i don't see any need for that. What A6000 needs now is a firmware update to include XAVC S codec, and it will continue to sell like hot cake once again. biggrin.gif

Hey guys! I'm kinda stuck making a decision, and thought I'd see if anyone here can offer some insight =)
I own an NEX-6 and I'm considering buying a spare battery, but an original battery is 200++ =(
Do third-party batteries work fine? Is there any option to charge the batteries outside the camera? Would love suggestions/recommendations =)

You need to read some reviews and make sure the 3rd party product is a good one, or else it may damage your camera or the original battery.

After some research, I bought this one here. Not sure if Malaysia has it or not, I had my friend brought it back from USA while ordering it through this popular online seller:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/8374...harger_for.html

This one is very good and also you can just put different plates on top on it to charge different brand's battery. In addition to that, it also has a USB output and also a car adaptor for you to charge your battery when driving. So far it works great for me.

I haven't used any 3rd party battery before though, so no comments on that.

Ive used third party external charger and battery from KEEP, the charger works fine for both ori and third party and the charging plate is changeable also. But the battery is lighter than the ori though, not sure whats missing inside, battery life is a tad lower when compared to the ori.

Thanks guys! Btw, do they work with NEX-6? I did some reading online and seems like Wasabi Power is quite good...some people also did mention that the earlier models of NP-FW50 may not work in the NEX-6.

Does anyone know any place in Malaysia where I can buy them in-store?

no, my friend bought it at RM2450 for A6000 + 16-50 kit lens. Comes with free little camera bag, LCD protector....forgot got free SD card or not. Ya, my friend also bought the silver version, it looks much nicer we think.  laugh.gif

Wow, great deal on the a6000 indeed! thumbup.gif

I guess an enthusiast photographer may go for the a6000 more because of the hotshoe as well as the evf. Casual users might favor the a5100 more because of the cheaper price (comparing retail to retail) and the easier ability to take selfies. Both are still capable of taking some seriously good photos though.

I preorder a5100..due to the screen can tilt till 180. can take selfie with my wife and baby. evf or hotshoe function not really important to me.

somemore took monthly installment 24months...rm100 per month only

i was in this dilemma too, but in the end i pre order A5100.

At the end difference between these two are:

EVF + Hot Shoe + Faster FPS (A6000) vs Touchscreen + 180 Tilt screen + smaller size (A5100)

Only u know ur preference and usage, nobody can tell you which one to buy. In general, if u are not THAT into photography, then buy a5100. If u plan to buy Flash or really into sport photography, take A6000 nod.gif

Fact that you noted a lower weight means there are less inside..

I have them from several brands.. and there appear to be a coloration between weight , cost and charge ie working life.

I belief if you use external charger. it should not give you any of those issues mention.. also you will find the charging is faster and less chance of messing up your camera should anything go wrong with the original or OEM battery..

Hmm would you mind elaborating on the correlation between weight, cost and working life? What brands do you use, and where do you get them from?

What I found out was if it heavier, it hold more charge and that also equate to more expensive..

Got all of them from Aliexpress or eBay.. Nothing specific as they keep on changing the brands.

Bought tome over a period of 2 years

Sounds unscientific but is prolly true. Less weight means the cell inside is either smaller or less dense. Myself I'll prolly stick with Sony for the first spare batt (and charger combo). After that... online spree time.

Anyway, been lurking out in the rival X camp for a bit. Liking Fuji output and lens lineup. Not liking the prices lol, even if it IS world leading glass. I guess it's back to the Sony camp for me then unfortunately.

Planning on getting my A6000 body this weekend. Anybody spot any good deals floating around?

Also aiming for a nikon-AIS adapter to use with my eccentric array of classic F-mount glass, where to get those?
