Hello.. its my mum's car.. i'm only drive a mere kancil.. as for CX-5 experience driving for long distance with full luggage at the back and 3 adult (with 2 year old kid and 1 year old baby), its favorable to driver only.. the ride quite bumpy for rear passenger, but for its handling and gbx respond is really good..
i use manual mode went uphill karak, downhill also manual mode, seriously its not like SUV handling anymore.. more like sedan (even better then my wife vios s), the FC when engaging manual mode can be higher too..
Another thing, rear reflector at bumper seem to dislocated.. somehow i manage to fix it my self, just push back from inside to outside direction..
the foglamp not helping much for night and raining time.. maybe need to use yellow bulb?
Now front tyre is left around 40-50%, my mum asked me what choice of tyre she have, she want michelin as last time she always use it and its quite good tyre, so i search its around rm1k for 225/65/17 size.. quite expensive for michelin, but other brand around rm450-600..

gearbox responsive? jumps too much and a little slow when engaging....except if you use Manual Mode. it's an OK drive, but not great.

Any problems with this car? Consider to get one as weekend car. Currently comparing this to the New Nissan Xtrail. So far all I heard was good fc , even on par with vios.

Hi guys, I will be getting my new CX-5 2.0 High spec soon (hopefully by end of next week). Been going through a list of things I should do once I get it (its my first new car). Currently, there are 2 things I believe I need to sort out;

1) New tyres - read a couple of threads in here that suggests for new tyres instead of using the original tyres, helps to reduce/eliminate the sound.

2) Enhancing security - any advice of security gadget/equipment/system I should install in my vehicle?.

Appreciate if you guys could assist/advice me further. Thanks.

Just keen to know what sort or brand leather conditioner/cleaner is best to be used to protect and clean the leather seats of a CX5. Appreciate if someone in here could share their experience/opinion on this. Thanks.

2.5 FL CBU...

iStop reminds me of my friends driving in Switzerland, she turn-off engine at traffic lights.

The engine restarts faster on the Mazda, and the lack of engine vibration is kinda disconcerting at first shocking.gif

edit: Found this http://www.myswissalps.com/car/trafficregulations

You're advised to turn off the engine when you need to wait for traffic lights, railroad crossings, etc. Sometimes this is obligatory;

i just did my first 1k service too but i just stick back to semi syn engine oil. was told that if we use fully syn, we would have to monitor n top up the engine oil every now and then.. too much hassle for me.

i do know some forumers dont mind using the stock semi syn engine oil and subsequently change it elsewhere just to keep the warranty intact.

Well of course it is not necessary, opinions may vary, read alot about users commenting not much difference in terms of power and FC while some users comment it did provide better power and FC. hmm.gif

Difference between semi and fully synthetic should be viewed in the long term.

How well the oil protects the engine, doubt there is immediate difference switching from one type of lubricant to another.

Experience servicing Kembara when it was new I noticed semi-synthetic oils breakdown and become black faster. After about a year I changed to synthetic and subsequent oil changes are a lighter brown color compared to semi-synthetic.

Driving the Kembara for 10 years liao tongue.gif never had engine breakdown.

Agreed just use whatever works... or if got cash to spare then use fully synthetic.

First 1k KM oil change is due next week sweat.gif

I'm buying a new CX5 2.5L and what I'm worried is the tyre size. 225/55R19. Seems like not many shops have this tyre size. And the price is damn expensive.

Anyone has already the problem on getting the tyre?

they don't keep this tyre at shop but you can book and ask the price. When they have the right tyres for you they will call you back. smile.gif

its not a problem anyway. The only problem is the 'price' biggrin.gif

Question anyone coated their CX-5 with CeramicPro, thinking of getting my car coated.

How durable is it?

http://ceramicpro.com.my/

My mom got her mazda 2 coated by ceramic pro. Went for the silver package. Honestly I dont think its worth it after applying it for almost 6 months, as I feel that the oleophobic coating feeling that it had right after it was applied, is now gone, meaning the coating has already wore off after half a year.

Even if you paid for 5/7/9 layers coating putting aside the price consideration, they can cut corners in the material they use and you as an average consumer wont even know biggrin.gif

My experience was I found out that some parts of leather and the fabric was uncoated and I had to complain and get it done.

Thanks for information, hope you don't mind to share information so others may benefit from your mum's experience.

What's the beading effect like now, maybe spray some water and take picture as it beads off...?

Also the cleaning regiment, is the car washed regularly etc.

Thanks for sharing and I appreciate your feedback icon_rolleyes.gif

The car isnt parked under hot sun VERY often, as at home and at office during office hours it is parked under shaded area.

It is cleaned by wiping with light car shampoo/sometimes without, once every weekly or maximum biweekly. While if its not cleaned after a week interval, it attracts dust and dirt as usual.

The coating on windscreen however does a fantastic job during raining season like now, however I believe it can be DIY easily by purchasing hydrophobic solution for windscreen.

Of course by forking out more for gold/platinum package you get thicker coating and glossier surface, I personally feel that you'd be better off by considering alternatives. Ceramicpro has come this far today because of its great association with mazda (be it mazda 2,3,6 or CX5) facebook group and partly its successful branding.

I am sorry for this not-so-satisfactory review as we had a bad experience with ceramicpro. Maintenance wise, we were told to DIY and were given a bottle of ceramicpro SPORT solution. Once the solution is used up you have to purchase it at RM199 a bottle (this price was unofficial as of 5 months ago and was told by Ben)

Water beading picture will be uploaded tomorrow

hi all proud cx-5 owners. im considering of buying cx-5.

Just wondering why they didnt provide centralized door lock to the car? The
PJ branch SA said it is because of the NCAP requirement, however when i check at NCAP website, there are no statement saying about centralized locking as one of their requirement.

im considering cx-5 or honda hr-v.. based on price, hr-v is 10k cheaper, but spec wise i think cx-5 is better. maybe any proud owner of cx-5 can enlighten me with which car should i choose.

thanks in advance to all..

Let's start with some basics

2.5 CKD vs 2.5 CBU FL

1. Pre-Facelift design vs Facelift Design
2. 150k OTR vs 172k OTR
3. No Sunroof vs Got Sunroof
4. Local assembled vs Build in Japan
5. Same technical & performance

2.5CKD = Limited stock (400 units only)
2.5CBU = No more stock, except current available limited stock and for outstanding bookings.

2.5CBU FL = Last batch will be delivered in Oct 2015. Next batch maybe coming in April 2016 OR replace by CKD version.

Hello, I am interested to get this 2.5 CKD version, i think is value money deal.
Do you have any idea on fuel consumption versus 2.0 version, for sure it will be more, just wonder is it significant a lot?
400 units only?
Wonder when you guys buy from SC, did you get any discount? I check at SC at Penang, they say no discount, just give me 3 years free service.

Thanks

Standard that goes with this car is

I do found one named MCCM (Mazda CX-5 Club Malaysia) but their facebook was closed the forum site is like deactivated for long, some latest information like youtube videos were posted from 2013 which can be consider as outdated for long too.. wonder anyone here know what is going on ?

I'm very happy & interest to setup another new one and build up a community so we can have a platform to share more about CX-5 ! As I do sees a lot of CX-5 on the road but just wondering how much we don't have a club that gather all of us !

Anyone with me ? wink.gif

What would be your budget range ??

3M, Raytech, Vkool are good tints, and comes in many price range from reasonable to premium level.

For 2k +/-

You can opt for Raytech FX series or pay a bit more for the MX series.

3M , perhaps can go for Crystalline (Front) + House brand for other sides.

As for me personally, I've been using Raytech for the past 2-3 years, and now all my family members are using Raytech (various series) and happy with them.

Personally dislike the Smart Tag issue with 3M

recently the CX-5 aircon not cold enough, but only for driver side..
after check with SC, there's some leakage on aircon piping which need to them to inspect for another 3 days, after confirmation about warranty n all its about.. they (Mazda SC) will replace it for free.. so for the meanwhile in order the availability of the parts, i need to wait another for 4-5 days.

We will advise to remove the current skytint and install a new one.

Reasons, too thick, will cause your power window motor to damage over time.

CX5 2.5 CBU facelift owners: what's your fuel consumption so far? Mine has settled at 10.0L/100km after 1000km. According to the car info display. Far from the advertised 7.8-8.7 L/100km. Mine is balanced city & highway driving.

The quoted figures are probably under testing or ideal conditions. Mine is showing 11.0L/100kms in mixed KL driving.

Looks normal then. Screenshot shows the FC after a return trip to KL city centre. something like 80% hwy, moderate jam in city. Today observed again after a return trip to PJ with minimal jam, FC for that trip alone was 7.4L/100km.

@bimmer , what engine oil r u using , semi or fully syn? Petrol ron95 or 97?

Thanks @bimmer

Actually when my car first got delivered it really was stuck at 10.x L/100km no matter what driving conditions. Since the 1st service which I requested fully syn oil to be used, it seems to have settled closer to 8.5 L/100km. Makes me wonder if they purposely used semi syn when the car is being delivered. Or maybe no relation at all...

Anyone can recommend a good forum / FB group dedicated to CX5 issues?

Does anyone knows any paint touch up for meteor gray? My wife's car paint got damage by stone chips and quite deep can almost see the metal already. I hope don't have to spray the whole bonnet just for the few dots.. Disappointed that the paint is so thin..

I've PM'ed you.

Do note, the best deal sometimes doesn't mean the best discount. And the best discount doesn't mean you get proper Pre-Sales & After-Sales Service.

For Mazda, we have a 4S Centre !!! Apart from Showroom, we have a Service Centre, Parts Centre, and Collision Repair Centre which can do Accident & Windscreen Claim ( same as Body & Paint Centre ). Rest assured your ownership of a Mazda will be well taken care of !!

Hi guys,

I've got my CX-5 2.0 CKD High Spec for 2 weeks now, but I've been having 2 very disappointing problems, both noise related.

1) A rattling/vibrating noise when transmission is in R or D and fully press brake (so car is stopped). This usually happens early in the morning when the engine is cold.

2) A buzzing noise (sound like eeeee) that is audible between 20 - 50 kmh.

Anyone have this issue? Both don't happen 100% of the time so when I took to Service center, the technician couldn't do anything.

If anyone has similar issue, please share.

Please do share the retrofit.

I find that it doesn't downshift with a little tap on the accelerator, and when it does it downshifts a few seconds and then upshifts again.
I prefer to have the gear downshift and hold instead of me having to step on the accelerator more to hold it when it downshifts ...

Hope i'm making sense ... smile.gif

Remap tuning Stage2 + K&N drop in filter.
Higher torque at early rpm.Very noticeable. No more throttle empty feeling. If u are a CX5 owner u would understand what im talking about.haha
Ignition timing optimization to suit Msia ron95 or ron97 fueling.Fueling and cam phasing. Acceleration improves especially from mid 100kmh above, good for overtaking.

I don't have the first issue but have the second issue, i had the same buzzing sound with my previous car and the fix was to pump a different brand of petrol.

Not sure if this will work with CX-5.

I too have a whistling sound when accelerating on my 2 week old CX5 2.0!! initially thought it was a vacuum leak but it does not have that sound when accelerating in idle.

Your service centre offers fully synthetic motor oil? I know most sc offers semi synthetic but I prefer fully synthetic. Let me know if it is available and how much to top up.

Thanks

Sorry bro, I went to SC last week - but they couldn't hear it. Funny thing is, the volume and frequency dropped quite a bit ever since I made a trip between Penang and Ipoh. All the best to you.

Is this unit the 2.0 CKD or 2.5 CBU from Japan? If you have opened up the door panel of both 2.0 CKD and 2.5 CBU, is there any difference in terms of soundproofing material between the CKD 2.0 and CBU 2.5?

Thinking of buying CX5 in the next few months. Can somebody advice when the 2016 model for 2.0 high spec CKD will be coming out? Any price difference? Any different with 2015 at all?
*
most likely it will come out in 1st half of 2016..i reckon Mazda Malaysia will want to refresh their CX-5 lineup to stay fresh for this year.

Price not sure, have to monitor closely how our ringgit performs and also the Yen currency because if i not mistaken Mazda Malaysia buys in Yen.

My in law also complaint about my CX5 back seat uncomfortable. I sit in the CX3 back seat, I feel fine. I seldom travel long distance also.

What're you've seen in the CBU 2.5L , you will see in the 2.0L CKD & 2.5L CKD Facelift with the EXCEPTION of

1. Sunroof
2. BOSE system
3. Others not confirmed

The exterior will be the same as the CBU version. You'll get the commander control, MZD and a new interior dashboard design (to suit the MZD & commander control).

Price wise can't confirmed, but in the range of

2.0L GL - 137k +/-
2.0L HS - 152k +/-
2.5L 2WD - 165k +/-
2.5L 4WD - 175k +/-

Colors are supposedly same CKD colors as Mazda3 which are
1. Arctic White
2. Meteor Grey
3. Aluminium Metallic
4. Blue Reflex

Only the Hi spec one, others is optional package.

It's more of a security tint than anything else. The specs are given by Mazda, which looks decent but many just opt for external ones which they claim is better.

Guys,

Am considering to sell my 2010 FL Camry for the CX-5 FL 2016, the low spec version.
Test drove it the other day, and felt a bit unresponsive.
Anybody with the same scenario? Ride comfort is good. Impressed with the i-stop.

Agreed with you being "bit unresponsive" due to ; Torque converter slippage delays acceleration response to driver’s input.

It happen on our Sky-active engine

Did you try the Sport Mode button ? Many customers who test drove it on that mode says the response & pick up is much better.

Everyone's opinion is different on what is enough power.

Better to use waze instead of the car's GPS.

my personal observation, most of the CX-5 drivers are female in KL... may be the design is suitable for women.

19" Rims + BOSE speakers

Other than that, its same as PRE-FL design interior & exterior.

The key is the price at 149k OTR with insurance for a 2.5L and its year of make 2016 !!! Limited 20-30 units whole Malaysia.

Hi, im new owner of cx5 2.0 ckd new facelift 2016.

Likes
Exterior and interior design.
New DRL design look very stylish.
Sport mode really responsive thumbup.gif
Large boot space.

Wind sound coming in from both front passenger side windows. Could it be after installing window visors? (free gift from salesperson)
I have complained to service centre in puchong but they said they can not do anything to repair it. sad.gif
Salesperson said all cx5 and m3 have poor sound proof, is it true? bangwall.gif
Anyone can help? rclxub.gif

Still learning to understand istop function, it seems that istop light will not turn on if i set aircond temp to 18c. dry.gif
I set to 22-23c and istop light appear more frequently. dry.gif

yes, wind noise is common, with door visor, depending on the design, some would make it even more obvious..

getting the rubber seal done shud help in ur case

some other obvious noise would be the roof top when it rains

and also the loud tire noise especially for the rear passenger ( getting the boot sp ) done will help ease the pain smile.gif

basically ntg much sc can do for u wink.gif

Your wife don't know how to handle skyactiv engine only, I also come from vios previously and I have to agree that vios is more responsive at low rpm

The skyactiv engine has the power but it is tuned for fuel savings, the transmission shift to 6th gear at around 60km/h depends on road and driving condition, in order to get the full power you need to keep the RPM at 3k at least, while 4k you will have full torque for you to smoke any vios on the road brows.gif

Guy,

Any chance to get the Soul Red Metallic or Jet Black Mica in Malaysia market??

Saw a article from <link removed> saying that CKD Mazda Soul Red might be an option in the future....

SC is the best to get the first quote, so you can actually compare. Cause all SC part price are standardized, easier for you to take it and shop around with OEM

hello guys ... just received my 2.0 GLS FL last week Thursday ... and now am a happy cx5 owner ... biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Honestly im quite skeptics with the 2.0 power delivery ... but to my surprise .. it is pretty much okay for the car of this size with 2.0 engine....

overall .. i love the handling .. interior (definitely) and the driving experience .. especially the commander knob control ... smile.gif smile.gif

I try to done my own scoring between CX5 and Forester, I use 1 to 3 points as the comparison.

Attached Image

No deny that Forester is 1 of the best safety SUV and CX5 also quite top ranking around the world. I would say CX5 win in majority of car review website due to the overall ranking from in to out, of cause include safety plus boot space. Forester loss due to it focus more on safety, offroad etc but lack on FC, outlook, fast handling (paultan review show Forester best comfort handling but lack of fast response compare to Subbie siblings as well as Mazda).... again I feel both are best car but just which 1 u give and take, no doubt if focus 100% safety plus offroad (fast cornering especially wet surface), more comfort back seat then Forester while prefer city, overall "pao ka liao" (Hokkien) plus safety (Mazda safety quite high ranking as well n appear as only slightly lower ptr to Forester in Youtube Jpn expert review)...

http://www.caranddriver.com/flipbook/pract...orst-to-best#32

http://www.edmunds.com/suv/buying-guide/

http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-...e-Compact-SUVs/

http://2016.guideautoweb.com/best-buys-trucks.html#c08

Car is extremely expensive in Msia, hence mostly Msian a bit kia su and choose overall apa pun ada car since spend almost 150k d....

I feel both r as good as each others... let just forget about RV, FC etc and final decision still depend on r u focus inner beauty or overall sikit inner sikit outter beauty hahah.....

Forester 2.0i-P win over Safety and Interior while CX5 2.5L take over Engine, Exterior and Value.
Prior to test drive CX5 2.5L, I mark the Forester as the 1st choice when compare to CX5 2.0L.

In term of CKD quality, I feel both quite solid. As for rattling, both CX5 2.5L and Forester 2.0i-P Test Drive units did showed some minor/soft "ngek ngek" from boot area while I did found a bit plastic sound from CX5 2.0L dashboard. Due to CX5 2.5L w/ bigger CC, accelerate engine sound seem to be not obvious but if compare 2.0L then Forester sound better due to CX5 2.0L w/ quite loud engine rev when step hard on pedal for more "juice".

Personally, I feel CX5 2.5L win as overall in and out plus value for 2.5L but if focus for inner beauty or safety then Forester. CX5 2.5L only win 1 ptr compare to Forester 2.0i-P which I believe that 1 ptr from higher CC engine as well as value for money.

I believe we are not extreme driver that need to speed every time during heavy rain @ highway..... of cause at time we might do that and Forester will buy you 200% insurances with the top ranking AWD hahah... if you are driving 2WD then jaga sikit loh and dont push it too much hahahah.....

Again those scoring mainly my own preference but might different from others.

RV leh.... both also not match w/ our famous T and H brand hahaha!!
If really compare both then M will be much better then S due to high demand on CX5 in the market....but again if really look for RV then better away from this 2 brands hahah!!

Based on our Malaysia car sale website:
- 2014 CX5 ~100k Vs ~140k purchase price mean ~40k loss for ~3 years or ~13k per year.....
- 2014 XV ~80k Vs ~130k purchase price mean ~50k loss for ~3 years or ~16k per year.....

When I ask for 2.5L, so far the best rebate I get from Pg Mazda branch is 1.5k+830 (Roadtax)+1k or total 3330 then add 55% NCB. If KL dealer the might have more rebate....

here so far the best rebate is rm2k only. one sa advice get 2.0 basic unit then add leather seat & front sensor.
132k - 2k rebate + 2.7 leather + 0.6 front sensor - 2k (agak2 55% ncb) = rm132k

Is in the spec for FL model, I think should be 1st press open driver door then 2nd press open all door but I didnt try this during test drive ahha might need to ask SA or any user here in our forum.

Did you check the tyre pressure and make sure it is inflated to the guideline level?

Any chance to get the Soul Red Metallic or Jet Black Mica in Malaysia market??

Saw a article from <link removed> saying that CKD Mazda Soul Red might be an option in the future....

Will there be a Soul Red anytime soon?

For me yes as I duwan spend so much money >130k but just bcoz ~10k different n regret later due to not getting the GLS full spec or just add on acc only but not default on it. smile.gif

Hahaha.. better then normal tint.. and its FREE.. so why not.. but if you always travel and park under hot sun..

Just upgrade the front and back for heat rejection. Sky tint itself is safety film.. so don't really have to spend extra on that 4 pieces. just my 2 cents

Hi everyone. Wanna share my experience with this car.

Recently bought it about a month old now.

Model 2.0 Facelift GL Spec.
Blue Reflex Colour.

Normally if driven for daily usage in town I will get around 9.5km/l.

Yesterday I travelled to Melaka from JB with speed cautious in mind around 100~120 km/hrs I managed to clocked about 330km.

So basically for long distance CX5 really do save fuel.

:-)

i've been reading about CX-5 in here quite a bit, and found out that the battery is quite pricey due to the usage nature of the Skyactive technology
is this still a thing? as the one i read forumer posted in this forum was from last year
if yes, how much does it cost for battery replacement?
and how frequent we generally need to replace the battery?

To be specific... the i-stop tech needs a deep cycle battery...... hence more expensive...

However last year's model, (probably still available in some showrooms) without i-stop tech can utilise normal lead-acid batteries...

thank you for the responses, appreciate them
generally, how often do we need to change the battery? yearly, every 2 year etc?
the one I read in other thread (for the life of me I could not find it now) said yearly replacement, and costs around RM1200 ++

am considering this seriously now, test-drived it a couple of weeks back and sangat syiokk
so want to know as much as possible about the pros and cons before making a decision

Test drove the 2.5 facelift yesterday, from standstill full gas, it feels like I'm taking off laugh.gif maybe cause I come from 1.5.

I take the little things quite seriously and the facelift doesn't have the lock/unlock button and no more wood-trim look at the dashboard. Somehow no one talks about this laugh.gif maybe I'm too particular

Unless you own both cars ... you cannot really make a valid comparison... but generally 2.5 will use (slightly) more fuel, though one benefit of 2.5L 2WD.... low end torque, max at 3k rpm.

Yup, quite small tank .. 56L like almost same as Altis (55L)...
My Altis 2.0V can hit ~480-520km+ for ~43-44L (Low Fuel Indicator Blink till full)...

If CX5 2.5L can hit ~500km w/ the same amount of 4xL then consider king of 2.5L d hahah
