Because they no longer produce good stuff at reasonable price. Most ICE seller place just recommend conventional wisdom stuff -> higher price better quality. Or lack of professionalism.

My uncle play expensive ICE like hell but sound quality sucks, while my father-in-law 2nd hand units are 100x better.

Yup i totally agree, good stuff are no more reasonable.

Reason 1) Our money is weak against others, so good stuff imported are way too expensive, way too expensive.
Reason 2) too many cap ayam trying to be good, so they place price point nearer to the good stuff with no quality at all

thats the same issue in the Hifi world, money dont usually speak that is better sound, maybe better in quality, but if you dont know what you are buying it is still rubbish, even it cost like a million bucks.

Also those who look for used units are people who have done research, did some audition and then get the money ready, so when chance come, they grab it at the price they feel reasonable.

why i wanted to have this thread is to get those still playing and enjoying ice to share again their experience and knowledge, it is sad that music and Hifi is quite dead, you know younger generations nowadays just could not be bothered about high quality sound reproduction.

All they know is, my I phone and my Samsung sounds very good. I know, times have changed, the phones have changed. sound quality and storage files have changed, we have Ape. Flac, Wav, apple lossless, and long gone are the MP3's.

But i can say, the hifi world has become a portable hifi rather than a home hifi. ICE on the other hand, is also very quiet. Maybe in the shops there are a lot of people still installing and playing.

Hey, never expect so many response. Thank you those who have voiced out.

I still listen to my setup although I'm ready to sell cause its coming time to change car. I reached a level that I was happy with and wasnt prepared to spend more for the diminishing returns.
If you are interested, you could kickstart things by organising a tt. But beware the poison. Good luck on your journey.

when? who's organizing? XD

and i probably won't be coming on the iswara, the ICE's a bit f***ed anyways, crossover units damaged/worn down (after so many years of usage lol) and the door panels are rattling already due to the corroded wooden mounts.

My new inspira at the moment are fully stock on ICE so nothing special la laugh.gif

i believe that depends on individual.

i actually had plans for ICE on my new car, however i picked up interest in Motorsports and i cannot possibly splurge on both and i chosen the latter.

no doubt you're right, hence why i chosen the car in the first place and had plans with you also although had to ffk until i'm done clocking some decent times on Sepang la... was supposed to get it done this weekend, but ignition.my last minute canceled/postponed cry.gif

it is a heavy huge ass sedan which makes it less than ideal for the race track, however being manual kinda makes up for that shortcoming which isn't too bad after all laugh.gif

yesterday, i got myself a magazine from the news stand. The only car ICE mag i could find was Kar Hifi.

So by all means i just bought one and went home. While i was eager to find out what does this mag can offer, i realized it has a lot of Advertisements. Well of course loads of it, page by page. Speakers, amps and car black box and so on.

But i do realized one thing, there are a lot of brands. Dont know local, international or what ever.

there are brands from, many hawk company, Mohawk, AV hawk and so on. There are also many brands from the Quart company. AV quart, audio Quart and so on. Also it seems that the red indian logo and the american eagle is widely used as a logo or brand. either you get the warrior guy with sunglasses or you get the chief of the tribe. I was wondering are they not the same? Then there were the speakers. both also from the same company i presume, just different name. only difference is the colour of the basket. some are yellow and some are green. But the design is exactly the same.

and all of the entire magazine talks about SPL in show off and meetings here and there and oh because it was an august issue they had a small pull out about KLIAV, with some pics in it. i guess there is nothing much to talk about or write about in ICE i think.

Its about what car, what speaker setup. what kind of power, and how the bass comes out, plus you get to learn many new BM words.

The only SQ is the camry, which i believe it should be good. Is there nothing to write about ICE anymore? no wonder you guys quit.

Anyway is there any other magazine that has more informative information probably some setup tuning of sound. DIY speaker box, what is important. Or maybe new technology in the market, or maybe a shootout between new HU models, features function, value and so on,

Or maybe improve using home items like what many hifi guru's do. Does it work? yes, no?

so any nice Mag?

nowdays no good quality song...thus newer generation feels like there no need to spend in ICE...

as long as they have smartphone, with Beats headphone is good enough..
for cars they just need USB port...

That's the issue now, young gen, want all in their ear, all about headphones and players, else all in one phone with player.

Unfortunately for us it is like there is no continuation. But never the less, we can still play ice on our own,
