the 6 auto by skyactive has been tuned for Fuel economy.
it always tend to go highest gear asap. so kind of bad or not macho.

i believe the new Mazda Cx3 will have sport button, purely on auto gear moving, might be more high rpm b4 the gear change

@Bro Original Poster,

Tested the Jetta....superb transmission, the turbo is powerful and responsive, solid, stable...I could go and on.......
I was close to making a booking, but did some checking on the Internet and talked to a few owners.....and found out about the complaints and the high maintenance of a conti car.
So I booked the next best car.......M3hi-spec biggrin.gif High-5 to jeffbong....

Making a decision to buy a a particular car (big investment) needs more than just a ~30 minute testdrive. Do your homework and consider the
long-term effects of ownership.....

After saying that, it's your choice....whatever makes you happy smile.gif

A friend who bought a Preve was not happy with the transmission, so he took it to a service centre and got his auto transmission remapped (they offered several, and he chose a more sporty option). He is happy now....wonder if this is also possible with the skyactive transmission...hhmmm..

might be yes or no. not sure.
IMHO:

yes if Mazda malaysia offer that software updates for the auto gearbox.
Slight NO, because that Preve is CVT, is more dependable on Software/ECU/Engine Program tuned software.

the mazda meanwhile is 6 gear auto conventional. might be less dependable on software kind of things. Not sure haha. a ford auto gearbox ala DSG has kind of program to learn how the driver drove their car, hence later it configure itself. but seems like jerking is affecting those Ford Gearbox at the moment.

sorry, Polo sedan only used conventional 6 auto gearbox. the Engine is 1.6 NA. so more to less headache engine.

the other model by VW used DSG, it have dry and wet clutch. this DSG are the one affecting most user, (although some wet clutch mention their are problem-free) but well, some are not. stuck in SC + the VW sc handles those problem is most in-professional way (like taici one). case of missing 100km in exceed over their service will cost them the warranty of their car. Yes, you have a good point there. Preve's AT is CVT...maybe more electronic dependence there...can be tuned.
But Mazda's AT is good...better that most that I have tested.

Yes is true.. One of my frz VW golf 5 years warranty gone because one of his service exceeded about 1k and he has to pay few k for exhaust problem within the warranty period. Luckily he managed to replace his faulty gearbox before this. A lot of complaints.

No doubt Jetta is a good and powerful car. Even better now because you can get at RM 115k after discount when the CBU unit was RM 150k. But be prepared for the quality issues especially engine & gearbox and lousy after sales service.

I know the Polo Sedan gearbox is not DSG. What I'm trying to imply is how VW SC handles their customers has left a bad image in myself hence the reason why I don't trust VW yet. Maybe there are responsible SC but social media is powerful now and "bad apples" tend to spread out fast when things got screwed up.

Owning a car is more than just how powerful it is and how it handles on the road. You also need to consider reliability, after sales service, cost of maintenance, availability of spare parts, repair time and ultimately resale value. You can have a car which is a pleasure to drive but poor reliability compounded by bad after sales service and long repair time can turn ownership into a nightmarish experience.

I've done research on the 3 most popular Conti cars in our market, namely VW, Ford and Peugeot and unfortunately none of them can be recommended for the average Malaysian wage earner who does not a spare car or lots of time to spend in service centres. But if I am forced to choose between them I would choose in order of preference Peugeot>Ford>VW.

I choose Mazda 3 because my research indicate that it does not have any serious problem (keok-keok sound when going over bumps does not qualify as serious), reasonably good after sales service, no horror stories of months in the workshop waiting for parts, reasonable cost of maintenance and a good complement of safety features. RV is lower than T and H but far better than Conti cars.

Of course your priorities may differ. If your foremost priority is cornering fast then by all means go for a Conti but go in with your eyes open because the ownership experience is very very different from a Jap car.
