initial piping work right, then minimum hacking required.

Well, either hack it or bypass it by laying new piping.

dear sifus.....i have been using panasonic airconds in my house

no matter how i vacuum my entire house which help reduce the dust tremendously....on top of the daily floor mopping and weekend walls vacuuming and fan cleaning....
the aircon filter get's clogged up within 3 weeks and some dust actually went through the standard mesh filters....as a result.....i need to get a technician to take down the indoor unit and wash it thoroughly almost like every 10 months to 1 yr

i read earlier bro kimsim proposing to put some filters on top the mesh filter....

instead of doing that, can i replace with this Honeywell Filter A Universal Carbon Pre-filter, HRF-AP1 totally?

how else can i reduce the dust level from clogging the aircon?
i've tried adding air purifiers in the room, constant vacuum cleaning

my house is pet free and no construction from neighbours...plus its not near any main road
*
Cotton, stay near to main roads are the actual cause.

Some might not benefit from the inverter function. As an example, tthose who regularly set their aircond to ice cold, (Below 20c) will not benefit from using inverter as the compressor will run at full power all the time trying to achieve the set temp. For these people they are better off buying non inverters
*
Not really, the key point for inverter work better over non inverter is :
1. duration of usage a day
2. setting of temperature
3. room setup
4. paint used

True that. But I would say the key points are the temp and duration. Main advantage of inverter is the variable speed compressor. Once it reaches ur set temp it will slow down. So if you set the temp too low,it will take longer to reach that temp, hence the compressor will take longer to slow down. Inverter starts to save electricity once it has slowed down the compressor. For example like me, on average my room temp is about 29c. (I have a clock with temp and humidity reading) I set my aircond at 24c. It can reach that temp in about half an hour. So from that point onwards I save electricity already.
*
Yup, inverter with variable speed while non inverter fixed speed.
When it kick start the compressor, it will draw more current. So keeping the compressor running will prevent this.

i still cant decide which inverter Air to get for my living room and share some cool wind to the dining area?

To get 2.5 or 3hp which brand to go for powerful wind if required, fast cooling power.

any suggestion?

living room about 22x10 feet.
*
Living room just get normal will do, unless you are turning it on for > 5 hours.
