IOS is almost always smoother and more efficient as its customized to a single phone spec. Its much more stable but lack customization features unless you jailbreak. So if you want to change back to IOS, be prepared to pay 3 times the price you pay for MI3 tho. The massive price differences is the one that "encourage" many to just bear with the slight delay vs $$$ lost.

I always wanna try IOS but the price is always killing me...
Dunno when IOS can built a budget hp...

you can always buy old iphone models like the 3gs, 4 or 4s. in mi3 you feel the lag because miui is a heavily skinned ui compared to the stock android. I use mi3 for 2 weeks but decided to sell it off because I dont like getting stucked with miui (even kitkat take so long, google already about to give L). mi3 could have been a beast with custom roms.

Good morning.
Plan to root my phone based on the guide on page 1.
Tutorial Guide #1
How to Root MI3

My question is, am I still able to update to official MIUI firmware when it's available in "System Updates"?
Thanks.

What's the point? AOSP also u guys go install launcher because AOSP sucks.

So in the same as MIUI.

The important thing is MIUI is the best launcher in Android world because its same as iOS.

We all love iOS don't we? brows.gif

Freedom of choice which Android have vs IOS. By controlling it will make it like IOS

just the launcher only meh becoz it's limited option. The best IMO is Apex or Nova

http://www.techradar.com/news/software/ope...r-phone-1231553

Added:
As for Custom Roms, longer unoffical support as not everyone have money to spend on buying gadget as what happen to mi3. People get it due it's price and spec. Other then that imo nope.

I didn't say we can't doh.gif

I said about Custom Romlah not launcher tongue.gif

Launcher is a launcher (main screen interface and etc), ROM is a ROM (AOKP/AOSP/MIUI/TW/etc..)

Both are 2 diff things.

As for IOS interface, most android phone can install IOS launcher or theme and make it like ios brows.gif

How to tell an AOSP ROM from TouchWiz/Sense/MotoBlur ROM?
AOSP ROMs usually ship with its own “vanilla” launcher that looks like Android original launcher.  This may include launchers like Trebuchet (for CyanogenMod) or just Android Jelly Bean launcher.

Of course, some non-AOSP ROMs also ship with Nova launcher, which may fool you into thinking that its an AOSP ROM since Nova launcher mimics the Android “vanilla” launcher.

Another way to tell an AOSP ROM from TouchWiz/Sense/MotoBlur ROM is by the size of the custom ROM zip file.

Most AOSP ROMs such as CM10.1, AOKP, or ParanoidAndroid are less than 200MB on average in size (size of ROM zip file).

TouchWiz, Sense, or MotoBlur ROMs are usually bigger than 500MB on average and most near 1GB.

Why the big difference in size?

Well, that’s how much bloatware Samsung, HTC, and Motorola adds on to the existing AOSP code.  Everything including UI, features, sounds, and carrier-dependent apps add up to more file size.

That doesn’t necessarily mean non-AOSP ROMs run slower but in most cases, AOSP ROMs do run faster than non-AOSP ROMs since they don’t include the extra stuff.

Is AOSP ROMs better than non-AOSP ROMs?
AOSP ROMs may be better than non-AOSP ROMs but that all depends on your preference.

For example, if I installed an AOSP ROM like AOKP on a Galaxy Note 2, my phone would probably run faster.  But the downside is that I would lose all Samsung features like Multi-window, Smart Stay, Smart Rotation, TouchWiz, and anything that was added by Samsung.

If you enjoy some of the Samsung features, AOSP might not be the best for you as it will not let you use some of the features your phone came out of the box with.  On the other hand, you might enjoy AOSP more if you decide that you don’t need any of those Samsung features.

So, it all depends on the user, you.  Whatever feature you want, either AOSP or non-AOSP ROMs will have it,  you just have to decide what you want.

Personally, I enjoy both AOSP and TouchWiz.  There’s always advantages to running AOSP or non-AOSP and it just depends on the situation.

My advice?  Try both AOSP and non-AOSP for a week and decide for yourself.

And if you don’t have time to root and install custom ROMs on your phone but you want AOSP, you can get a Google non-branded phone like the Nexus 4.

If you're looking for flip case, the best quality I've seen is Torras branded. Its compatible with our version. All my MI3 are using these flip casing (colour flip, 2 tone). For my father in law, I've gotten the business looking Torras Cow Leather case, a real high quality hard leather case that should protect against direct impact of crush externally.

I'm using Motomo casing.

Very satisfied with it. Got TPU on the inside and side for protection against scratching the phone smile.gif
