guys should i go for the ess or nod32 3.0 antivirus...
my biggest concern if it will slow down my internet speed and increase memory usage...that is the main reason i am with nod32 at the moment. using 2.7.

the only diff i see is the antispam, anti spyware and firewall. i dont need the antispam...the anti spyware..i already have spyware doctor which i am really happy with...and if i have an antivirus and antispyware running in the background, wont it slow down my computer? also, do i really need the firewall..i mean...yes, i do download a lot from ares and surf a lot, but i do surf safe sites mostly...is windows defender and windows firewall sufficient enough? i am just scared that it will slow down my internet speed like kaspersky did.

thanks a bunch

I dunno about the memory usage. However, I dun face any lagging or slow for my internet connection using the Smart Security of Nod32. I changed to the Antivirus edition because Filezilla just doesnt work with Smart Security.

thanks onimusha, to be on the safer site, i might go for the antivirus first....anyway waiting for more feedback before i take the plunge...just installed the antivirus - trial version...so far OK....initially, i could not access anything on the net after installing, when i restarted, then its fine...need to give it sometime and see if my computer is overall faster or not...anyway, its nod32 - fantastic stuff....

i just finished the updates...i find the interface much nicer and its generally easier to use....in terms of general speed and internet connection speed, i find it little snappier, although still early to say at this point....and internet connection speed - well it always varies....so perhaps i would give my point of view in december or so...after my exams are done, right now...feeling good tht i updated my NOD32 smile.gif

It will depend on your Updates Setting. Did you enable Update System/Core Files? if you didn't, it will not update it for you. You would need to do it manually.

Cheers!

Hi,
At this moment, upgrade from previous build is not available. you can manually reinstall the new build over the old one though.

Unfortunately yes..... blush.gif

BTW, the new version is suppose to work with Filezilla now. Do keep us posted.....
Also if anyone encounters problem such as no internet after installing the new v3 on both AV and ESS, please uninstall it and remove your previous firewall programs first. it seems that some firewall programs are very hostile to the new drivers NOD32 tries to install for real time monitoring for browsing and mails.
Mine ESSv3 installation over Outpost caused this. uninstall Ouptost and clean all file reboot, resolved...

If NOD32 3.0 not that i know of. If ESS, there are reports from other forums that it can conflict with other firewall causing no internet because of the firewall driver clash. or something like that.... Use the trial version to test first..
