QUOTE(bai1101 @ Sep 4 2014, 07:55 PM) Alpha as to A6k? I have a Zeiss Jenna Tessar 50mm f2.8 . Works great but getting the lens setting to home at infinity requires a bit of calibration.. I ignore that .. Now I switch to Contax G Zeiss with autofocus adapter.. much nicer. |

QUOTE(bai1101 @ Sep 4 2014, 02:55 PM) I have tried M42 lenses with my my old A200 before, specifically the Jup9 2/85. My advice, stick with the bayonet mount MF lenses (ie. everything not M42 or M39) unless you wanna dedicate 1 adapter per each M42 lens. Why? Once you get the adapter on you'll have a near impossible time trying to get it off the lens. As for good lenses, Konica/Rikenon and Minolta is good and cheap, though prices should be a bit steeper now thanks to the Nexes and the A7. I'm having a much better time on the A6k now when it comes to MF though, as I can use my old Nikon glass now (which I couldn't with the A200). These include the Tokina 3.5/17, Mir24m 2/35, Kalienar-5n 2.8/100 and Nikon-S Auto 1.4/50. There's also a Minolta MD 1.4/50 and that old Jup9 (which is still pretty much stuck to an A-mount adapter). All works fantastic on the A6k, except the Mir which is has fungus a bit and the Minolta which I lost the adapter for (but will buy a replacement as I prefer it to the Nikon-S in terms of bokeh). Sure, we lose in body stabilization with E-mount bodies but oh well. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Sep 4 2014, 03:31 PM |

Not sure if it did, in this picture. ![]() This was probably at 19cm. ![]() Bigger shot showing that Zeiss look. ![]() This was the Zenit Industar 61 L/Z 50mm F2.8 Macro. Tiny, tiny lens! ![]() I also have a Peleng 8mm F3.5 circular fisheye, originally in T-mount, with an adapter to M42. M42 lenses can be adapted to A mount without using any glass - it's just a plain metal ring, and retains infinity focus. ![]() Left to right: Peleng 8mm F3.5 circular fisheye in M42 mount, Minolta 50mm F1.4 (in A-mount), Jupiter-9 85mm F2.0 in M42 mount. ![]() Jupiter-9 85mm F2.0, on my A900, I think. I have to say though, that the era of fun with M42 lenses on A-mount bodies has long passed since we can find auto-focusing variants now for cheap, that have much better optical quality, e.g.: Peleng 8mm F3.5 - too wide, use Samyang 8mm F3.5 instead Zenitar 16mm F2.8 - not wide enough on APS-C, use Samyang 8mm F3.5 instead Any 50mm - the Sony 50mm F1.8 DT SAM focuses closer! Any 50mm F2.8 macro - the Sony 30mm F2.8 DT SAM is wider for APS-C Jupiter-9 85mm F2.0 - the Sony 85mm F2.8 is autofocus and sharp wide open Carl Zeiss 135mm F3.5 - nothing in that range, but 135mm is a bit long for APS-C Note that I say APS-C because M42 lenses back then were mostly budget options for APS-C users, even though all M42 lenses were full-frame compatible. On FF though, the Peleng/Zenitar/50mm/135mm all make a lot more sense, but by that time you might already afford a better lens. |

QUOTE(petrofsky77 @ Sep 4 2014, 05:48 PM) Finally, a dedicated digital MF Zeiss lens for the FF e-mount! Welcoming the new Zeiss Loxia family. IMHO, they're a tad slow at f2 but at least they're relatively tiny because of it. But, if they're sharp wide open, it wouldn't really matter.http://blogs.zeiss.com/photo/en/?p=5313 Anyways, I just discovered another awesome feature that my old A200 did not have that the A6k does (and it works pretty darned well too): the pop-up "bounce-able" flash. ![]() The room was pretty dark, as it was after all a mushroom cultivation chamber. And yet that tiny pop-up flash does quite well being bounced off the walls and cellings - especially considering I usually only shoot in portrait orientation. It's not perfect, but for something that comes built-in, I'm pretty impressed. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Sep 4 2014, 08:33 PM |
