chlorhexidine  mouth rinse(oradex, bactidol, etc) will cause severe staining especially
if used for more than a week and having braces.... definitely a no no for this case....

proper brushing technique .... mouth rinse dun really help..... but if u insist, any brand will do as long as it suits your taste .... just shy away from those that cause staining....

zirconia crown prices varies due to clinic's operating cost and targeted clientele..... end product is the SAME..... generally cost above 1k though.....

Above is the fees recommendation from Malaysia Dental Association. It is written scaling and polishing is Rm100 and above, but it really depends on the clinic setting and location. I heard some place they have Rm25 for scaling too...

How about zirconia crown, not in the list though. Is not the same wt ceramic crown, right?? I got quoted by one dental wt the price of 1500 for Zirconia crown. Hmm... wondering....

Government didnt go crown. Zirconia is much stronger with ceramic, and the color is more natural. The price is usually 1k above.

Sorry dude, i prefer stay anomalously. My clinic is at norther part of M'sia  tongue.gif
Use soft toothbrush!! Hard toothbrush is use to wash the toilet bowl, haha!! I know how enjoying or 'feel' more clean after brushing with hard toothbrush, but trust me, is the technique that matters, not how hard is the toothbrush.

Sigh. Until now, I prefer using Medium toothbrush. I don't feel clean if I use soft toothbrush. I guess, I should start back use it back. blush.gif

Electronic and manual is very subjective, i tried both and i still prefer the manual. I dont think there is any side effect of electronic tooth brush other than its more expensive  biggrin.gif

Should I use mouthwash?
Yes, using a mouthwash that contains fluoride can help prevent tooth decay and help get rid of any last bits of bacteria or leftover food that you might have missed with your toothbrush.

However, don't use mouthwash straight after brushing your teeth. Choose a separate time, such as after lunch. And don't eat or drink for 30 minutes after using a fluoride mouthwash.

Many mouthwashes contain alcohol, so they're not suitable for children, as they could swallow them accidentally. If you use a mouthwash with alcohol, you may get a very dry mouth and dry, cracked lips due to the drying effect of the alcohol. You can avoid this by using an alcohol-free version.
Thanks for the info. smile.gif

Just curious, I'm getting my braces removed in 3 months. Usually how do they create our retainers? Take mould of it first then do a retainer for us? How long does this process take?

I just got my braces tightened yesterday and in just 1 day it created a gap at my front teeth? Is it normal? I have 2 upper canine and she just bonded them and is that why? I'm using traditional braces, normal wire.

It usually can be done in a day, depending the clinic have the machine to do it or not. If they dont have it, if they dont have it they need to send to laboratory to do.

I dont know what is the treatment plan of your dentist, but the gap due to braces movement should be ok. If you have any doubt just consult your dentist thumbup.gif

Firstly, I have to congratulate TS for starting the informative and useful thread.

I'd like to ask whether calcium supplement is good for teeth?
My brush my teeth twice daily and floss occasionally but not using any rinse. I am taking a daily 500mg calcium supplement. I found that when I take calcium, the gum/ teeth border (the side facing tongue, not lips) will form some whitish soft cement. Brushing will not remove it but using finger nail can easily scratch it off. It is like 'soft cement', quite similar to calcium deposit. Is it a cause for concern?

I think my teeth had minimal calculus. Dentist charged me RM80 (i saw the table for scaling is RM80-RM150) even I did not go for scaling for 10+ years. All the while no pain, no bleeding, no shaking tooth, no sensitive teeth. But my gum is a bit receeding because I used to use HARD tooth brush. Dentist advise me to change to SOFT type tooth brush, now the gum line maintained. I also think my teeth is quite hard, I use my teeth to crack the crab claw while others use the "crab cracker tool" to break the shell.

Hi, whats your view on natural teeth care products? Like the Miswak the Arabs use or the diy baking soda+coconut oil combo. Any chance you research the effects of long term use of these products? Do they get the job done as good as their modern counterparts?
