QUOTE(jiahuilee @ May 1 2007, 10:59 PM) Yeap. But u will have to sign a 24months contract with them with a minimum usage every month. For example, on a 29cap plan, you will have to pay a minimum of 20-29 a month. Well i think it malaysia is much cheaper. Because you are not tied down to 1 phone for 2 years. u aren't tied down to the phone but the plan. if u want to you can sell off your phone as long as you can unlock it , and get a new one. |

Anyone using Three in Brisbane? I'm thinking of getting the $29 cap plan (seriously, they have good phones), but I've had a mixed bag of reviews, some saying that Three has poor coverage (I'm currently using Optus), and that the phones are locked even after 2 years unless you pay $50 "unlocking fee". And is it true that Three's phones are CDMA instead of GSM? (Meaning I wouldnt be able to use it in Malaysia...) |

I think certain phones are locked for good, would depend on the software. Mine (6288) isn't though, just made a call requesting for the unlocking code and voila! My software is still three's, but I can now use it for other networks.
Ask the three dealer whether the phone is unlockable. Coverage problems, I have not encountered so far, in Melbourne though. Switched from optus when all my 20+ friends in uni are using 3 T_T. About that last sentence of yours, alas I've no idea. =P |

After the contract ends or you can simply call at any time. I've only been three's customer for say, 3 months? Unlocked 2 months ago.
I think those that are unlockable are the older phones. As again, ASK the three dealer if that particular phone you are choosing can be unlocked through them. Otherwise, you might be stuck with someone who knows how to unlock phones through flashing etc. |

Most phones can be unlocked. Even at the very following week you signed up with three.

There are some courses/majors in Monash Melbourne not offered in Monash Malaysia.
have you checked the courses for the Monash campuses in Melbourne or the one in Malaysia? There are like, 5 campuses in Melbourne. Diff campus offers diff courses. But if say, your degree is from campus A, you can take your classes in campus B though campus B doesn't offer that degree. Some common subjects are offered in other campuses as well.. This is useful for those who stays far from original campuses. Melbourne is very huge, so you might not wanna live in suburb areas. |

QUOTE(jasperng @ May 11 2007, 05:51 PM) hi there , im planning to take electrical and electronic engineering in australia this coming july intake. I would like to know which are the most recommended universities for the above course ? I can recommend UNSW, if you don't mind it being in Sydney. The reason I had to put it this way is because people here don't seem to enjoy studying in Sydney, but I really don't see the point of their arguments. Sydney is a great city to live in, very cosmopolitan, modern and vibrant. On top of that, UNSW is one of the leading engineering research schools in the country (it is primarily an engineering and technical university) and is very highly-regarded here, especially for technology-related programs, which includes Electrical Engineering, Computer Sciences and Telecommunication.thanks This post has been edited by chris_c28: May 15 2007, 07:59 PM |

On the contrary, I don't recall anyone stating Sydney is less preferable though, but I hear Canberra and Adelaide or Perth often being mentioned for obvious reasons.
But I'd support the notion of UNSW as a main choice if you're coming to Australia. |
