probably i am a bit too late doing this where the golden era is all in the past.

to touch on the sensitive issue a bit on the local ICE scene...

we all are still active in it i guess... some guys quit, inevitable... but those who just pulled on the handbrake, like myself doesnt really see the value of it anymore...

during our early days, there were competition where everyone gathers and gets their points etc etc with a fair enough notion that judging was fair and square...

then few years after that, we get stories that certain brand sponsors some event, biggest pocket wins... that is just bullshit to me till eventually we just moved on...

technologies was moving at that time... setup creativity was evolving... tuning was getting more refined... improvements hardware... till just papers-with-come-value-printed-on-it came into the scene and well... just stalls everything...

to paraphrase a thai sifu i met just recent months, its a 100 points different on the score sheets when you cross the borders... its sad to hear that...

but someone somewhere are still passionate about it... I had one buyer driving across 4 states just to buy a amplifier so rare but well worth the sound! Perhaps forums is not our place anymore...

I still listen to my setup although I'm ready to sell cause its coming time to change car. I reached a level that I was happy with and wasnt prepared to spend more for the diminishing returns.
If you are interested, you could kickstart things by organising a tt. But beware the poison. Good luck on your journey.

Bring back memories as I remember some of u guys nick still. Let's just say that other priority took over ICE. Be it work family education etc... I for one can still sit down n chit chat till kingdom come about ice stuff.. Audit cars definitely a big thumbs up for me... But when it comes to buying ice stuffs or upgrade, it just doesn't interest me anymore. Maybe maybe when u tasted mcintosh, Addzest, odr, Denon or even F1, there isn't anything worth upgrading anymore. Well, that excludes the new harmotech or mercury and all those new brands I seen mushrooming this past few years.

Back then we ICE up our ride to attract girls and to show off. We do appreciate the lure of a good ICE properly set up in our ride.....
As time move on, after got our girl and been through the conversion stage into Home Minister, for some of us the priority start to change. For me the audio and video start to move into the home and some of us into our man-cave. The ride now remain a ride.. but some of us still put in some minimal ICE setup.... but think most of the audio/video spending went into the man-cave......
We stilll show off our Man-cave among the brotherhood... just that nowadays its not having our ICE ride blasting away in a nearby mamak store... Its more of a few beer in the man-cave watching movie or listening to some music while talking about the old time when we impress girls with our ride.........

i believe most of the people are just staying in hotel...they dun do anything more than bath, sleep and eat....most time in house yes, but the time for music in house, dun think it will be more than inside car for average working adult...

i think we should have a TT....its been years since i have touched ICE and i thought of going back to playing ICE but with something different in mind.

I have been thinking of using Media Player --> USB/Optical DAC --> Mosconi DSP. Do you guys think that this is possible? havent really found any installer that is able to do this for me as most of them would recommend me to just use a car player and they claim that it would sound better than the system that i have in mind...

If u wann audit car hifi, recommend u listen to this ride. Customer become a good friend. He even help me iut at kliav for 2 consecutive years.
his ride has all my latest R&D..mostly non comventional audio setup. This is d only ride whic have the most premium home hifi parts/components in it
he is  usually available on weekdays from 2-4pm occasionally

the system has very good natural harmonics.
over d years hardware remains unchanged but internal upgrades n external power supply and cabling including high purity power n grounding makes big diff.

and that's the reason for the long posting to tell people to stay away from real good quality music and trade with convenience......

cd dying is not true for now..maybe 10 years later....true? it might not because not everyone will get a freaking expensive "lossless player". Or maybe after 10 years it will be as cheap as cd rom price?

a trend is a trend, quality players still choose cd over "lossless", unless his system cant let him differentiate the difference between cd and lossless...or maybe just a little...

The reason some quit is because loss interest in music in car and turn to other hobby...follow their age...

At the end, actually i dun see the drop in car audio player, it's just that they do not form in a group like old time....
