will it matter if theres something hard in the envelope? for example, a small tube of gel?

just have to make sure the corners of the tube doesnt cut the envelope... wrap it in tape or paper?

Hey guys,

Newbie in doing postage via Pos Malaysia.

I will appreciate if someone could answer my question biggrin.gif

My question is,

How much will it roughly cost to post a CD or two?
Do I provide my own box or it's provided along with pos malaysia?

If I am to post a bag, within pen.Malaysia with shipping weight of 5lbs or 2.4kgs with the dimension of 22" Height x 18" Width x 10" Depth, how much will the charges be?

I tried the webpage but I got no clues what's going on.lol
Enlighten me smile.gif

The question is to where? West or East Msia? London or USA? However, suggestions below are for postage within Malaysia.

How much will it roughly cost to post a CD or two?
Do I provide my own box or it's provided along with pos malaysia?

1. Cheapest, Simplest & Fastest buy Pos Ekspress envelope if the dimension & weight within below measurements
Source
1 353 mm x 250 mm x 10mm 500g RM4.50
2 229 mm x 162 mm x 5mm 250g RM3.50
3 220 mm x 110 mm x 3mm 100g RM3.00
4 340 mm x 250 mm x 25mm 1000g RM7.00 (Box)
5 250 mm x 210 mm x 25mm 750g RM6.00 (Box)

2. However you can opt for POSLAJU too. But you need to wrap the CD yourself in a box with brown or mahjong paper. Remember to wrap securely to avoid the CD breaks.
Refer to HERE and HERE on how to wrap properly.

Estimated cost,
Cost for below 500g, around RM6(included tax) (West - West/East - East), add around RM1.50 for every additional 250g.
Cost for below 500g, around RM8.50(included tax) (West - East/East - West), add around RM2.00 for every additional 250g.

You can check for more accurate details HERE, remember to plus taxes 10% fuel surcharge, 10% handling charges and 5% GST.

3. By Posdaftar, 5-10 days(within Malaysia) and 14-20 days(international) depending on location.
For Malaysia, First 20g, RM1.70. Additional weight would be added up more fee. For a single CD without box, might be costing you RM2.40-RM3.40 in total.

Three methods above come with tracking numbers.

If I am to post a bag, within pen.Malaysia with shipping weight of 5lbs or 2.4kgs with the dimension of 22" Height x 18" Width x 10" Depth, how much will the charges be?

4. Above 2kg, Posdaftar & Pos Ekpress are out, you can opt for Pos Laju or Parcel Post.

Faster Option,

Poslaju rate for big box.
55.88cm x 45.72cm x 25.4cm = 64893
64893/6000 = 10.8 kg (Volumetric Weight)
Since 10.8 kg is more than 2.4 kg, then they will use volumetric weight to charge you.

Check the rate HERE for 10.8 kg. Remember to add taxes 10% fuel surcharge, 10% handling charges and 5% GST.

5. Cheaper & Slower option (7-14 days within Malaysia)

Parcel Post (refer here for parcel basic & wrapping details)

Check the rate HERE.

If through Pos Malaysia,
EMS(poslaju) 2-5 days.

If through PosDaftar,
10-20 days.

If item expensive, please buy insurance and declare the correct item.

Maybe you can opt for Fedex or DHL too.

Depends... for small branch like in my place, they usually don't like to send to your house first before making sure that you are at home to receive it. They will call first. You can check with your nearest branch and ask them to hold the item first.

Yes, if no one at home, they will keep in the nearest branch for a limited time. If the package come with your contact number, usually they will contact you too.
