yup,
Spyware Doctor is good but really memory hogging...
it slow my notebook 1.4Ghz a lot compare to Spyware Sweeper

Which is why i install NOD3 trial version as my antivirus compared to Kaspersky v6.0
NOD32 is using less memory compared to Kaspersky which in my case slow my notebook lo.

Spyware Doctor is the best against Xwares. But it uses alot of system resources.

Have switched from NAV2006 to NOD32 recently. I found out there's this "updfiles" folder with some files downloaded during manual updating. Is it safe to delete those files?

Also, there are about 6 files located in the NOD32 installed folder - nod32.000, nod32.002, nod32.003, nod32.004, nod32.005 and nod32.006. What are those files for and is it OK to delete them?
*
The contents of this folder is used during incremental engine update. It's safe to delete contents of the folder, but it will increase update download time.

nod32.00x are all the database (signature files, advanced heuristics etc). Just leave it be.

more info from NOD32 forum:
NOD32.000 - virus signature database
NOD32.002 - support for archives
NOD32.003 - advanced heuristic module
NOD32.004 - packet worm scanner module
NOD32.005 - list of dangerous websites??
NOD32.006 - sample collector module

It is possible to manually update NOD32 on a computer which does not have Internet access by having it retrieve updates from another computer which does have access to the Internet. On a network, the computer with Internet access would periodically download updates from Eset and then be accessed as an update server by the other computers on the network.

Hi,
Do not delete those files as it is used by NOD32.
NOD32.000 is the signature file which is used by the program. For those of you who has a tricky virus situation, you can make use of the NOD32 DOS version and copy the NOD32.000( this is the signature file) and you'll have a DOS scanner with the latest signature file.

Unfortunately the faq will tell you to install the NOD32 administrator version which contatins a mirror function and you'll be able to replicate it to the target PC for an update on NOD32.
This is a much debated weakness in NOD32 which we hope will be corrected in the next version.

I have a problem. The NOD32 splash screen takes some time to load when I start my laptop. I guess it is trying to update its virus definition thru wifi. Anyway I could bypass this function?

if you happen to be a student, you are eligible for student rates. its only RM 74 for students. annual renewal would be RM 45 per year. these were the rates that was quoted to me earlier this year

To disable splash screen, just goto NOD32 system setup and click do not display splash screen. Saves you some time as you won't see the splash screen at all. While loading the splash screen, def are not being updated (at least not that i know of). It reads the database version number though.
