One chart is usd/gold vs myr/gold. Holding gold is a marathon, not a sprint. If anyone disagrees with the annual returns, just blame Elon's Grok.

Unker is probably too old to use technology for investment analysis.
Unker just depends solely on common sense. Like don't chase high prices because it's risky Just look through Unker post in SGDMYR forum. Some were already deleted because it was irritatingly spot on. Many young fella just can't believe it when SGD dropped from the peak to 3.20...Many lost money in FX plus 6% dividend declared by EPF recently because some really took out money from account 3 to convert into SGD. Unker doesn't use excel. Common sense will tell you EPF returns can easily overcome the depreciation of MYR against SGD in the long run |

Originally, you were commenting it's risky (akin losing ones shirt) to buy gold at this current price. I'm just trying to understand your thoughts why? Pls elaborate, be it via FA, TA, geopolitics and/or common sense. This is a gold forum. Your msg above abt Sgd/Myr and epf is out of topic. Agree? |

QUOTE(prophetjul @ Apr 3 2025, 04:41 PM) Wisest, .... not necessary oldest. My simple-minded thesis below why (immediate term) gold possibly risk price drop, although couple of TA gurus suggest $3300-4200/oz, final 5th wave. Was hoping for some confluence from the other Unker. ![]() This post has been edited by Unkerpanjang: Apr 3 2025, 07:03 PM |

Oh ok... about losing one's shirt...the thing about retailers is they usually buy at the peak, and using the money they will need for something else. You can see it during COVID when EPF allowed withdrawal, some took it out to buy gold.I understand age does catch up with a person. Gold prices can be very volatile and 40-50% drop from current high prices is very normal. The spread in buying gold in Malaysia isn't very good and retailers ended up losing their shirts in one of the most rational investment in 2025. |

QUOTE(prophetjul @ Apr 3 2025, 04:27 PM) 23 years holdings is amazing. Unker doesn't think those retailers who bought at current prices can hold that long. Most likely, they buy because they just can't stand seeing others make money holding gold for long term. All the optimistic predictions here also give them concrete reasons to invest now. This is the time when Unker jump out to be party poppers, give warning ⚠️ |

QUOTE(lopo90 @ Apr 3 2025, 09:22 PM) Yeah! But it's just false comfort when compared at a snap shot.Over the 2 decades our MYR has been depreciating against true wealth (ie gold). Our epf, asnb dividends are below actual inflation. Nothing beat time in the market, just don't time the market. Layman term DCA. |

Give me chance top up a bit more |

Give me chance top up a bit more last night, the us session took gold to new heights. the asian session this morning took it a little higher but profit taking set in soon after. the european session went all out to take profit until your reported low of 3060. the us session now is taking it back higher, recovering 2% within an hour+. v gud to see it go above 3125 again; 3125 has been crossed 4 times in 4 days - becomes a strong support/resistance level. QUOTE(romuluz777 @ Apr 3 2025, 10:28 PM) this narrative is a strong one, been told by many seasoned analysts, traders, investors in recent weeks & months.hold your gold, the best has yet to come. trump hasn't even started talking about revaluing gold or devaluing the $! |
