if it ever happens, it will be post audit.

it isn't entirely clear if a revaluation will need congressional approval or just an exec order from potus.

whatever, from all the stuff i hv watched n read, most say good chance it will be revalued to current market value.

that wud push gold price even higher over time while $ will weaken, inflation goes super.

dropping gold std 1971 and revaluation of gold 1974 saw continuous hefty gold price rise during that period.

what happens to other currencies will be most interesting.

many countries, BRICS in particular, have been buying and repatriating their gold back to their own country.

while many doubt USA actually has the 8133 tons of gold, just as many think China has at least twice the reported of 2280 tons.

we may be witnessing some extraordinary global financial restructuring in the making.

let's hv some fun watching it unfold bit by bit! tongue.gif

QUOTE
Trump's latest measures expanded duties to include lumber and forest products, adding to previously announced tariffs on imported cars, semiconductors, and pharmaceuticals, heightening fears of inflation and escalating trade tensions. Investor appetite is also reflected in rising holdings of SPDR Gold Trust, the world’s largest gold-backed ETF, which reached 904.38 tonnes, the highest since August 2023.

trump tariff concerns & weak US economic data have driven up the $; bond yields falling; equity & crypto markets retreat

what's next? "hyperinflationary depression"?!

Banks usually no fees but study the spread

I prefer to buy gold etfs via brokerage. Thin spreads but got brokerage fees and management fees, which I consider minimal.

if you are new new, and want to get in quick, easiest and lowest risk are those e-gold at the banks.
ask yr bank if it offers. maybank, cimb, UOB have it for sure.
the most impt thing to know is the spread, i.e. buying vs selling price.
1-1.5% is low, 2-4% is high.
normally, there are no other charges.
buying and selling is instant, meaning the money is transferred as cash between yr accounts immediately, no waiting time.

buying gold bars at shops is more costly, bigger spread like 8-12%.
BUT... u get to hold the gold and sleep with it. biggrin.gif

Trump trade wars + retaliatory measures gave rise to incr confusion & fears as equity markets retreated.

$3000/oz shoud be hit anytime now; 2005 target should be 3100, 3200, 3500 depending who you ask! tongue.gif

Hi Sifu, I'm a newbie here. How do I invest in gold? It seems like the price will keep increasing due to factors like chips, etc. I've been trying to figure out how to invest, but I feel that Touch 'n Go e-MAS seems quite expensive. Should I just buy physical gold instead of e-gold? Thanks in advance flex.gif notworthy.gif
