Ok. Tot since the word BYPASS is there, that means source will bypass PB battery to charge phone AND at the same time charge battery. This is needed when we have only 1 charger source and need to charge both PB and phone at same time.

Checking on this passthru thing coz if power comes from battery and source charging the battery at same time, in long run won't it shorten the life of the battery?

If source charge both the battery and phone directly, the battery charge up a bit slower coz need to share power source but battery no effect of shorten life (if its true).

How can you tell it is yellowish? On white background, u see yellowish? Mine is white.
*
Because I'm using a Nexus 5 which has a fairly accurate colour white balance. So white is white, not yellowish. Plus, I have a colour calibrated IPS monitor at home.

Thanks bro, that's why I thought of update straight to v23 to get even stable update.... Can I update to version 23 straight or need to update v22 then v23
*
Either way. You can either update to v22 by flashing the full rom, then update again to v23 via OTA, or, you can just skip v22 and go straight to v23 since the full rom of v23 is available now in miui forum.

http://en.miui.com/download-101.html#309

Normally people would always prefer to skip all the old version and go straight to the latest version, unless, you want to find out what's the difference between v22 and v23.

There's no significant evidence to prove that updating from v14 straight to the v23 would be much stable than from v22 to v23. Stable or not stable, most likely, it's all depend on your phone and a little bit of luck. nod.gif

QUOTE
(Reuters) - Xiaomi Inc said it had upgraded its operating system to ensure users knew it was collecting data from their address books after a report by a computer security firm said the Chinese budget smartphone maker was taking personal data without permission.

The privately held company said it had fixed a loophole in its cloud messaging system that had triggered the unauthorised data transfer and that the operating system upgrade had been rolled out on Sunday.

The issue was highlighted last week in a blog post by security firm F-Secure Oyg and had been reported by media outlets in Taiwan. Like Apple Inc's iMessage service, Xiaomi lets users avoid SMS charges by routing messages over the Internet rather than through a carrier's network.

In a lengthy blogpost on Google Plus, Xiaomi Vice President Hugo Barra apologised for the unauthorised data collection and said the company only collects phone numbers in users' address books to see if the users are online.

He said the smartphone's messaging system would now only activate on an "opt-in" basis and that any phone numbers sent back to Xiaomi servers would be encrypted and not stored.

Some industry analysts say Xiaomi has pipped Samsung Electronics Co Ltd to become the top selling smartphone brand in China, the world's biggest smartphone market.

Although an increasing number of smartphone apps harvest vast troves of personal data including a user's real-time location, the address book remains a particularly sensitive domain.

The U.S. Federal Trade Commission fined the social network Path $800,000 last year after security researchers showed how the company siphoned users' address books without their knowledge and stored it on its servers.

As a result of the Path controversy, which began in 2012 and prompted a brief Congressional inquiry, Apple changed its iPhone operating system so that app developers would have to ask explicitly for permission before accessing address book data.

Just update the full rom, if u r on V22 only need to update the patch which around 12 MB, if u old older version then need to update full rom around 591 MB.

Yes can update from V14 to V23, no need go thru 'V22.

Why is the Mi3 screen yellowish lol
*
Cause that's better. tongue.gif Easier on the eyes. My AMOLED screen also quite yellow. And my monitor is set to warm tongue.gif

Bypass seems useful so that it first charges the phone, and then the PB. No need to swap device, can charge while asleep.

Thanks for the advice on how to get a PB.

And thanks for the pricing of the piston.

Your phone will detect OTA of v23 once you updated to v22.

See this.
