Err..just some step on what to get in my POV.
After get your HU, will be amp, woofer, active crossover or component set speakers.

Pioneer or Sony, I myself a pioneer supporter. Just FYI, Pioneer is currently doing promotion. I remember for the same range of HU, Pioneer more suitable for RnB, Techno type of music, according to my hearing.

Since getting a used car, some of them come with a HU. Well, don't expect a decent HU, but a normal range mostly like below RM300. So, might able to save on HU.

get a pioneer IMHO, i think for <RM500, maybe u can go to zerotohundred.com and find a 3850

juz get a pioneer wif 3 RCAs out.. (rear, front and sub) if budget tight juz get 2 RCAs out..

i don c that 4000 series has more than 1 pre out

the reason y u need more than 1 pair of RCA is bcz next time u can add woofer, speakers and others..

ECLIPSE to us might b a good brand but there r still ppl out there dono wat it is and they might sound like a chapalang brand 2 them too..

i dono is it me only o my frenz larhh.. we all started wif pioneer.. (beginner's no. 1 brand in m'sia) hehe

HU > amp > woofer > Active crossover. Don't get it wrong. The crossover can't use without amp.

amp itself also got crossover isn't it? any1 use it b4 to set active??

amp's crossover got frequency limitation
the freq cut off point sometimes is not suitable (either too high or too low)
or not accurate

but some amps like genesis profile4 ultra , a/d/s comes with built in active crossover..
freq cut off kinda accurate too

but i think most malaysians would have a pioneer in their car
like my friends and i say
pioneer you get 'most bang for your buck'
i am using one btw

but eclipse the down side i dun like is cannot remove face plate leh
scared kena stolen
so whose with eclipse how you 'protect' your player leh?
