Dear Sifus,

Anyone here have experience using Icoca & Haruka? I plan to purchase the round-trip ticket. Once I activate the card on Day 1. Can I still reuse the return ticket to KIX on Day 10? Need advise.

Thanks.

I was planning to travel alone in October, when I kinda thought it would be less hot. A friend had a trip planned in September though and invited me to tag along. Did Hong Kong alone though.

Actually they will issue 2 pcs- Haruka ticket to you,
one for the outbound KIX( use on day 1) and another ticket for you to take
the Haruka back to KIX (use on last day), please get early to train station to
board the Haruka train which is painted in silver colour and the interval time
for non-peak hour is about 30 min one.

Haruka Express body paint was not sliver colour. It was White + Blue.
You should not recognize train by colour. This was very dangerous.
You should read the electronic info board at platform.

while planning my itinerary for kyoto trip i came across this website: Arukumachi Kyoto Route Planner

similliar function as Hyperdia but focus only on Kyoto area.

so far, i find arukumachi is better than hyperdia as it include bus routes and some train stations that you cant find in hyperdia such as torokko train stations.

Attached Image

another thing i like about it; i can put hotels/attraction spots in arrival and depature.

Hotel got 24 hours kuronekoyamato service but found out there's bus limousine to narita airport, cost 3100yen, compare to train doesn't cost that much different unless I take train/bus.

End up taking the bus limousine to airport then purchase the boxes to pack my things.

I got 2 box for 680yen, cheaper than buying another luggage.

Photo upload from iPhone always terbalik.

1 thing I learn when pack luggage. Do not use box if you don't want kena custom. Pack to bag as much as possible.

Custom normally target box to scan and rip. Because they know good tax thing will spill over into the box. biggrin.gif

The last time i went back from Jakarta, once in LCCT with Batmobile, big box and LCCT tax me, I under valued it though, then I went through KLIA with the same item, the custom officer scan the box and said "kereta" then let me pass.

The chance are kena tax is high with the box. If bag, lower chance. Their eye scan for this item.

Another is cross the custom during many ppl together. Best if those 1 group holiday. The custom is bz with them. And you can cross freely in the middle.

On my itinerary, I mentioned that I have the whole Friday free for loitering around Tokyo. Was suggested by a friend to take the daily JR pass for around 700 yen or so which she says covers the Yamanote line for the whole day and her mentioning it covers Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Asakusa and the likes, fit for a day of loitering. Did a bit of googling and I would assume what she meant was the JR Tokunai Pass for 750 yen. Looks and sounds kinda OK to me. Is there any drawbacks to this that I am not aware of?
