Problem ->
1) Screeching sound during breaking.

*
Glad to hear the Lion giving you all the joy.

This problem needs immediate attention. The screeching sound is due to worn brake pads, and your brake disc are getting scotched! If the damage is not bad, you can skim the disc, but the if the damage is too deep, then need to change brake discs.

On the other hand, I was thinking to wait for the new 408 model which is due this July/August this year. I heard that the price will be slightly lower than existing, because it is MADE IN CHINA..  biggrin.gif
*
The present 408 is China manufactured and assembled in Malaysia. This model will be discontinued when the face lift model comes on sale in Malaysia. As we speak, I'm sure the Gurun plant is gearing up for assembly of the facelift model.

As for the price, this is going to be very interesting to watch. I have my doubts it will be cheaper than the present model. The 308 is priced at $135K. My predictions facelift 408 may be $140K+

Hi SKYjack and all,

FYI.
Finally I able to claim my noisy gearbox and make replacement last week, after replace next day cannot start due to starter wiring did not tighten, call SC to send techs to fix . This gearbox issue been dragging 1 year and 3 months ago. I had been harsh all the way towards the SC and CLIC staff. 45 email conversations with Clic, and reported at KPDNKK at January 2015. Prepare to go for Tribunal court for claim if they did not approve the replacement. Now well known at Penang Georgetown SC.

Here is my bad experience towards my lion:( My 1st email to Clic)
I had reported my gearbox noise issue when I make 2500km service on March 2014. I am been told that my case will be follow up, unfortunately the 1st report only sent to technical platform at May 2014 after I make numerous of call to service center manager. July 2014 I been told to leave my car  a week for troubleshooting and collecting data that needed from HQ. They said will call me when HQ replied to them , after month and month waiting, I make numerous call to Careline. Finally on September 2014  I get a called from service center said that my car gearbox noise is normal and stated that they cannot do anything about it. The technical person who troubleshoot my car and bring me along for test drive stated clearly that my car gearbox noise are abnormal compare to other car. How come HQ said is NORMAL ? REFUSED TO FIXED? After that I make numerous call again to care-line, till I sent out my 1st email to CLIC on November 2014.

Since I get my car I had claim :
1) Front both disc brake. ( Vibrate and have sound when brake at high speed)
2) Both Side triangle rubber cover
3) Battery ( died after 6 months) tow back to SC
4) Gearbox

Note: Late 3 months for 10K service on September ( should be done on June 2014). Which I told the SC manager they need to take the responsibility for the delay cause I will not waste money to maintain defect car.(The manager advise me to do 10K cause she scare will void my warranty). After replacement straight do 20K service, 6 months since September 2014 with 14k mileage only.

Tks for the feed back bro.

Calling bro lowpro
As you have inside knowledge, can you confirm the engine on the new 308.

I feel the press has got it wrong. The recent Straits Times article quotes the engine to be 150THP. I have done a fair bit of research and understand the 150THP is discontinued.

Peugeot has a new line of Euro 6 engines. The new petrol 1.6 THP engines are 165/205/208/270hp depending on the chassis. There is a whole range of diesels.

Confirm on the Malaysian 308 it will be 165THP!

163hp or 165hp?
Btw, bro lowpro left Peugeot quite some times already if not mistaken.

Too bad lowpro left Peugeot. We have lost a good source of reliable info.

Oh Naza pamphlet also claims new 308 with 150THP ka! No wonder so much confusion. Paul Tan confirms it's 165THP. The new line of engines are built to Euro 6 emission standards. So now the 163THP Prince is adjusted to 165THP.

Bro I notice coolant is not replaced. I advice you change coolant. It is not expensive but plays a crucial role in keeping the engine cool.

Hi Guys
Do most of you drive on sports mode since the car is sports tuned?
And if so, does it increase fuel consumption? Reason I ask is that it somehow does not seem to increase consumption in my case. It maybe that mine is still high - 12.1l/100KM - since I only got my car late December and have clocked <4000KM. I remember reading that in this thread that it will be more fuel efficient after 10000KM.
Hope to hear your views and own experience.
Thanks Guys.
*
Atm, your fc is normal. It will improve after 10K. As to how much depends on your driving style. While I do glance at the fc occasionally,I don't really bother about it cos the turbo is additive.

Assuming yours is also THP,my fc now is 9.2L/100km. But the figure is the same whether I do 120kmh or 150kmh. I think the fc indications are not very reliable, on my car! These days I just enjoy the turbo!

In sports mode fc will be higher cos the gears are held longer for the sporty drive.

Enjoy your Lion tongue.gif !

i wonder when the all new 408 will be launched here?
*
Good to see more 408s and other Lions on the road. I guess face lift 408 is about to be launched anytime now! Nasa has to careful on the price! Popular C segment Jap brands have dipped below 130K. I'm not sure, but I doubt the new 308 at $135K is selling at all!

308 is car of the Year in Europe & supply can"t keepup with demand. But ppl here don"t appreciate technology!

Hi All,
Does anybody here replace the HPFP? Warranty cover up to what mileage?
*
Quite a few have replaced the HPFP. The pump has been found faulty at high altitudes, like Genting or Camerons, wasn't based on mileage! But I think it's really a QC issue. Not everyone has had this problem and many have had no problems at high altitudes. Besides this is a redesigned pump as the old one is known to fail frequently.

Hi everyone,
I m RedEarth, just wanna ask all sifu here about 408 2.0... I m planning to get a 408 & two days ago I saw a second hand 408 2.0 year registered 2013....when I sit in the car after started the engine I noticed the Engine light is on, ask the salesman but I doubt he knows about it....anyone know who is the owner of this beast WXW 1207 Dark Grey....smile.gif
Any problem with this car?
*
Did you take the car for a drive. Since you are able to start the engine & if the drive was smooth, then it's probably nothing serious. Could be a minor sensor. Do a diagnostic test & that will pin point the problem most of the time.

What price?

I haven test drive cos that way rushing back...supposed to go today but was tide up with work....selling for RM74k OTR...2013 car
*
If u like the car, try for $70K. Have the diagnostic test done before closing the deal.

Check on warranty. The dealer will swear still got warranty! Very easy to check on warranty. Look at the service booklet. If no booklet, you can assume warranty is void. If he has the booklet, next service KM & date will be written. Warranty becomes void at next service KM+ 500KM OR 2 weeks from service date is exceeded. Important to remember both these conditions must be satisfied. Don't believe any cock & bull story the dealer will pull!

I don't suspect anything serious with the car. 408 NA is a well proven engine with a new gb. Good luck bro!

QUOTE(djboycalvin @ Apr 20 2015, 06:38 PM)
normally what is the symptom ?  when HPFP faulty ..  rclxub.gif
*
Common symptom is engine jerking or engine dead after jerking. With this pump, the problem seems to surface at high altitudes. At altitudes the ECU makes fuel adjustments to prevent too rich a mixture, which will cause erratic combustion and eventual flame out. But as i said this is a new designed HPFP & I suspect the few who had this failure was due to production line qc! No problems after warranty claim on the HPFP.
