Woohooo... Registered for Larian Mesra and Power Run earlier just now. I got nice number for Larian Mesra, A0111 but Power Run I got A038 (chinese translation = "San Pat") blink.gif April is going to be such a busy month. 3 runs in 3 weeks. Woot... flex.gif

Oh yeah Amanda85, the running vest for the New Balance Pacesetters 15KM Run, try calling them at the end of April to know whether has the stock arrive. If yes, can collect early. If not, have to collect a day before the run at Padang Merbok.

I train everyday. From strength training to cardio training, it helps prepare my body for things to come. Besides, I take up indoor cycling classes in the gym. It really helps. As for running, I run 3 times a week in the morning or evening around 30 to 45 minutes per session. But as I joined Pacesetters already, I might consider joining them on Sunday's run at Bukit Aman. Anybody wanna teman me? hmm.gif

Strength training by lifting weights. Not only it makes you stronger, but it helps condition the body thus looking better.

last time when i did weight training for leg, sure cant jog for a while..huhu..

Normally that will only happen to those who seldom or hasn't been working out as the muscle is very stiff due to that. If you workout regularly, there shouldn't be any complaints.

QUOTE(Amanda85 @ Mar 29 2007, 02:12 PM)
n bkt aman sounds too far....but heard that they usually trained for 22km
*
The Bukit Aman training, they have 7km, 10km and 21km course. That's what I heard from Pacesetters when I went to their office the other day.

Yeah... Used my KLIM Adidas RM50 voucher just now and bought 2 new running shorts and 1 running vest. icon_rolleyes.gif

i still haven't use d voucher yet...coz it stated tat i need to buy a minimum of RM250 item...(1 item only)

how much is ur short n vest?
*
Yahlor. The salesgirl said I must buy a pair of shoes. But my shoes is new, only 2 months old when I bought it for KLIM. So I think she thinks that I might walk away without buying anything, so she called her supervisor to ask whether can I buy other things or not, and he said can. So I got myself shorts and vest. The running shorts costs RM99.90 each and vest costs RM69.90. So total amount is RM269.70. Damage after discount is RM219.70. YEAH... More running apparel to my wardrobe.

I went to the one at Mid Valley. I wanted to go KLCC cause I know the people there and it's their flagship store (they get new stuff faster as they are direct Adidas). But too far. Adidas is the world 2nd largest sports chain. 1st is Nike. But for me, I'm a Adidas guy. From head to toe, everything also Adidas. I just love the 3 stripes. And besides, from my point of view, Nike's stuff are overpriced and their running shoes aren't as comfortable compared to Adidas.

I'm going to the gym now to workout again. Will post pictures of the shorts and vest later tonight to share share. Take care.

As promised, here are the pictures of my running vest and shorts I purchased this morning. There are from the Adidas Response series.

And also not forgetting my running shoe, the Adidas Supernova Cushion 6. Bought this around 2 months ago when it first arrived. But I actually had booked it since December 2006. That is why I said, I prefer Adidas KLCC. This shoe costs me RM369 and it's the second best Adidas running shoe in their line up now after the Adidas Adistar that costs RM529. I really love this shoe. So light and comfy.

Hmmm... It depends how you see it sometimes. I gotta admit that Nike have some really nice designs sometimes. And some people likes the 3 stripes that Adidas has. So, it's more like a Love and Hate thingy. As for you saying that you will like to give Adidas running shoes a try, feel free to try them first before purchasing. You feet might like them or hate them. So make the correct choice before spending. Shoes nowadays aren't cheap.

QUOTE(ironrashid_2k2 @ Mar 29 2007, 04:26 PM)
Erm, i always did squat (barbell and hack), leg press and leg extension
*

Good for you! But I'm still suprised that you complain of soreness. You know lunges? Try doing that. You feel it almost immediately, but it's really good for your legs and also your bums. If you can do it properly, you can skip extension. As for squats, continue with it. Besides these, you should do upper body strength training too. Running isn't everything about the legs you know. After all these, you will feel the pain, but always remember, pain is your friend. You will wake up the next day feeling even better. Trust me.

I'll give the walk a miss this year. After Larian Mesra Polis, BHP Orange Run and Power Run, I think I'll give my body a break before going for the NB Pacesetters 15KM Run.

The unit which consist of shoe transmitter and ipod receiver is RM129. The shoes ranging from rm499 upwards.wallaneh

It's OK. I got a "mini gym" at home so I can workout without visiting the gym. Besides I can always run around my housing area like this morning I managed to run 1.5KM before it rained. Damn! But I continued with the run just now and managed to run around 5KM. So just got to wait for my new car to arrive before I join the Sunday run.

As for Nike+, the shoes are just too expensive and over rated. If you are seriously into the trasmitter and receiver, I recommend you this product. Vist http://www.switcheasy.com It's a whole lot cheaper and it works with just any shoes!

I would say that you can use it for a reference. It won't be 100% accurate. If you "lari setempat", my guess is that it will still give you a distance based on the steps you made. Well, just my assumption though.

Anyway, the Larian Mesra is just around the corner. Any of you wanna meet up?

Yahoo...Just got my Pacesetters membership card. Hehe... OK... Time to go training. Weather nice.

When you register? I registered on 26 March 2007 by going to their office. The letter was dated 30 March 2007. Whole process was pretty fast.

Why no response on whether wanna meet up this Sunday during the Larian Mesra Polis? Nobody interested?

I'll be attending all of it too except Malay Mail Big Walk. But err... I don't know how you look like, so how gonna meet? Exchange of our bib numbers maybe?

Added on April 5, 2007, 1:32 pmCollected my bib and shirt for the Larian Mesra Polis this morning. I gotta say it's poorly organised. They were not prepared at all. It's always last minute. Gotta take bib from one corner, then shirt at another. Even the free H Two O drink, some people were just too furious to collect it from another corner. Somemore the FTAAA people were screaming at each other. Hope they can improve on this.

Saturday I will be resting and loading myself with carbo. Haha... Typical day before a run. Yeah... I gotta agree that the Pacesetters card is actually quite good.

OK...Should I see you this Sunday, I will call you. My bib number is A111. Very easy to remember. Besides, head to toe, my gear is all Adidas. Haha... Come call me if you see me.

Here's my shirt and bib and one can of H Two O I collected this morning. Hahaha...

Guyz... Wanna ask you all. How do you normally pin your bib/number to you running vest? I normally use the pins supplied cause I don't see any other ways to actually do it. You know the material of those vest, one wrong poke and the thread will come loose. My KLIM 2007 vest is one good example. Very "sakit hati". So any suggestion on how to pin and protect them.

Wah... So fast already posted in here. I just came back home. Went for lunch and then exchange my leaking running belt bottle. My net time was 55 mins, 19 secs, 27 m/secs. I was so darn happy that I punched my fist in the air at the finish line cause I know I broke my personal record. Previously was 69 mins, 13 secs. But now, it's all over. Looking forward to the next run.

I was searching for ironrashid_2k2 too before the run but just couldn't spot him. But then he saw me and came over. I was glad that he did as it was really nice meeting him. Deadalus, since you spotted me, why didn't come and call me? Haiz... We were searching for Amanda85 too but just couldn't spot her. Anyway, for next week's BHP Orange Run, we will be meeting at the Fitness First, The Curve entrance. Hope to see both Amanda85, Deadalus and perhaps other LYP runners there.

Yes, they do give out certs but you need to cross the finish line within the qualifying time.

Yeah, I noticed that I started my stopwatch earlier. I nearly forgot about it actually cause both of us were so busy chatting. Haha... Nevertheless, 54 mins or 55 mins, I'm still very happy with my achievement today.

I gotta admit that uphill is really tough, but I believe that the mind is stronger than the body. It's all up in the head to know whether can you do it or not. My lower right abs was hurting when I sprinted to the finish line, but I told myself that there wasn't going to be a 2nd chance for that particular moment, so it's all out or nothing and off I went defying the pain on my lower right abs.

For your right abs, try to do crunches more (4 sets-20 reps), strenghten your core. I can't remember the training that involve you to stand and hold 2 dumb bells and bend ur body to your left and right, that also help with your midsection and candle stick.
Also try these workouts.

Err... I'm actually doing 200 reps a day, divided into 5 sets. 3 sets of basic crunch, and 2 sets of side crunches. I might mix a little sometimes if I feel like it, but most of the times I will stick with this. And if I feel really good, I will go beyond 200. After a year of this, I managed to transform a single pack to a double pack now. Hehe... Next will be 4! As for the pain that struck my abs yesterday, it's probably some cramps. I tend to have them sometimes after drinking some water, but not always. Yesterday probably just the day it decided to strike me. Hehe...

QUOTE(Amanda85 @ Apr 9 2007, 10:38 AM)
haha....sorry tat i didn't manage to catch up wit u guys,....

i actually saw phoenix overtake me....when i notice a guy wit A111 n all adidas outfit, i know it much b him....but i'm too slow to catch him up..

n my time is ....so far d best for my 10km...1hr 15 min...hahaha..i think is getting better n better...
Ooh... It's ok. I actually started with ironrashid_2k2 from the back at a jogging pace, so I thought I up my pace a little at the 500M mark to gain back the time I lost. Think that's why I overtook you and daedalus. Probably we just meet up during this Sunday's BHP Orange Run. It will be easier to meet up at Fitness First's entrance unlike at IPK yesterday. And don't worry about your time. As you said, it's getting better and better, so after more practices and runs, you will be so much BETTER! GAMBATE!
