Prasarana Malaysia Bhd said it will start awarding the main packages for the 37km Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3) project in June or July this year as announced earlier.

"Up to now, we have completed (awarding) the system work packages for LRT3. So now, we are going into the civil construction or civil work tenders," its president and group chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Sri Azmi Abdul Aziz told reporters after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd and Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) today.

Azmi said Prasarana expects to complete awarding all the major work packages for LRT3 by July this year.

KUALA LUMPUR: WCT Holdings Bhd has clinched a RM185.9mil contract from Prasarana Malaysia Bhd to build the Johan Setia depot and undertake associated works under the Light Rail Transit Line 3 (LRT3) project.

It said the works were expected to be completed within 18 months from the date of the letter of acceptance (April 4).

Prasarana has targeted to start civil works for LRT3 between March and May, with construction of phase 1 to be completed by 2020 and service to start in August that year.

Noticed that there isn't a thread for the KL Klang BRT which seems to overlap with LRT3 to some extend.

The proposed Kuala Lumpur-Klang Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) is well received by the market, judging by the interest shown following an invitation by the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).

At the close of bidding on Tuesday, five proposals were received following SPAD’s request for proposal (RFP) issued on Jan 1 for ideas to optimise the project spanning 34km with 25 stations.

The RFP exercise is open to all bidders registered in Malaysia with experience in transit or infrastructure projects, with the scope of the RFP including planning, designing, financing, constructing, operating, maintaining and even upgrading the BRT line.

Depot area land clearing and construction has begun.

Number of pile drivers and machinery is there already.

when the overhead works begin along the Klang-Banting road near Johan setia area, going to be a massive congestion in that already narrow road space.

Anyhow, Johan Setia/Parklands area will see a great boom after completion.
