technologies alone, the 5d2 is very outdated i would say. a sony a7 mark 1 beats the 5d2 in every aspect, yet being cheaper used.
i wonder how come hardly anyone talking about 5DS...Canon EOS Family, DSLR, EOS - V58, The White Paladins' Territory!

QUOTE(Rice_Owl84 @ Dec 5 2015, 02:19 AM) Its not outdated in the FF photography area. But its not really the only budget FF in the market. 6D has better ISO performance than 5d2 and not that much more expensive. 2nd hand Sony A7 mark 1 & A7R mark 1 cameras are seen in the market on the cheap too. 2nd hand Nikon D610 is also around that price area too. Good suggestion!2-4K has more choices for decent FF than ever before now. But if you're patient you can wait next year for Canon 5d4 to be released sometime in 2016 and that should knock 5d2 prices cheaper even cheaper than now. But they also rumoring the release of the 6dii also, which would knock the 6D price down too. QUOTE(pengster @ Dec 5 2015, 03:20 AM) It's still a very capable camera. Of course it won't be the best for action/sports kind of photography but for portraiture, studio, planned wedding, landscape etc it will still deliver the goods. Yeah I think this is good enough, I don't usually do action/sports photography.QUOTE(adam_lss @ Dec 5 2015, 08:16 AM) Usually shoot landscape and portrait QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Dec 5 2015, 09:57 AM) technologies alone, the 5d2 is very outdated i would say. a sony a7 mark 1 beats the 5d2 in every aspect, yet being cheaper used. QUOTE(mingyuyu @ Dec 8 2015, 04:40 PM) if the 5d4 is going to as disappointing as Canon's recent releases, then good luck Canon. all their new products are pretty much I feel hor, over the past 5 years Canon's most interesting SLR products are ............ EOS 60D and EOS 70D, and perhaps EOS 100D. I don't see many people talk about their 750D / 760D, I was at the launch and wasn't impressed by them. |

after understanding a bit of photography world,
seems like Canon and Nikon are very slow about the product dev. Look at Sony, they dont care about USP of the product. A7ii and A7Sii A7Rii all receive 3 axis IS, good dynamic range, and high MP. Where else in Canon, a slight different in USP like FPS and Focus points. Price different by alot, look at 6D and 5Dmkiii |

Just a bit of question on metering.
Scenario No.1 I usually use recompose method. Example, taking a portrait shots in a no flash environment. 1 window. Where light flashes on one side of the face. To get right exposure during recompose shot, will you meter at bright face area or shadow? Usually i aim at bright side then recompose, but it will be too dark for the entire shot. Any guidance on getting right exposure? reason behind to save time on shooting without Trial and error, by adding EV +/- Next another scenario no.2 Usually in door environment, There are multiples lighting. To get right exposure between overexpose from lighting and not getting under expose from the surrounding environment. The Focus point should aim where to get right exposure in between lighting and environment? This post has been edited by munak991: Dec 9 2015, 10:36 AM |

That one you need to set to SPOT metering, as to where to aim really depends on the lights, there's no hard and fast way to tell you were it is.
For me I use manual. Even if auto right, you focus where you like and take the first shot. Look at the exposure (histogram if you need), then if you don't like you can use exposure compensate. If you're shooting in RAW then don't bother if it's 1 - 2 stops different, save time adjusting in computer. Remember that the models also will grow tired if you take too long. |

I don't see many people talk about their 750D / 760D, I was at the launch and wasn't impressed by them. 750D/760D to me at least considered a big jump over 700D, but they came way too late as most people will go for mirrorrless now for the entry level market. and look at their mirorless products, EOS M3 is supposed to be exciting but a lot of obvious crippling that can be found probably to protect the DSLR market. how I wished canon can produces a mirrorless on par with sony/ panasonic/ olympus since the EFM/EFS adapter actually works well and I like Canon's lenses a lot. |

QUOTE(adam_lss @ Dec 9 2015, 10:53 AM) answer 1 1) Got, that's the thing. I know can tweak on Lightroom, but some times you need the picture on the go.will have big difference meh between the exposures? if me i shoot janji sharp, then if want to increase exposure a bit can always edit in lightroom 2 focus on the subject 2) You focus on subject, the lighting like light bulb all over expose ady |
