other than Incinerator, the rest looks horrible. Prime sux, Bumblebee sux, Starscream sux.

want to make TF movie, make it like the original la. ask them to refer to MP01 and MP03 for crying out loud (ok i know MP03 not yet out la)

now here's the one I like.....

but then what about the other non-Transformers fans?

so? makes not difference whether they're fans or not in the 1st place.

giving TF the 'weird new look' would mislead people.

put it this way. new look - unknown response from non-fans, pure-flaming from fans. but to stick to the original look - ahh then you still have unknown response from fans but at least the fans would appreciate the effort to maintain it's originality. smile.gif

like been said earlier... the team already stated everything will be totally new from the existing transformers and they wont use the old original design. damn dissapointed...
*
then what's the point of having it called Transformers when everythign will be totally new? smile.gif

damn it. cannot la like that, heck even if you use the chars from Takara's Binaltech's line would still make it nice.

ironhide rules....sort of the enforcer of the autobots during the early days...jaz is cool...one of the cool early autobots we were introduced to...
*
speaking of Jazz, his Binaltech series was named Meister in Japan instead of Jazz. smile.gif why? Honda got Jazz already, so it would be misleading to release a Mazda RX-8 autobot named Jazz.

ok. wink.gif well anyway - back to topic. even Citroen ads produce nicer bots.

the name bumblebee is too cute for camaro. the name bumblebee was chosen (IMO) to suit the yellow VW Beetle.

IMO this being the first Transformers movie, it should capture the essence of the original - the G1 transformers.

that's where the old fans are happy about and the new fans get to know the originals.

however in this case - everyone's having new bots to look at, unfortunately it's not tastefully done.

heck even if they used Binaltech / Alternator moulds would still look better, cos at least it's still based on actual Toy / Figurine units.

QUOTE(yeehs18 @ Dec 20 2006, 11:41 PM)
For all those noobs dodo that say this movie gonna sucked probably brain filled with grasses. Do you think it is wise to use the same old design in G1 cartoon again in this movie? What year is this?

LOL. and why do you think transformers like MP01 and MP03 are so expensive? to the extent MP01 once reached RM 1k++, and it's a G1 Optimus Prime.

the G1 ARE the CORE of transformers, they're the heart of the whole lineup. smile.gif when you say Transformers - who do you think of first? OPTIMUS PRIME G1!!!

yup. in fact the old look is more simple and easier to appreciate.

heck that silly OP has more nooks and crannies than Alien.

it's really dumb. really really really dumb.

i was thinking they might consider using Binaltech moulds instead of the G1 moulds for some characters, like smokescreen for example. biggrin.gif but no matter how OP and Bumblebee MUST REMAIN!!!! tongue.gif and yeah, Megatron and StarScream too.

The new transformers look is a lot better guys, but it is a little too complicated the design, makes people hard to remember which one is which. Guys, I dont think the old Optimus Prime or Megatron look would fit in a 2006 transformers movie, because the old school look is too cartoonish and would make the movie unrealistic, it would be even more of a joke. Cuz the old design is from the 1980s.
*
yeah right........ smile.gif they could always use Binaltech / Alternators design.
http://www.takaratomy.co.jp/products/TF/bt/index.html

now wouldn't that be nice? cars of today + transformers, awesome man. TF&F + TF = F&F (Fun and Furious!!!)

the old look is not cartoonish either. just go youtube and do some search on transformers and you'll see some nice ones.

heck look at what one of our local talents did. smile.gif
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/382263

yup, looks like based on Binaltech moulds......which were some what based on the original G1 moulds.

It will be silly to use the old G1 designs as they are not exactly logical and porpotional when compared to the transformers in vehicle mode.  Remember Megatron being such a huge *ss robot tranforming into a small gun? (doesn't make much sense). They things they transformed into are also outdated and most of the vehicles are not even in production anymore.
*
like i said earlier, they could still use modern cars and still convert into something that looks like a transformer rather than a piece of abstract art.

or hey, if it's outdated then they could set the setting to be in 1980s. smile.gif and what's wrong with Megatron being a gun while Soundwave / Blaster being cassette players?

StarScream and his gang will be really big compared to the autobots. not like we care, many of us just prefer to watch our childhood heroes face their villains again in an actual movie.

If I ever watch this, I'll have to pretend it's not a transformer movie to avoid disappointment. The designs... AARRGGGGHHH....

But then, if the story is good, it might be a good movie after all, although loyal transformer fans would be enraged. It maybe end up like Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within... alienating FF fans even though the movie is a good one.

Final Fantasy : TSW wasn't a good show IMO.

i mean seriously, even if you don't which to use G1 looks then at least you can still use the mould on newer vehicles - just like what they did with Binaltech / Alternators line.

and even that cab for G1 OP / Magnus looks fine. same goes to StarScream, which sorta resembles an F-15.

well, at least Blackout looks nice. smile.gif

If Alt/Binaltech Smokescreen walks in real life, I can bet that he will fall over in no time. While Grimlock's large front bumper chest can hardly seen what's below him.

LOL. and you're equating a robot with humans.

they could have sensors build around that they don't have to look at their feet. smile.gif and gyros inside that help them balance.

funny how you talk about Alt / Binals toppling when fact is that if you compare them to StarScream from the movie, StarScream looks even more unstable. smile.gif

heck who cares about real life - if those in the movie won't topple despite how badly they look then surely the alt / binals (similar to G1 mould) wouldn't topple either.

and i prefer a clean look for robots.

EDITED : unbelievable amount of typos.

anyway designs are subjective. can browse all over the place, some people like the new. some like the old.

i like sleek and clean look, therefore among all of them only Blackout appeals to me. the rest looks ok in vehicle mode and sux in robot mode (to me la.)

as for Scorponok, man it hought Megatron Classics was toy-like enough (toy, as in McD's Happy Meal toy) but Scorponok holds the title for good!!

IMO right now it's not about the looks of the robots, it's about how the show goes.

YA true! How can u judge a film based on the trailer itself happy.gif

yeah. no matter how i dislike their designs (other than OP), the trailer awed me silly. i'm a sucker for fast action with cool camera angles.

QUOTE(PhoenixByte @ May 19 2007, 06:29 AM)
Besides, do u still want an old vw and an old truck of the 80s to still roam the streets in 2007?

actually bumble could be new beetle, OP can be a new truck. heck it could be set in the 80s but it might be boring. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(PhoenixByte @ May 19 2007, 06:29 AM)
If you know the origin of how the transformers got their vehicle transform mode...u'll agree on the new version.

not necessarily so. knowing how they got their vehicle mode doesn't mean one agrees on the new version.

i've posted many times, choose la shapes from Alternators / Binaltech series. smile.gif looks nicer. i'm ok if they take new form but i personally (note the word PERSONALLY) find that the designs are awful. the toys are ugly and are so complex they look like random mesh of parts from the junkyard.

nevertheless the special effects are still cool (why can't they do it like that Citroen ad, or Nike shoe ad)

even when i look at the toys, i found only OP and Bonecrusher to be nice. the rest are just ugly.
