The thigh support is a bit short although the base can be tilted up or down, if that is of any help.

If you want easier maintenance, the general concencus at CX-5 FB or whatsapp groups tend to be sonic silver. The colour tends to hide the swirl marks, stone chips, light scratches and dirts better than the other colours.
Those driving the Soul Crystal Red also complaint that their paint layer are quite thin and prone to stone chips and visually is very obvious.
But I do agree with the reply above that you should go for the colour that makes you happy and you like the most.
I went for DC Blue as it has the same crystal effect like the premium colour but without the premium price.
Plus the SC Red also tends to look a bit maroonish under different lighting conditions, and me and the missus agreed that the colour tint is a bit girlish although it is their signature colour.
Both me and the missus prefer to get cars in their signature/brochure colours, as previously we bought the Lancer GT in their red signature colour and the Kia Sportage GT in the orange colour, but not for this CX-5.

1. I think 19" Nexen or stock Toyo can be had for Rm 6xx-7xx/piece.
2. Depends where is your kampung If east coast, jialat liao! Have to prepare you travel and know the locations of the fuel pump with Euro5 well in advanced

Mine is 2.2D, but some functions are available on 2.0GLS too, so here's my answer.


hello, got some questions regarding the new cx-5 2.0 GLS. hope current owners here can help to clarify.

1. does the 2.0 GLS variant come with GPS map navigation? saw on youtube review that it comes with a compass only but on some brochure it states that GLS comes with GPS navigation included.
- I believed only the GL is without GPS map navigation. For the navigation, you can enable your handphone hot spot and let the MZD connect to your handphone wifi for it to receive real time traffic update. But the real time traffic still can't beat Waze.

2. is it correct that the cx5 does not have a central door lock/unlock button/toggle in the car for driver to press to lock or unlock the doors. if that is the case, if i want to central lock all the doors after someone has exited the back door, can be done if i drive off (auto lock) or unlock driver door and re-lock it?
- Not true. The driver central lock button will lock/unlock all the doors but it is manually operated, i.e. it wont autolock if you drive off above certain km/h like some cars that I know

3. regarding the blind spot alert system. does it work only when turn indicator is activated or when car detect steering is turning or every time bike or car pass by will have alert?
- When turn indicator is activated, it will also give warning signal if there is vehicle in your blind spot. If turn signal is not activated, the BSM signal on your side mirrors will light up but without any warning signal if there is vehicle overtake your car from the blinsdpot

4. does the car have auto side mirror folding/unfolding when locking/unlocking the car?
- No. It has a manual fold/unfold button on the driver's side. I had mine retrofitted with after-market module at Jack Lieus' place in Taman Equinne for RM145

5. does the car have follow me home lights after turning off the engine or after unlocking the car?
- Yes. Can be enabled on 2.2D, so I presumed the same for 2.0 GLS

6. is there a boot release/unlock button on the car key remote?
- No. But there is a manual button to unlock the boot near the rear plate. It will unlock the boot but all the door will remain locked. There is also another button near the rear plate that will lock all the doors and boot

7. for the current 3 years free service, it includes all parts, lub and labor?
-Yes

8. service interval is every 10k/6 months?
Yes. Which ever comes first

Last I checked Sideq Salleh from SS Engineering provide the option for RM400.
But he told me not worth it for iPhone users.

Jack Lieu is selling the Android module for Rm2k

For the latest MZD FW, they already disabled the USB update, hence need to open the dashboard and tap the infotainment with serial cable and run the FW update from laptop to enable the AA.
I'm waiting for Mazda to release the official AA and CarPlay, so I just wait and see.

For the autolock or to disable the iStop, I believed his charges is about Rm100-150

Didn't know that it comes with speed-triggered auto-lock as I make it a habit to manually lock the car when everybody is in.
Did the SA tell you at what speed it will trigger the auto-lock?
On my previous Sportage GT, it will autolock when the speed is about 15-20km/h.

Better stick to EFB battery, unless you get someone to permanently disabled the iStop in the FW.
I was told that if you forget to turn-off the iStop feature when using non-EFB battery, the non-EFB battery doesn't have enough juice to support the iStop and might cause some issues to the iStop and some other functions.

If you on a budget, change the windscreen tint first.

The security tint for side windows are still decent, but not dark enough.
On my ride, I change the front windscreen is to 70% VLT, and the rest to .30% VLT. Only the rear windscreen is dual layers with the ori Skytint and the new tint above it as it can be quite risky to remove the ori tint due to the rear windscreen demister

The SA said it's directive from HQ.
It is optional compulsory

Maybe you can add one more item, i.e. the driving pattern.
Could be:
1. Highway Drive
2. Mixed Drive
3. Urban Drive

Steering lock is cumbersome. I have one inside my car but rarely use it. It is the famous Stoplock model that I have since more than 15 years ago.
I’m using pedal lock as it is very easy to use.
I had mine install at Jack’s place for Rm300, brand is Redbat.
You can also install other brands such as Locktach or Defendet at Shorty5 place in Klang. Should be around Rm3xx too

I remove the Skytint after had the car for about a week or so.
The front windscreen tint really cannot make it.
At first want to keep the side and tint and use magnetic shade, but the missus said better change for the whole car.

So far the 2 months that I have Redbat installed in my CX-5, no issue yet.
Build quality wise, I can say should be on par with Locktact as I used to have Locktact installed in my Lancer GT back in 2008.
Redbat in Made in Malaysia while Locktact is from Thailand

One minor niggle is that it retracts with a loud thump when you unlock it.
I can't remember if Locktact also behave like this.

You can PM Sidek Salleh in FB CX-5 to permamnently disable iStop in the MZD Firmware. Should be around Rm150
As for autofold mirror, you can visit Jack's shop at Tmn Equinne to install the module. Cost me RM145 3 mths back

It's done via the FW, so you can ask him to revert to the stock FW if you want to claim warranty.

Hard to answer on all these void warranty issues as Bermaz can always play hard ball and find fault with the customers if they don't want to honour the warranty.
So do at your own risk or wait after the warranty expired in 5 yrs time
