munak991 you wanna learn light painting ah? biggrin.gif

Actually very simple. Just that you need long exposure and use your torchlight to move around. LED video lights works too, I use flash for light painting as well.

It's not a good way to do photography because it lacks consistency BUT for simple shots, it saves a lot of time and in some cases can make it creative or better too.

The key is to understand exposure and how the lights work.

Like taking train, highway.
Some i very suprise how they take it in a well lit area, maybe ND filter?

long exposure have to consider the environment light, but even at daylight, with ND, u also barely can get beyond 1s. (i got a cheapo 10x ND, and tried myself)

set the ISO at low, and aperture at smaller value, you can prolong the shutter speed, of course tripod is a must.

I think that there are still some situations where light painting is easier/better to achieve desired result compared to strobes. for example shooting large subject that requires equal spread of lighting like cars. i follow a lot of famous automotive photographers on facebook and most of them shoot with light painting in the night instead of strobes and the results are great biggrin.gif

the setup is pretty simple as goldfries said, just require a continuous lighting and perhaps a softbox for softer lighting. it's best to shoot in a pitch black environment to avoid ambient lighting from getting in smile.gif

the WB still looks off to me, try to use the little pipette tool in LR and click it on the plate to see if you get the correct WB, works nicely most of the time.

this is correct. in some ways you do get more control.

I use it for my casing photography too. There was once my flash ran out of battery so I'm down with only 1 flash.

what did I do? I use flash for light painting. biggrin.gif

yes. light painting technique but use flash, useful when your flashes aren't ready.

long exposure of 5 to 10 second. ISO lowest. Aperture up to you but usually narrow.

After that just shine light.

Example of light painting.

I couldn't get this outline with my flash, so I used phone torchlight.

This way I maintain the area as dark as possible yet able to get the outline.

The subject is the Tomica AE86, a very small subject.

90% off topic here.

Well, I'm jumping ship to Sony. Considering cheapo A7 and lightweight goodness. The lens selection is shit, the LCD is shit, the EVF kinda shitty but after shooting weddings with it I found that its actually not as bad as I thought without having the ability to AF with my lenses.

I don't plan to open a sales thread in LYN so just gonna share here to see if anyone interested for cheap grabs and maybe as a 2nd body.

You can either PM me or WhatsApp or text me at 0166727873.

My 5D Mark III, Sigma 35 1.4 Art and Canon 85 1.8 up for grabs smile.gif

When the location is relatively dark with only very warm lights available (and no flash/strobe).
Don't bother with taking photos, just eat.

Even with the correct white balancing, the texture/colour of the food will be slightly dull.
