will be going to Tokyo and Kyoto. Still having problem understanding the rail station in Japan. Landed at Narita Airport. For a week travel in Japan, what your suggestion, take a JR pass or just just use the pasmo card? thank you in advance.

Depends on your itinerary. Are you taking the shinkansen to Kyoto? And how many times will you be using the shinkansen? You can calculate the rough fare for shinkansen on hyperdia. If the cost to take shinkansen is more than 1 week JR pass, then you will be better off getting the JR pass. Otherwise, you don't need the JR pass.

The plus point of JR pass is that you can also use all other JR lines around Tokyo. But Tokyo metro is more convenient to use. If you get the JR pass, plan your journey with using JR lines to make full use of it. There is also a JR line all the way to Narita airport, so you can also use the JR pass to get to the airport. So factor all those trips in and see which method will save you more money.

if you fly in and out via Tokyo and plan to visit Osaka/Kyoto, the JR pass should just about break even (return fare is about 28k yen) and is a good idea.
Pass is useful to get to some of the major areas in Tokyo so try to plan and maximize the use

Just to share experience, i stay in Ueno when i was there and i use the shinkansen to get between Tokyo Station and Ueno a couple of times with the JR pass
