For power boots, Jack bring in 2 versions.
The cheapest one is about 2k, while the more expensive one is around 3k, with kick censor another Rm200-300

You guys should join the CX-5 FB group as Jack posts quite a few videos on the products that he brings in.
Btw, there are 2 CX-5 Malaysia FB groups, and Jack is only active in one.

how much jack charges to enable firmware update via USB port?
*
AFAIK, Jack doesn't provide such service.
I know Sideq Salleh provides such service for RM400.
He can do it in JB or his staff can do it in Tesco Kepong MSCP.

400 is quite expensive sweat.gif I'll wait for Mazda to officially bring in support for Android Auto. Hopefully it's soon...
*
Indeed it is expensive, but I was told it is time consuming as they have to open the dashboard to connect the serial cable to the MZD motherboard before the can flash the FW using a laptop.
If you have the know how, can buy the serial cable and download the hack FW from Mazda forum and DIY.

Sideq told me it's not worth for iPhone users so I'll wait for the official Mazda released AA/ACP in the near future

The problem with the stock 19” tyres is the 225 width, due to the 7J rims.
Other than the stock Toyo, I believed Nexen also has 225, which is about Rm7xx/pc
If Mazda uses 8 or 8.5J rims, will be much easier to find the compatible tyres

I think i had saw nexen with similar profile. Cn get around 600-700 around klang. If micheline 1k +

Noob question here. Toyo better than nexen? Seldom come across toyo. And how much the stock tyre would be?
*
If talking about brand name only, without comparing particular model, Toyo is more premium.
Should be up there with the like of Bridgestone, Goodyear, etc.
Nexen should be similar or 1 runk lower than Hankook.

Wouldn't it be too dark to add 2 layers? Can pass JPJ? hmm.gif

What's the maximum thickness we can have at front screen? Possible to add another 4 to 6 mm?
*
Notmally tint installers will not recommend you to install security film for your front windscreen at it is already anti-scattered glass.
Removing the stock front Skytint with high quality front windscreen tint from the like of VKool, 3M, etc should cost you ard Rm1k.
The side security tint are still decent

Oh, how about solar tint film? It shouldn't be that thick right? Planning to add on 3M Crystalline 70 on top of the sky tint but not sure if it'll be too thick or VLT too over.
*
Some installers will only warranty their solar tint if it is install direct to the windscreen and not on top of other tint. Check with the installers first on how their warranty works
If I were you, I remove the Skytint and do fresh installation

Do you know if installer will charge extra for removing the skytint?
*
I know some do, from Rm80 up to Rm200.
Some might forego the charges if you opt for their top of the line specs, some might even do it for free so you have to do your homework

Congrats.. Got my 2.2d today too.. Immediately took it on the highway..interstate.. Power delivery is so smooth up and down the roads.
IKR.. Already complained about it to my SA... Don't know where else to complain to get a redo with much better specs or refund..  sweat.gif
Yeah.. At minimum, must change or topup the front windscreen tint. Felt like there was no tinting at all.. Rubbish Bermaz. A pal of mine pointed out not to add another layer as it may cause lighting issues.. Better to remove and replace. Also, my door sil plates aren't lighting up.. They should have blue LEDs right? So much for standard accessories.
1. Yes, unless you want something else not included in the normal scheduled servicing...and or wear and tear parts.
2. There's a survey link floating around this thread.. Search for it.. You can see the results from members contributions.
3. Sound system is decent enough for me.. But need more testing cuz only listened to radio.. I expect it to sound better playing CDs or audio via AUX cable.
*
Congrats on your new ride mate!
The torque delivery is addictive right? Lol!

Door sil plates will only light up if you switch on the interior cabin or if you switch it to door open mode. If you switch off the interior cabin, it won’t light up.
If still not working, send back to SC

Guys, i just wandering about the 2 layer tint, will affect the smart breaking system? Or Touch N Go cannot detect inside car? Also i heard 2 layer is not approved by Abg J. Just curious hehe
*
As per above reply, should not be an issue for SCBS as the sensors are inside the housing near the rear view mirror.
For Smart Tag, can be hit and miss as the type of solar tint can play a big role especially if using those metallic-based type, instead of nano ceramic

Hi Syafeerul, May I know how do you test on those 3 items?

1. Vary speed
  - (Not sure about this..)

2. Auto-cruise control
  - Test whether it is working or not...?

3. Dont race the engine
  - Do not stump the pedal and race during 1st 1k km?
*
I believed the above are some tips on how to "break-in" the engine

1. Vary your driving speed, i.e. don't stick to single speed when driving
2. Check if the auto-cruise control is working, but don't use the auto-cruise as you need to vary the driving speed
3. Some car makers suggested to keep the RPM below certain level during the breaking-in period. Below 3k should be fine

those that got your car recently, what was the reading on the odometer?

i rmb years back when i got my honda, the reading was just 6km. SA said honda transport their cars on trailers only. not sure whether mazda does the same or not.

last few weeks when to test drive, saw SA used a newly unregistered 2.2D for test drive  hmm.gif probably because dont have 2.2D demo car
*
Mine shown 9km when my SA collected the car from the Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) Padang Jawa.
I was told that Bermaz send the car by trailers from Kulim to the respective PDI branches before they send it to the nearby branches.
If there are more than 3 cars to be delivered from the PDI to any particular branch, they will send it by trailers too.

But if you or the SA are in a hurry and can't wait until at least 3 cars to be sent to a particular branch, he has to drive the car from the PDI to the branch, hence clocking the extra KM on the odometer

Hmm I don't like how the brake feels. I can feel the strong return feedback after I release and there's this "thud" sound. Gonna ask them to do something on my first 1k service.
*
This is my 1st car with EPB, the "thud" sound and the strong feedback are really bummer.
Sometimes the car seems to reverse a few cm when I engaged the EPB, but so far luckily never reverse into anything yet.

I just did my 10k servicing at Bermaz Glenmarie yesterday and forgot to ask the SA to check the EPB doh.gif

guys, which show room that you test drive CX5?  mind to share? I went to Melaka show room but they mentioned no test drive available, just booking if you want it.....
Already over booked..
CX5 really so good to place down payment without test drive??
*
I believed HQ Glenmarie should have the test drive units.
Normally they have the 2.0 GLS, 2.5 and 2.2 AWD test drive units available and the SAs will inform the customers if the test drive units are loaned to other branch.

Previously those smaller branches only have the 2.0 GLS test drive unit while the bigger branches also have the bigger capacity test drive units

is there a reason max thickness cannot be more than 6mil? too thick for side windows motor to work smoothly? how about for windscreen?
*
Windscreen should stick to normal solar tint, and not security tint, so should be 1.5 to 2 mil.
For security tint, nowadays manufacturers specs are between 4 to 6 mil. There are still some offering 7 or 8 mil, but very rare already.

For Minolta Skytint security tint, the specs is 4 mil, so if you want to make it darker just stick normal solar tint on top of it

Hi all, I am a newbie here and also a soon to be owner of the CX-5.

This topic may have been brought up before but I would like to know your thoughts on the torque of the 2.2D on the FWD vs AWD. I have seen a video clip on youtube by a local established car reviewer on the 2.2D FWD and his thoughts was that it causes wheelspins and torque steer, as power is now channeled onto the FWD drivetrain. Although widely noticeable when he tested the car, he also advised user to consider the AWD.

Personally i have not tested the 2.2 FWD but instead tested the 2.2 AWD and the drivetrain on acceleration is seamless. I was also told that AWD production has been postponed to later part of the year, SST would kick in by then. What was offered was the 2.2FWD for sale which there isn't a demo car available, not in my local SC at least, have called up a few but only AWD available for testing.

The lingering question is for those that are owning the 2.2FWD, are you noticing this wheelspin and torque steer? Do these problems bother you on your daily drive?

I'm quite fixed on the 2.2FWD (not much choice left vs the AWD at much later production). Thoughts?

Thanks.
*
In my 4 months of ownership of the 2.2D Fwd, the wheel-spin only happened to me twice.
Both of them when I pressed the accelerator pedal quite hard as I was exiting into a busy MRR2 from a T-junction.
Nothing bad happened but I can definitely felt and heard the wheels pin, albeit for a very short time only.
The weather was clear but I suspected there could be some loose gravel or sand on the trunk road that I was exiting from.

Once you get used on how to press the pedal, should not really be an issue.
