Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (2017)

I very rarely research a movie, before I watched them anymore

So alot of times, I rely on whose is in a movie or who a director is, to make a decision if I am going to watch a movie.

I heard a little buzz about this movie and finally manages to watch this today and it is.... it is genuinely a really good movie!

Getting an original script is a rarity nowadays, and this script is original

Now, getting an original script and have everyone, and I mean, everyone on it (Directors, actor, direct of photography etc) all invested in making a good movie... Wow!

I disagree with alot of the decision made by the characters in the movie, and that is besides the point.

The point is, there people were in this situation and this is how they decided to deal with it

There are some really HEAVY decision being made.

And these decision are LIFE changing

I cannot emphasize more on how amazing a movie this is

As I had said, everyone was invested.

Beautifully shot by the director of photography

And because it is a drama, dialogue is crisp

The ending was a little surprising!

We the audience are like passengers on a train and the movie is the passing images on the train's windows, So we are only privy to view and snapshot and then we pass through and we don't know what images come next

Brilliant way to end the movie

My Two Sen

Mrs. Doubtfire 1993

Gosh, this is a bitter sweet viewing of this, I consider one of Robin Williams top movies.

Bitter sweet, because it is really good to see Robin Williams in his top form, and sad because in 2014, there was actually indication that Chris Columbus and Robin Williams was in discussion of a sequel.... And then he (Robin Williams) passed away

Never watched it in the movies.

I believe the first time I watch this movie was on LD...

This movie never looked so good, I always wonder if it is a mistake to go full digital

The film transfer for this movie is really good. Warmth comes to mind.

Also hard to imagine that the kids in this movie are all in the late 30s now..... shocking.gif

Also interesting that I just found out that the British Censor had issue with this movie and had insisted on cutting 3 pieces of dialogue for it to receive a G rating...

Who would have thunk...

Gosh even in High Def, the makeup for Mrs Doubtfire holds up

No wonder it won a academy for Best Makeup

Wow, Robin Williams had a good throwing arm. He threw a lemon at Pierce Brosnan's head, bullseye!!

With that, My Two Sen

justice league... is a bit of a let down.

while overall it is still alright, it comes across as having a weak plot and the villain poorly developed.

feels like an overdose of cgi too. 3/5.

Porto(2017)
Director- Gabe Klinger
Cast- Anton Yelchin(1989-2016), Lucie Lucas
Running time-76 minutes.

Film title comes from the popular tourist destination in Portugal.
The film has a three-part structure-
Jake’s point-of-view, Mati’s,
and then how they each remember the night.

The film about a one-night stand and a brief encounter between
(Anton Yelchin) Jake, a 26-year-old drifter American expatriate in Portugal.
(Lucie Lucas) Mati, a 32 years stunning beauty, sexually confident French
archaeology graduate student living there.

She offers herself multiple times to this stranger
who brings her to previously unknown orgasmic heights.
She responds when Jake tells her he loves her.
But when Jake falls in love Mati moves on.

The movie did not tell why when he sexually satisfy her so
profoundly but she eventually ends up marrying another guy
and having his baby.
She continues to speak to him even after he slaps her in the street.
And still want to continue to see Jake years later when he shows up
into her life.

Guess it is just two humans who happen to have shared a magical day together.

legend of the demon cat 妖猫传 is one fascinating fantasy movie.

a supernatural flick about yang kwei-fei 杨贵妃/tang dynasty, it is based on the japanese novel, samana kukai.

a chen kaige film, with china-hongkong-japan cooperation... plenty of cgi and special effects.

it cost $200 mil, very favorable reviews... but is said to be a failure... did not attract the younger generation at all.

i did find the cinematography and special effects wonderful, but thought the script could have been better focused w/o unnecessary bits.

i watched it in a low grade 4k version, will watch again when the real thing is available.

it received great reviews but i found it ordinary... lacks the oomph and wow factor i was expecting.
fine to watch but do not expect too much. 3/5.

annihilation 2018 is an interesting syfy film.
in the same genre but is very different from any "alien" movie.
it is not action packed but explores some new things, visually captivating.
stars natalie portman and jennifer jason leigh. 4/5.

monkey king 3... not so good.

the 3rd episode in the series is about the journey to the west's episode "Ruler of Women's Country" or 女兒國國王.

this one... it lacks the vigor, drama and "monkey cheekiness" compared to the first 2.

(if u remember... 1st one was... chow yun-fatt, donnie yen; 2nd one was aaron kwok, gong li, Feng Shaofeng.)

this 3rd episode stars Feng Shaofeng, Zhao Liying, aaron kwok.

still, a monkey king/journey to the west fan will not want to miss it. 2.5/5.

Not sure about the 4K availability.. But you are right, it's available on Netflix Malaysia. It was released theatrically only in the US, Canada and China. In the rest of the world, the film will play on Netflix.
