that is what i and a few other here, have been trying to caution prospective students about trying to rank unis.............the actual rank depends on the set of criteria used in the calculations...........if a different set of criteria is used, ranking then becomes different..........
you do not necessary get a "worse" quality of education.........it depends on the course, some of them may be better in adelaide than melbourne..........
the difference in the "quality" is minimal, that is my point in my earlier post, about how a well managed education system will minimise the difference between schools, and unis.........so while adelaide may be ranked lower, you will still receive a good quality all round
in the job market, there is minimal impact, where you graduate from, in the oz workforce, they are not so snobbish as regards this, unlike asians.........may make a slight difference getting an interview, or a job, but after that, it is purely your work performance that will determine you further job prospects...........don't believe me, go ask people who have graduated and working for a few years there............
i will not make decisions purely based on the perceived "quality" or quoted rankings, other factors like cost, friends/relatives, weather, accessibility (flight frequency etc), and maybe a place to settle later............
