page 165 " Proton recommends that you rotate your tyres approximately every 20,000 km."
==> I assume that at around 40,000 km, replace all 4 tyres with new ones. Right? Of course, replace the ones with high worn out on the threads earlier if needed.
*
Errr no, rotate your front tyres to back, and your rear tyres to the front. Tyres can normally last well above 3-4 years before it needs changing (depend on the condition).

If we go by your assumption, we need to buy new set of tyres every year.

The mileage shown is just a guideline. It's best we check the tyres condition physically.

As mentioned by Bridgestone, a number of vehicle manufacturers are now advising against the use of tyres that are more than six years old due to the effects of ageing.

Thanks.

Changing tyre guideline (beside the thread thickness criterion) is like muddy water to me. Ha.

a. Tyres have shelf life of about 5 years. So don't buy tyres approaching the 5 years though they may be cheaper. Yes, even for unused tyres. I said about 5 years, not a definite fixed period. I am sure there are some with tyres more than 5 years on the road now. But for my own safety, I will use that 5 years as my guide.

b. My mileage is about 10,000 km per year. So switching the tyres after the 2nd year (20,000 km) and replacing the 4 tyres after the 4th year (40,000 km) seems to suit me, meeting the 5 years guideline. Maybe I will delay replacing the tyres till the 5th year if the tyre threads are still good. Ha.

A different story for those with high mileage, unfortunately.

Cheerio.

if now my tyre botak already.. shud i just change the front tyre? or i use my back tyre as front and use my new tyre at the back? if like tat means i dont benefit from the new tyre( better traction, water removing etc) at the front esp where it is more important than the back tyre.

Lol at least put up some pictures of both front and rear tyres.

But the safest bet is of course to buy a new set of tyres.

My 2 cents using advice from a tyre manager.

The front wheels will take a higher load (changing direction, braking etc) than the back tyres. Thus they wear out more than the back tyres.

Better to put the new tyres at the front and use the back tyres where they are IF the thread thickness is still OK and the tyres are still in their 5 years working life span.

Can't help you with your question but just wondering why manual car?

My first 2 cars were manual cars. After changing over to auto, I said I would never go back to manual any more! Ha. It makes driving so much easier and comfortable. But they say manual has better FC than auto. Tried to find out why but still not 100% convinced especially with today's technology in auto cars. Even if it is true with the better FC, is it really worth the "troubles" in using manual cars?

My apology to manual car drivers. Please don't bombard me with your arrows and bullets! Ha.

Been a manual transmission driver for more than 10 years. In my view, yes, nowadays with the current conditions of the traffic on the roads, the convenience of an automatic transmission far outweigh the pros of the manual transmission. The only appeal of a manual transmission vehicle the way I see it is in the driving excitement, that's about it. Can be useful if you are in a racing mood and want to go into racing mode. It's nice to shift the stick around when going into corners or exiting a bend. Though how many times you want to do that in everyday driving. Fuel economy of a manual transmission may be slightly better than an automatic transmission but it depends on the driving style too, and most auto transmission vehicles are able to give good mileage these days especially the smaller cc vehicles.

For pure driving thrills and excitement, vehicles which come in manual transmission usually appeal to the niche market. Such as the Ford Focus ST. Folks buy these vehicles purely for fun driving. Though the Preve manual can give thrill seekers who are tight on budget, just not too much fun as those "real" authentic fun cars which usually cost quite a bit more than RM150k.

hmm.. when u want fold down, u must press the button on rear seat.. if locked properly, the button should be feel hard press.. if not locked properly, button is easily to press only.. when u want fold back, u just push back the seat with a bit power.. make sure the button is become steady/hard when try to press.. u can buy any black tape to tape on the steel over there if u still found got some sound.
if u compare with sylphy, focus, camry  (only sit old sylphy and new camry), ya they really quieter than preve.. at least for my experience, i do drive honda civic, sit as passenger in new vios and city.. compare these quite famous car in malaysia, from standstill and half press the oil pedal for accelerate, i would say all these cars more or less same with preve only.. ya preve is not quiet.. but same as others.. probably soundproof materials.. hmm but probably definition of loudness of each other is different.. cant comment much.. hahaha..

but so far, i think rreally entitled to quiet, new camry, prius C (which i really experienced before).

The main sources of noise in Preve are the engine & the tyres. Bax 2 is rather noisy. I'm currently using Falken 522, and I feel it is quieter than Bax 2. At constant speed of 80 kph on MEX & MRR2, the Preve is as quiet as the Accord. But once you start accelerating the engine noise makes its presense known.

This weekend I've been driving the iVTEC Accord chauffeuring my parents around. I found that I prefer to be driving the Preve, even during jams. I miss the CVT. But of course the Accord is a bit softer in its suspension due to being more comfort oriented and the 60 profile tyres. Preve uses 55 profile tyres.

While doing my study on which car to buy, I thought Premium is more powerful than the manual.

Looked up the brochure I got,

....................... max power ........ max torque

manual .......... 80 ...................... 150
premium ......... 103 .....................205

Minta maaf if I have interpreted the above wrongly. smile.gif

He was referring to the CVT Exec model. Same engine as the manual, just different transmission.
