Guess new thread should start about new things.  Like in 2 months time we will see new Canon goodies like the new Canon 7D Mark 2!

Considering Canon hardly updates the 7D I will be disappointed if the mk2 doesn't come with 4K video.
*
Many Camera manufacturer are moving towards 4K
Really interested to see this new format on upcoming Canon cameras!
All lower resolution video cameras will lose their value soon. Even BMPCC has a 40% discount.

Only quirk is the my lack of 4K monitors and capable video editing rig to handle 4K footages lol.

Oh DPP, The free software that comes with the camera, i never installed it, I assumed it is a basic function photo software as compared to photoshop and photoshop would have more tutorial online. Looks like slight improvement in CA in the middle of stork wings. but this is close up which i rarely shoot.

Thanks for sharing maybe someday I would use it.
I was contemplating between ordering the 70d and 7D from Lazada as the price is so similar (body only). I was wondering if buying xxD series would be considered downgrade since it is not magnesium alloy body and consider high end rebels. In the end i bought none and end up wih 60d cause cheaper. Haha, my hand was moving on the joystick area and I was like, hmmm, cannot be why am I moving my thumb near this area, and there is nothing here, then i took out my 20d , ou... i am so used to the joystick there.

Sorry what is BMPCC?  New to this video thing, when u say video cams, you dont mean dslr with video capabilities right, u meant video cams in specific.
*
BMPCC, Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera.
Essentially a (relatively) small camera with 1080p RAW capabilities.

Well, even DSLR will be affected to some degree as a lot of budget film makers are using DSLR as their main cameras as well.
If Canon 7D2 does have 4K function, it will boost it sales by quite a bit.

However as of now, Sony A7s remains the best budget DSLR for video.

hey... what is the exact price of battery charger LC-E6E?
canon website shows rm279
shops give rm350
canon customer service-first say its 279, then say price is vary depending on location, and then say its the dealer what mark up price thing.

what is the actual price?
*
Dealers are advised to not sell above the recommended retail pricing.
It should be lesser than RM 250 usually.

If you're spending RM 300, might as well get one of those multichargers.

I know but at least not someone that will rip me off for something I can sell at an acceptable price. The flash in the camera wouldn't pop up so I think it's quite difficult to sell it in the forum.
*
You have higher chance selling it higher at a forum than at a shop.
Pop up flash spoilt ? Just reduce price by 10%-25% of the market price.

A second hand 500D (Body only) would be about Rm 600-700.
Perhaps you can try to let it go at RM 450-550.

Started with a 500D back in 2009.
Got it coz it was one of the first few videos that could do 1080p video and it has some pretty good reviews.

Sure it had some limitations, as with even most DSLR today. But working around those limitations were fun.

Well DSLR are just tools as with every other photographic/videographic equipment. It's what you do with it that matters more.

It's pretty simple to just go out and shoot stuff that are sharp, good lighting, ok composition with a nice bokeh and thin DOF. Heck even for weddings shots, one can simply "go with the flow" and just snap many great but cliché photos. Everyone with enough hours on a camera can replicate what you did easily.

However to imagine an awesome vision and craft a picture towards that is what makes photography fulfilling.

Hi guys
Need some help here. I (hammer to balls) sent my 60D for repair 1 day after warranty. Ok, laugh please but now time to get serious:

Some sort of failure and now get quoted RM800 to repair. Is there any way I can appeal to kind souls or make some sort of facebook campaign to help get a discount?

Its just the right amount to make me wanna just chuck it away as spare parts and get another body but either way it hurts financially.

Anyone with any contacts to Canon service that I can bug?
*
What sort of failure ?
Perhaps if you can get someone with CPS, they may waive the service charge.

Very nice concept bro, i really loike. Props to show what he studies.

But hor ur junior forgot to iron his pakaian. Why u no help him iron out in photoshop.

Also mana dapat background, buat ke?
*
Thanks. Shot all of that in a tutorial room.

Didn't edit the greaves and wrinkles out because
1. I was so used to seeing wrinkled convocation gowns that I find that acceptable/not distracting lol.

2. He's suppose to be doing work, wrinkles on the sides are normal.

3. If it's too much, I'll reduce then for the next batch.
Thanks for the advice.

Background is just a plain black background.
Everything else is dry ice, lightblaster and photoshop.

*
Most current canon dslr can act as a master to 430exii via IR. Not wireless.

Hi,

I just wanna ask if Canon 28-70mm f2.8 is still possible to repair. Its zoom stuck at 50mm and cant go to any further.

If anyone of u been experiencing same problem, pls tell me the cost for repair it.
*
Unfortunately I don't think any of us here have that experience.

You could try emailing some 3rd party camera repair shops or canon service centre themselves.

If nothing is broken, it should not cost crazily high.
I know the cost of front element replacement is easily RM1.5k for a 24-70 f/2.8 I

Try with a different lens.
If I'm not mistaken, it's lens specific ?

I bought the 17-55 about a year ago.

Around the time the 6d was coming out, I had a long thought about buying the 6d (inc the 24-105) and going the FF way.
In the end I decided to stick with APS-C which is why I bought the 17-55.
At that point my plan was already to buy the 7d mark ii if it were ever to come out.
*
Why not just give it a try in a shop and trust your gut feeling?

3.5mm TS cable.
Unless it has a PCSync port. Then use PC sync connector.

Thanks, but still confused...
The Yongnuo RF-603 comes with a cable, which, according to the manual, is 'PC sync cable/shutter connecting cable'. The cable can be connected to the 2.5mm shutter socket, but not the 3.5mm PC socket. So what I need to do is to use a 3.5mm converter?

See attachment...
*
Most strobes have a 3.5mm TS input.
So you could get a PC sync to 3.5mm TS
or
2.5mm TS to 3.5mm TS

Just my opinion, i am not sure how often Canon release firmware update for its camera
If they do release the 750D, maybe a minor tweak done to the 750D eg. the video quality aspect you wanted. This can be done with a firmware upgrade, but instead they release a newer model to do the 'upgrade'. Pushing customer for the newer model. Same sensor since 550D to 700D, hope Canon can come out a bigger spec difference compared to the previous gen even is a beginner model. Not just announcing a model for the sake of announcing. biggrin.gif
*
Most yearly DSLR updates for levels are
1. Slightly better iso performance
2. Slightly better AF
3. Add WiFi
4. Add touchscreen/flip screen
5. Better burst shot
6. Better video fps/resolution.

Essentially it's just a roullete and pick a new features from there.

Nothing new. Nothing groundbreaking.
Eg of what I would like to see :
implementing hyperlapse app into the camera. An in camera video editor with working gyroscope to create smooth hyperlapses. This will definitely sell well.
Programmable focus for video capturing in certain lenses. (aka rack focus on magic Lantern)
Smooth 1080p crop mode during video. Zoom in and out during video smoothly and still maintain that 1080p resolution.
Extremely fast wireless AC mode to stream to a computer. Heck. Can even stream raw or very high dynamic range video formats.
A fast and low noise foveon sensor or a resolution/sensitivity lytro sensor.

what u guys think of 24-70mm F4L IS + Canon 6D

going to shoot:

Leisure use
Food Photography (really professional those)
*
Yes it is sufficient.
Although for food photography, spending resources(time and equipment) on the lighting is also important.

Hello sifu-sifu,
I'll be going to Korea for a vacation and the camera bag I have is the original one from Canon. Since its going to be snowing in Korea at the end of the year so I'm just wondering if the original bag is suitable for that kind of weather. Should I buy better bag i.e. Kata, Lowepro.
Appreciate any advice.
Cheers, TH.
*
I'm sure the canon camera bag would be suitable even in winter.
That said, having a good bag does make life easier.

I highly recommend the rotation 180 panorama bag.
It's true quick access, comfortable, doesn't look like a camera bag and all weather.
