Not sure if this has been mentioned here or not. Panasonic 2015 models including the non inverter ones have switched fully to R410A.

1st R22 non inverter not really cold as R410A.
2nd R22 compres used higher input watt.
3rd R22 outdoor runs on heated like no tomorrow.
4th R22 compressor and mounting not last than R410A also vibration much higher chance.
5th R22 cheaper than R410A units only smile.gif

Even R410A trade in also much higher value.

In my passed 10 yrs ++ user experience switch from R22 non inverter to inverter R410A so far so good.
I really love my inverter at all thumbup.gif

Quiet + realiable + comfort + energy saving all in inverter model can found it.

(Salesman won't tell you inverter works much better than non-inverter as a target what ever brands or models able to promote or sells more that is thier jobs only)

I've always thought all the improvement in your points above is due to inverter compressor/motor, not due to r22 vs r401a.

in the history for non-inverter were R22.
Inverter was R410A gas.

Inverter for old Daikin also had R22 but not as cold than R410A model.

Passed few year already launched by York for R410A non-inverter until Pana so far late 2014 also had thier new R410A non-inverter model.

But in the pass few year ME in SG has been tried their non-inverter via R410A on 2014 has been discontinued, may some reason : like mirror screen turn into forging or trunking casing can found water dripping marks, also rubber foam for copper pipes in malaysia don't have in markets of brand Armaflex = good luck to you.

The reason R410A non-inverter not suitable for home used, at night too cold also facing like normal R22 model compressor runs on/off all the time = uncomfortable.
But good for industrial like office or home for living room only.

Meant non-inverter R410A can be more quicky temperature are reaching as your setting = energy saving.

Actually non-inverter compressor mounting run out within 1.5 yrs then outdoor created more vibration noise and heat can consider put your wet cloths leave over next day were dried out all.

So pay higher a bit = comfort & energy saving why not go for it.

Repair & service really depend on luck.
Don't tell me inverter repair need more expansive than R22 non-inverter model. laugh.gif

Planning to change my old aircon. Recommendation pls?

Master bedroom, 1.5hp, don't need inverter cause more exp, don't wanna change pipe etc.,

Normal or ionizer also ok. Got ionizer machine in room already...Found out normal 2 stars energy rating only, ionizer 3-4 stars. HOW MUCH do you actually save when using a 4 star compared to 2 stars if daily use 8 hours a day? So that i know worth paying the extra rm200 or so for the ionizer unit.

Price and place to buy recommendation would be good too. Thank you...

Research so far...
Pana - most common
Mitsubishi - slightly more exp than pana
Daikin - bad customer service/warranty
korean brands - not as good as jap

2 to 5 stars also compare from input watts, if 1hp input watt over 900w = energy drinker.

You can easily self calculate from single hose power unit.

8500 btu / input watt 800w = 10.62 EER

Legend : EER = Energy Efficient Rating
9 fair good
10 Good
11 Very good
12 to 14 excellent

If more than 11 EER can be save more 10% over than 10 EER.

So buy thing also do some homework for self calculating 1st and before paying money.

Does anyone have reliable and honest aircond repairman they can recommend? I need one to come take a look at mine.

I suspect my aircond is not draining the water properly cos the wall around it is slightly damp. Also, I can't switch it on, not sure if aircond problem or remote. The remote not showing anything when I press Switch On.

Appreciate any help and thanks.

If you want to use inverter you can use Daikin which doesn't require change of pipe. Inverter is much more comfortable for bedroom because temperature doesn't fluctuate as much as non inverter. In term of cost saving, there is a calculation in this thread back then, I also forgot already.

You mean no brainer to buy inverter? Or you really don't know how to use no brainer phrase?

Yes, I tested the aircond remote with batteries that worked in other remotes. The little screen is blank. But when I switched on the aircond main switch, I do hear a beeping sound from the aircond unit. i tried to look for the button in the aircond unit to see if I can manually switch it on to test but cannot find this button. I'm using LG aircond.

Actually the aircond has never been serviced since I bought it a few years ago. I hardly use it also, maybe on average about 20 days a year of usage. I do clean the filter about once a year.

No battery leak in remote control, still very clean inside. What kind of shop sells universal remote? Does any electrical appliance shop sells this?
