I heard that Sydney is racist if compared to Melbourne

I wouldnt say Sydney is racist if not it wouldn't be so multicultural. Its probably just a few bad apples that cause the trouble if not in general it is fine.

Off the top of my head: Clothes, laptop (or small portable PC), mobile phone, adaptor (different plugs), money (some cash and rest as bank draft), documentation (enrolment stuff, visa, OSHC, etc.), travel essentials (medications, toiletries, etc.).
It's best to open a bank account as soon as possible as I think there is a 10-point ID check beyond 7 days of arrival or something (last I remember), which is quite a hassle.
It's not worth it to bring in any foodstuffs (you can't bring in dairy products anyway), neither is it worth it to bring in a bucketload of toiletries to last you a year or so. Such things are pretty affordable there.

IMO, racism is more prevalent in Malaysia than it is in Australia, so you have nothing to worry about really.

I don't know the specifics because I've never gotten myself into such a situation. It differs from company to company. Basically they assign points when they can verify your personal details and credit history, etc, which means you'll need to show them some documentation. When you first arrive, your passport is the most important piece of document for verification, so they won't expect you to have any more ID with you (student card, driver's licence, etc.).

10 point or 100 point?

i remember that a ECOE, pasport and ID is the 100 point stuff...driving license i m not to sure..

ohya..thos going aussie land...recently i saw ocbc malaysia allow student to open ANZ acc at thr bank..so those who is going..try to grab this as an opportunity option..

No frigin way lol ... confirm no .. i juz did my working visa .. erm i also forget la .. asalkan if u wanna apply anything in australia ( bank account, age proff card, working visa ) u need 'points' it depends lor .. passport gives you 20 points or so .. uni offer letter also important .. keep it .. around 10 points ? Around there la .. asalkan to do any documentation .. you need at least 2 or 3 documents la .. i recommend you getting the 18age proof card ( now called photo card ) as well ... it's a good replacement for your passport so u dun hav to carry it all over the place ...IINM it gives the same ammount of points as your passport too .. i think 50bux for 5 years ... for the photo card .. go get it

oh and btw ANZ sucks lol ... limited ATM .. Commonwealth bank best la .. everywhere you can get ATM .. n best of all .. there is a branch in the uni's upper campus go get your account there .. got a lady (forgot her name) from malaysia Super frenly ... from ipoh 1 haha .. u go in straight can see 1 la .. 'malaysian face' lol .. she very 'jiu gu' all the malaysians 1 dun wry .. go find her haha

edit: whoops the bank part applies for sydney only ok and the msian lady is working in UNSW's commonwealth branch .. and for more information on the point system i think you can check www.rta.gov.au ... not sure about the website la .. google 'rta australia'

yea i agree...comm bank trumps ANZ....summore if wanna compare savings account....comm bank's netbank saver much better rate then ANZ.....commbank ultimate ATM la...even the post office can become ATM for commbank.....how much better can it get?? unless u wanna go NZ, fiji etc...i think there got more ANZ....

last time i go open account i use student id n passport only leh....kaotim...i know got point system....but i dunno how it owrks....check the website lor 2 make sure...commbank.com.au

n bout what 2 bring....bring more stuff like things to remind u bout family la....or gifts from frens....others all can buy over here.....even ur biskut cap pingpong can buy here...dun bring food la....coz they customs usually dun let most things in....toiletry all bring juz enuff till u get settled lor....coz those stuff over here not that exp.....quite okay...
