i was wondering as i just got myself into ICE last month ago.

All the while i never bothered as i have always thought ICE is for Boom Boom Bang Bang.

I only had the perception when i installed the Morel's and everything begin to change. I could copy my Audiophile Music and play them on the Car. Can bring my mobile HIFI where ever i go.

Last time i was driving a Waja, it came with Clarion Stock Unit and never thought that the sound could be better.

I am considered a Experience person in the Hifi part but ICE. i know nothing. But at least i can relate and compare the sound Quality at home and in the Car.

I have a Morel Maximo with an entry level Pioneer HU. Which sounds much better than my stock unknown brand HU. Now driving a Hyundai Accent. I did some Silent coat and also Dynamat and sound is just superb, other than some small rattling that still happens. I dont have a sub yet so my maximo is running i believe as low as it can go. If i have a sub which will come in a couple of months, i think the rattling will be reduced.

i am just wondering, where are all those experts and Sifu's, or is it Lowyat ICE thread is not as famous as other forums sites.

Just wanna share and ask, if you guys feeling and also those who were once in ICE, why did you Quit?

is it because last time a lot of big brands, good pricing. Nowadays, the price for locally made and china made brands all as expensive as the previous brands?

Or is it our Ringgit weak, so many distributors dont want to sell ICE anymore, sell other items.

well... it was a roller coaster ride...

morel came along, everyone tried to change to morel... some happy, some not happy...
then scans come... same thing happen...

then there was these ali's and abu's who has system that only perform best with whitney houston songs... now that she is gone... they got fed up everyday listening to good'ol whitney... so they quit...

Then there was some guys... started the DIY journey at 15 yrs old, having a 3-way active system at 19 yrs old... then quit because had to go back to school... Then was busy for the last few years with start-ups...

Then there was this "bert bert" guy who went on migrating to a foreign place with foreign language... so I don't know if he is still playing ICE over there... probably with foreign songs already...

Then there was this wall street guy... who had the 2-way setup done... right up till using blue tacks... then suddenly handbrake, "spent too much on ICE dy..." He didnt come back much already after he told me that...

But if you are at the same town as I am now, you could find me at my installer's anytime I am free... Or at my foreman's... Or at my photo studio... Or at my firm... or at the starbuck's overlooking the sea...

Just not active online... because I dun like roller coaster ride anymore... ;-)

does this mean, not many people would be interested in ICE?

Like Bro Zenn, he is quitting and selling his Genesis, So means hobby bored liau, now interested in something else.

probably i am a bit too late doing this where the golden era is all in the past.

I believe things are too expensive already. Cheapskates like me only buy second hand stuffs and install in the car. I talked to some sellers and sometimes they themselves also found it hard to sell off their old equips, sometimes take months to let go , coz no takers even at low prices.

we're still around, just silently reading instead of posting i guess.

personally i've shifted my attentions to track driving so ICE is a bit in the backburner for the time being. can only have so much cash for so many things sad.gif

not cheap skate. in hifi, i also buy Used items, after you know that you can never afford new, plus used always better value. To move the next level sometimes for the love of music as a passion, one must seek the most affordable way and method to achieve audio nirvana.

Buying used is not cheapskate, it is that you know the value of the product and you acquire the skill to purchase a proper product.

Anyway i believe many are still here, just nothing to discuss. Is it the ICE has come to a level of saturation?

i think nowadays ICE is not more the target of those who want. i think Sport rims which are fancy are more of a target, Look at the used market for ICE, hardly anything to get.

And it is so difficult to sell, i think the fellow probably sell the Rims faster than a Alpine HU. Or a DLS Amp.

to touch on the sensitive issue a bit on the local ICE scene...

we all are still active in it i guess... some guys quit, inevitable... but those who just pulled on the handbrake, like myself doesnt really see the value of it anymore...

during our early days, there were competition where everyone gathers and gets their points etc etc with a fair enough notion that judging was fair and square...

then few years after that, we get stories that certain brand sponsors some event, biggest pocket wins... that is just bullshit to me till eventually we just moved on...

technologies was moving at that time... setup creativity was evolving... tuning was getting more refined... improvements hardware... till just papers-with-come-value-printed-on-it came into the scene and well... just stalls everything...

to paraphrase a thai sifu i met just recent months, its a 100 points different on the score sheets when you cross the borders... its sad to hear that...

but someone somewhere are still passionate about it... I had one buyer driving across 4 states just to buy a amplifier so rare but well worth the sound! Perhaps forums is not our place anymore...

there's definitely people out there even on these forums still passionate about it.

i still listen to music every time i'm in my car even if it's on stock speakers, and no doubt that will eventually get me back to ICE.
just need to accomplish some personal goals on the circuit until i can be satisfied laugh.gif

May be I can say is those sifu, those golden years enjoying ice now retired and have more important goals in life now. Things that they have not tried before they go away. Like me, I never bothered, but I just say, why not have one system on my car and at least enjoy it for the moment.

Because they no longer produce good stuff at reasonable price. Most ICE seller place just recommend conventional wisdom stuff -> higher price better quality. Or lack of professionalism.

My uncle play expensive ICE like hell but sound quality sucks, while my father-in-law 2nd hand units are 100x better.
