Hi, do Astro need to pay when want to watch Euro Cup 2016?

My grandparents told that have to pay only can watch.

Need answers..

You did not state which package that you have subscribed.

It depends on whether which packs that you have subscribed. For people who already took up Superpack 3 or any "bundled" Pack where the Sports Pack & Sports Lite Pack are included, then you can watch it without any additional payment. I did not check... I think all the Superpack 1, 2, 3 and 4 included these Sports packs.

If your subscription do not include the Sports Pack + Sports Lite Pack, then you need to purchase the Sports Pass to watch Euro Cup 2016 (which included the so-called free Rio Olympics).

Ass-throw is also very smart too... they already know that there will be people who will add in the Sports Pack in June 2016 by paying just a small additional payment and then cancel the Sports Pack in July 2016... so Ass-throw put in a condition that ONLY subscribers who take up the Sports Pack before April 2016 (I think April) will get to enjoy Euro Cup & the Rio Olympics for "free" AND if anyone wants to also watch Rio Olympics, must also continue subscribing to Sports Pack. You cannot stop and then add it back when the Rio Olympics starts.

So if your subscription did not include Sports +Sports Lite Packs AND if you did not subscribe to Sports Pack before the "April 2016" deadline, then you have to purchase the Sports Pass loh. Its already too late for you to add in Sports Pack now so just decide whether you want to purchase the "one-time payment of RM 104" Sports Pass or not.

Did your grandparent's added the sports pack after April 2016 or was it already subscribed much earlier or many years?

If only started Sports Pack in May or June 2016, then you have to pay for the Sports Pass.

If they have subscribed to Sports Pack for a long time, then I don't know the answer. Probably the Euro Cup is available for free to SuperPack 1, 2, 3, 4 subscribers, and not for people who subscribed to the Sports Pack. Maybe other people here who have Sports Pack can answer you to confirm if its included or not.

I think you can also call Ass-throw Support to ask for the reason and they can better explain on your situation. They can sometimes make mistakes too. Happened to me a few times already which included the time when I took up the multi-room additional decoder a few years ago. Sorry for not being able to provide much better answer.

Then someone here who have subscribed to Sports Pack (Not SuperPack) for a long time should be able to provide you with the answer. If not, just call Ass-throw Support to ask for the reason why and whether there was any mistake made or not. blush.gif

Hehehe... they can always do that.

A mamak shop celebrates 10th anniversary and advertised free 1 glass teh tarik whenever a person orders 2 roti canai and 1 cappati for the whole week... when you ordered the exact same thing, you did not get the "free" teh tarik so will you sit quietly, finished the food, pay and just leave without the free teh tarik? Of course you can tell another person NOT to go to that mamak shop and go to another one. You forgot that you have "lost" the enjoyment of 1 free teh tarik which you are entitled to.

The question here is... your grandparent have subscribed for so many many years since Ass-throw started service and IF they are entitled to watch Euro Cup and Rio Olympics for free because they have Sports Pack, do you think you should just keep quiet without asking Ass-throw the reason why and whether they have made a mistake... and just give the inconvenience to your elder folks to go out at night to watch the Euro Cup? Your grandparents may NOT even want to watch Euro Cup but that is not the question here.

If someone is entitled to a free gift for purchasing something and did not get it, then that person should ask for the free gift.

Well... of course you have the right to decide whatever way you think is acceptable to you because there is no right or wrong here, hehehe.

In my opinion, I believe Ass-throw is so calculative to subscribers. Many years ago, I did not get Sports Pack and subscribed to it just to watch the World Cup at that time... when I terminated this pack 2 months later, I was charged RM 10 for "termination fee". SO... whenever I find anything that I am entitled to get for my subscription, I will always claim it back. At one time, when Ass-throw calculated wrongly by overcharging RM10 after my change to SuperPack 3 a few years ago, I called and they corrected this error. I don't even want Ass-throw to even earn the tiny RM10 extra from me if they don't deserve it. Anyway, its only me who thinks this way. Whichever direction you decide to choose, you are also right.

Just read about the sports pack increase. Angry but not surprised. Not only Astro is increasing the price, in the UK, SkySports subscription price is also set to increase. All of this is because........EPL..

Anyways, anyone knoe which Bein feed they will likely use? would like to see the league and other sports that they are going to show..

another thing is, Astro are supposed to show all 380 matches of EPL live from this coming season on TV..previously, some matches were on delayed but now the new deal they signed in February states they will show all 380 matches Live on TV and on AOTG. Does anyone of you think they will use temporary channels on matchday when they have more than 2 or 3 matches played at the same time? especially on Saturdays?

btw, i was using the red button function on Astro Oasis (CH106) to view prayer times. Suddenly there was an announcement saying the prayer time service will be stopped on 30 June 2016. They ask to download their app to view it. Even that also want to stop ke? something useful that people can use, they want to stop yet they have all those useless Astro First channels non-stop. ppuuiiihh

Here in Malaysia:

Bundesliga : Fox Sports
Europa League: Astro Supersport
FA Community Shield: Astro Supersport

The rest if the bolded ones were not on Astro last season. If all these are on beIN, then I'll be happy enough with the channel. The Rugny were all on Astro Supersort or Setanata Sports last season

Hmm..

La Liga, French Ligue 1, Serie A, Capital One Cup, English Championship were all 'dropped' from Astro last season for no apparent reason. Only La Liga was re-added later in the season. At that time, I said that Astro did it because they were preparing a massive bid to retain the EPL rights. They retained it in February this year. So my guess is that instead of buying the rights to the 'dropped' leagues individually to show on their own Astro Supersport channels, they decided to get beIN on the platform and have all the leagues and cup that they dropped in there.

However, see how clever Astro are. All those league will usually play at the same time. There is no way they can show all those league and cup matches at the same time on a single channel. So next season, when there are matches that are not shown, for example a La Liga game being shown instead of Serie A for example, all the people start harassing and abusing Astro on FB, their easy way out reply will be 'Unfortunately, beIN Sports has the rights to the matches. Their scheduling and choice of matches is beyond the control of Astro'. So not only were they able to save money not buying the rights to those leagues anymore, they also get to use that as an excuse to raise the price of sports pack. and also use their Astro Supersport channels exclusively for EPL.
