is the same plastic.
but different mold.
some said that there is too little gap between the slider and housing result in the smoothness.

vintage blacks have much controversy, nor consensus about the definition.

For me, as long as it feels smooth after lubing then it is fine. biggrin.gif

Orly?

I never did extensive research into Vintage blacks, although I love vintage blues as the base for JHBs because they are just so... nice...

But from what I recall reading on GH, Vintage blacks use different plastics for the stem or something, which is why they are smooth.

In the end though, best switch is the one you like using.

Upgrade? hmm.gif Can only go Custom liao, can't go back already, all others are crappier than Filco.
Custom wise, most USB cable option is just like Poker II, left, middle or right side depends on the PCB and casing.

Need Custom sifus to continue with the rest of the story... blush.gif

Thats what im afraid of lol getting a board that actually doesnt feel as good as filco one

QUOTE(krislee @ Nov 14 2014, 08:38 AM)
Sounds like WASD V2 (detachable cable with 5-way routing so you can let the cable out from the side, LED, media keys, costar) but I don't know if that is considered an 'upgrade' in terms of build quality & feel.

... or go kustom.. tongue.gif

Yah been looking at WASD but only the CODE TKL offers LED function. And been reading lots of issues regarding pinging on the board. Heard some recordings of the pinging some is really obnoxious. Also CODE oni got clears i think i prefer linear switches as browns are starting to feel like a sandy version of reds to me. Never tried clears tho.

Don't understand the hate on Cherry stabs. It's not better or worse without mods, but MUCH better than costar once modded. Nonetheless, there are case mods for Filco also, and most Duckies will offer the cable routing.

In the end, IIRC Filco is the only co-star stab that I will recommend personally.

I havent modded the cherry stabs on my poker but i feels really heavy to me compared to other keys now at stock. I tried my friends kb with stock cherry stabs on ducky it feels the same to me. Too heavy. Im probably too light fingered or just lazy when im typing i dont like the tension feedback im even considering a lighter spring mod for cherry mx reds if its capable to bring the key back above actuation point. Not hating on cherry stabs in general just those ive tried doesnt appeals to me and have yet to try a modded one. To each and everyone its own i guess. Ive seen some people that swears by modded cherry stabs but since ive tried and tested costar i decided to stick with it biggrin.gif

Filco is the best OEM board there is in terms of quality.

But what I think you are looking for is bling bling, then why not go for ducky shine series. They are bling bling and have routing holes on the bottom so that u can route your cable left, right or center. Also may I suggest u to try adding thick o-rings on the side stem of spacebar, it shortens the key travel and make it seem like more responsive (based purely on my personal preference). If u happen to be around KL area we can meet up and I'll pass u a few pieces to try on your own.

I'm from setapak area. Wanted to get the o-rings the other day but decided not to cause i'm afraid i might not like the reduction in key travel. It'd be great if i could try them! laugh.gif

Not necessarily blings tho the LED is least of my priority but it'd be a plus if it has it. My higher priorities are function keys and cable routing option with detachable cables. Ducky shine series fits everything i need except for the cherry stabs. I've never tried a modded cherry stabs i don't know what it feels like but the original cherry stabs is a big turn down for me.

How to actually buy a korean custom? been looking at winkeyless for the B87 but never understands the google translation. doh.gif

How much will it cost roughly include shipping to build a winkeyless B87 board? Or is it only available during group buys?

Need keyboard suggestions..

Things i need..

- Prefer TKL
- Cherry MX Red
- Have detachable cable and preferably on the left or right side instead of middle like filco
- LED if possible
- Media keys
- Costar stabilizer

I already have a Poker II and Filco MJ2 TKL. Wanna 'upgrade' my filco to something with detachable cable and with programmable buttons or with built in media keys. Filco's a great solid board but it feels like 2004 to me with what other boards are currently offering. Non-detachable cable, cable port built in middle which interferes with my monitor, no media key supports.. I'm considering ducky shine but i don't like cherry stabilizers at all.

Any suggestions?

It is very rare to see korean custom boards that use costar stab, no idea why. Perhaps they feel it is not convenient to remove keycaps i guess?
And costar stabs must be used with a plate ( diff cut out than cherry also), while some ppl prefer board without a plate for distinct original typing feel, so pcb mount cherry stabs are used instead.

The promotion and group buy ended for b-series pcb, now b87 with firmware + rgb elements presoldered and pre-loaded cost about 65usd+
Shipping from S.Korea will be 40usd.

meaning it would be about 105usd for the pre-soldered pcb and i would just need to get a case, switches, keycaps, leds seperately?

ah so they're using cherry stabs as well i didn't notice that.

Most kastam are using cherry stabilizers, easy to remove and put on keycaps.

Yes.
For acrylic case(s) u can get together with the pcb.
Others depend on whether u wanna buy together with b87 + case or get from local stores.
