Hey guys, give it a benefit of doubt lar...
judge it sucks or good after you've watch it on big screen, it's too early to judge how good is a movie based on the design remember Casino Royale? Everyone was bashing Daniel Craig after he was cast as 007, but turn out he fitted quite well in the new bond movie The trailer are awesome btw, are scorpionox suppose to be that small?? all the while I tot scorpionox is a big mama decepticon? |

QUOTE(Xero @ Dec 27 2006, 10:51 PM) The new transformers look is a lot better guys, but it is a little too complicated the design, makes people hard to remember which one is which. Guys, I dont think the old Optimus Prime or Megatron look would fit in a 2006 transformers movie, because the old school look is too cartoonish and would make the movie unrealistic, it would be even more of a joke. Cuz the old design is from the 1980s. yeah right........ http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/TF/bt/index.html now wouldn't that be nice? cars of today + transformers, awesome man. TF&F + TF = F&F (Fun and Furious!!!) the old look is not cartoonish either. just go youtube and do some search on transformers and you'll see some nice ones. heck look at what one of our local talents did. http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/382263 yup, looks like based on Binaltech moulds......which were some what based on the original G1 moulds. |

I like the updated designs of the transformers. A correct decision.
It will be silly to use the old G1 designs as they are not exactly logical and porpotional when compared to the transformers in vehicle mode. Remember Megatron being such a huge *ss robot tranforming into a small gun? (doesn't make much sense). They things they transformed into are also outdated and most of the vehicles are not even in production anymore. As with any Hollywood adaptation, changes will need to be made, themes or designs updated, and also it has to be relevent presently. As much as the fanboys want it to be the G1 designs, the movie will not sell on the profits from the fanboys alone. The movie has to have a certain mass appeal while still satisfying most of the fans. A movie directed by fanboys or with too much input from fanboys will just be self indulgence crap that will only satisty their own desires and fantasies. Michael Bay is the perfect director for action movies such as this. While I am not a big fan of his movies storywise, I am a big fan of his action sequence. Surely one of the best action directors around. With Spielberg on board too, I am convinced the humanistic aspect of the story will be correctly treated. The movie is in good hands. I can't wait. Go Autobots!!! |

StarScream and his gang will be really big compared to the autobots. not like we care, many of us just prefer to watch our childhood heroes face their villains again in an actual movie. |

QUOTE(goldfries @ Dec 30 2006, 02:47 AM) like i said earlier, they could still use modern cars and still convert into something that looks like a transformer rather than a piece of abstract art. I think it is still too early to judge the designs of the transformer. So far we have only seen Optimus Prime fully in a properly CGI form (looks damn cool to me). The rest we have only seen the concept art and glimpses of it from the trailer. As with most designs, the end product tend to be very different from the concept art.or hey, if it's outdated then they could set the setting to be in 1980s. StarScream and his gang will be really big compared to the autobots. not like we care, many of us just prefer to watch our childhood heroes face their villains again in an actual movie. And let's face it, even using modern cars, the toys designs don't exactly look 'nice' with the unbalance porpotion. The only designs that actually look 'correct' are from the masterpiece series and even then, it will look really silly in a live action movie since those designs don't exactly convey the sense of fluidity and balance in their movements. I have seen early CGI shots of the transformation using the G1 designs and seriously, they do not look good in 3D. From what I saw in the trailer so far, the redesigned robots looked convincing enough, moved naturally and smoothly, yet still retaining the sense of scale and weight, and the transformation actually believable. ps-Soundwave is in the movie? But surely not a cassette player right? It will be really silly if it is. |
