i am soooo newbie that i dont even have a car yet!!
but i just wanna standby a basic ICE system for my upcoming car~

for now, i have this speakers, bid from lelong...
i dont know the retail price...maybe i bid higher then the retail, i dont know~
i bid coz i cant go out as my leg was fractured due to an accident....
so i spend my 2 months of un-spend salary to go online shopping...
this is what i already got, is it ok for a good sound quality? :

i listen to wide range of musics..
from swedish death metal/emo rock to experimental/ambient,
gemelan bali style to hip hop/pop r&b,
jazz to country...
im universal~
SOMETIMES i would like to have my music loud....
especially when travelling with friends~

now searching for a HU...and need ur suggestion~
do i need crossover?
do i need an amp?
do i need a subwoofer?
btw my budget is quite tight, so u know~

and cant play mp3 cd's is also not a big problem since i hv ipod~

so hopefully can guide me here...
i dont need a super duper ICE, just a basic...
and sound is clear and dont have those pecah2 sound...

since u buy already...why bother asking? if i tell u ur stuff ain't good... will u get another set?
since u already have it, then u just use it when u got ur car and use it until it spoils then oni u come here and ask for recommend for upcoming upgrades

for HU.. the Sony new series might be a good choice..but still reliability is my concern as the previous Xplod series are consider as a total failure becos the reliability is crap

try to get the HU which cost around 500+ ( mid range HU) will be more secure IMHO
so total save around rm700 will get u a decent HU + ur equipment installation

Well, just to be brave in recommendation coz I myself also not pro in ICE.

do i need an amp?
NO, unless intend to install a sub-woofer. YES, if you wanna have more SQ.

do i need a subwoofer?
YES, as for you wide range taste of music. To me without sub-woofer is not an enjoyment.

do i need crossover?
YES. If u install the item above, so the system can have more clearity, more SQ. You'll feel the different.

Just my POV. Correct me if I'm wrong.

pioneer hu is not good aa?got many reviews out there about pioneer hu...some1 selling bulks also...

so based on DeReturner sugestions,

is it ok if for now,
i use the speakers just as what he suggest,
and add a crossover only...

and the amp and subwoofer will come later?
i will still hv a nice sound coming out rite?

so the prob is HU...need more inputs from u guys~

any one with 2ndhand crossover??~

Ok, since budget not allow well, keep on saving.

What I can think of now is try to spend abit more on HU as driftmeister recomended. Then run everything from HU.
Keep saving for amp and sub-woofer.
after sub-woofer, active crossover, if the speaker still working find, if feel wanna change it component speaker then active crossover.
Estimate can get everything on averange ICE within RM2000.

Do survey before buy, dont get it then only ask how to recover, usualy the solution is "throw away get a new 1."

er, actually i'm using a sony HU, a low budget 1. but from what i heard, people always complain that sony hu will wear out in about a year or two.
and yes true enough mine is almost there.

Everytime, i turn off my car, start again. there will be a DJ in the HU scratching my cd. From Sarah Mclachlan song become some really..hardcore hip-hop. I have to eject and insert the cd so that it returns to normal state again. Now, it is very sensitive towards CD-Rs....

gonna get a pioneer 6850 soon. Anyway, I was told that Pioneer is good for starters like me. It is user-friendly, and has a more balanced output than Sony and Kenwood. The salesman who likes to tell me about ICE also said that if budget below 1k for HU, Pioneer should be the choice. Sadly, he only compare with Kenwood and Sony. So, I don't know bout Eclipse.

EDIT: try not to get sony stuff. Maybe it's just me because i HATE SONY ICE.

get a decent HU first then run ur tweets and mids with ur HU
later stage only invest on crossover, amps and sub woofer

that's what i can think of with ur budget and equipment

eclipse is kinda not so popular among normal user
cos not very user friendly
but it do sound better than Pioneer and Sony IMHO
the 2005 - 5xxx series are selling below 1k
good investment i would say

haha...but i once impressed by Xplod series sound~ (back in collage days)
and at that time, i target for a complete set of Xplod system for my future car...
not till i browse and found that many of u guys are not into sony...

since u haven got ur car yet
why not wait until u get ur car only talk about getting the HU
mayb by that time u will have better budget
