Have switched from NAV2006 to NOD32 recently. I found out there's this "updfiles" folder with some files downloaded during manual updating. Is it safe to delete those files?

Also, there are about 6 files located in the NOD32 installed folder - nod32.000, nod32.002, nod32.003, nod32.004, nod32.005 and nod32.006. What are those files for and is it OK to delete them?
*
Hi,
Do not delete those files as it is used by NOD32.
NOD32.000 is the signature file which is used by the program. For those of you who has a tricky virus situation, you can make use of the NOD32 DOS version and copy the NOD32.000( this is the signature file) and you'll have a DOS scanner with the latest signature file.

Any one know How to update NOD32 virus defination offline?
*
Unfortunately the faq will tell you to install the NOD32 administrator version which contatins a mirror function and you'll be able to replicate it to the target PC for an update on NOD32.
This is a much debated weakness in NOD32 which we hope will be corrected in the next version.

Check with the local partners list. I beleive the price is cheaper than the USD conversion for the 1 year retail pack

I have a problem. The NOD32 splash screen takes some time to load when I start my laptop. I guess it is trying to update its virus definition thru wifi. Anyway I could bypass this function?
Yeap. Worth paying..
*
To disable splash screen, just goto NOD32 system setup and click do not display splash screen. Saves you some time as you won't see the splash screen at all. While loading the splash screen, def are not being updated (at least not that i know of). It reads the database version number though.

trendmicro also not bad....
i think the subcription is more cheaper...

anyone know per license, per user annual subcription rate?

if it is cheaper, you might consider to go for that...
this is reasonable.... thumbup.gif

the website only stated in USD...

what about the rate for normal user?
*
NOD32 normal user aka "adult" pack is retailing at RM128.

got 1 problem after installed NOD32...

System process(user name:system memory usage:420k)  eat up 90%+ of cpu usage by view task manager...

i try terminate it, and turn to msnmsgr.exe eat up 90%+ cpu usage...

if i terminate it also, AMON scan will be very very slow...

else i disable AMON n din terminate any process, CPU usage will b free...

may i knw anyone meet this before and hv solution for it?

My NOD32 ver : 2.70.39

If i installed NOD32 3.0 beta version, no this problem occur...but i scare i good enough...seem got many function was locked...
*
Nod32 3.0 RC1 should be pretty much finalized. it has been in beta for quite a while. Some of the weaknesses in 2.7 is rectified in 3.0 and this includes background scan and idiot proof interface. For those who want a security suite, the ESS RC1 is available as well.
BTW i notice you can use the beta credentials or if you own NOD32, you can use your current one as well.

Inside sources tells me that official v3 will be available next month. whistling.gif

Anyway i can Exit from NOD32? I can't find the Exit!!! So I need to go Task Manager and end the process manually...
*
Err..exit? You mean you want to terminate realtime resident protection? goto control centre, click AMON, click setup, under security tab, check the box on allow manual stopping. Once ok, just go back to AMON, and click stop. This will unload the resident protection. Quit your control centre by clicking on the quit button.
This will fully disengage NOD32.

*
what Version are you on right now? if v2.70 and below, you just need to bring up the Control Centre and expand the threat protection modules (click on the NOD32 icon at the right side of tray bar.
IF RC1, then have to wait...i also got to find it..... blush.gif

lol...it's easy...just bring up the NOD32 control center, then click the Quit button to end the protection ._.

/not sure about RC 1 tho ._.
*
That doesn't' unload AMON from the memory. quitting the Control Centre disables your normal AV function but not stop/unload the real time monitor.

man, looks like this has to be downloaded manually too sad.gif
*
Unfortunately yes..... blush.gif

BTW, the new version is suppose to work with Filezilla now. Do keep us posted.....
Also if anyone encounters problem such as no internet after installing the new v3 on both AV and ESS, please uninstall it and remove your previous firewall programs first. it seems that some firewall programs are very hostile to the new drivers NOD32 tries to install for real time monitoring for browsing and mails.
Mine ESSv3 installation over Outpost caused this. uninstall Ouptost and clean all file reboot, resolved...

you mean after install nod32 3.0 ,when we access the internet will getting problem?
*
If NOD32 3.0 not that i know of. If ESS, there are reports from other forums that it can conflict with other firewall causing no internet because of the firewall driver clash. or something like that.... Use the trial version to test first..

how this nod32 perform? i've used the old version b4 but uninstall it after AVG can detect sum worm and nod32 can't .. might to consider using it back if got good recomendations from members here ...  sweat.gif

Hi,
i am curious, did you verify with online scanners such as Jotti's(multi scanner engine) to confirm that it is a virus infected file or it could be an FP or a zipped file or maybe a damaged file with virus leftover hanging out that NOD32 ignored but AVG picked up?

the new nod32 process called ekrn.exe is killing my CPU with almost 99% CPU load at random times.

Google it and you can find many complain about it. that is the only drawback that i feel uneasy at the moment
*
Which version are you on? In the earlier version 3.0.551 there was such as issue. In version 3.0556 it was supposedly fixed.

Look at the comparison given by NOD32 with other products which shows NOD32 is the best among others in various tests and comparisons..

Wonder how accurate it is:

Added on December 19, 2007, 9:39 pmI heard NOD32 has mobile version which can be installed in pendrive?

NOD32 is weak in certain things. My friend's PC kena MSN virus whereby always sent out photo album to her friends in her lists.

She scanned with NOD32 but nothing found.

Then I told her to scan with avira and found infection and cleaned.
*
That may be true.... Unfortunately nothing beats education. Do not click receive even from friends without actually confirming your friend has send you something. Many people are too trusting...i have seen this in many companies.
Time to actually recommend boxes that monitors MSN & yahoo chats and banned sending/receiving files via these chat program. Second method is to use a local firewall and set policy to disallow it. If anyone knows how this can be done via windows please do post about it. Home users.... time to be smart thumbup.gif
